I was robbed by these people. I supplied all the material, had the wires pulled already, beside one smoke run which went 8 feet from and existing pull. They setup two light switches and moved one receptacle 2 feet. It cost me $1,140 for three hours of work. Technicians were nice and I’m sure they were doing as instructed but never use these people. Criminals.
Classic terrible company. Only reply to the happy customers but no replies or follow ups with the unhappy customers after they take your money.
Do not use these people -

We had an emergency when a car took out a pole and pulled out the electrical service to our two-story house. Dan arrived in about an hour and assessed the situation. He had most of the parts he needed and was able to get the repair done in a few hours. He coordinated with Consumers Energy to get our electricity (and heat) back for us! Thank you!

I had Kolton from Vander Hyde out for a simple dryer gas line update, and during the inspection he uncovered a very serious and potentially life-threatening issue with my water heater, including a carbon monoxide leak. His professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail were exceptional. I’m genuinely grateful, he may have saved my life. I highly recommend him and Vander Hyde.

Dan & Andre did an awesome job! I just moved here from Rockford and needed an electrician and looked on line. I sure chose a good one! Your employees were courteous, explained and showed me what they were doing and were diligent in getting the work done. I will have some more electrical work in the future and you now have a new customer! Thanks for a job well done!

I installed a moen sprayer, but the connection to the fastener didn't fit. Sprayed with wd40 then called Vander Hyde. I was informed there would be a $99 service call. Gary and his helper arrived, I explained my problem. Gary attempted to connect several times to fastener. Finally a piece of plastic came out of the fastener and it connected. No tools were needed and I cleaned up afterwards . Then I was informed that the bill was $380. All that took 10 minutes . I tried to talk with management but no luck. Where is the common sense?

This company is extremely poorly managed and steal from their customers. I was sold some sort of fire system package for $1,140. In total the work was 3 hours, for four smoke alarms to be connected (three of the four already had pulls, the fourth was pulled 8 feet from one of the existing pulls - suggested by them as code - which it is not), connected three light switches and to move one outlet into the wall (about a foot away for an unfinished wall). They used all my material outside of one 8 foot wire and a few face covers for the switches. After the invoice arrived I was appalled that I was sold some sort of "silver EB2C Main Safety First fire detection system renovation" which includes: Hazardous vapor detection system, advance fire/ smoke detection system, install fast action extinguisher, performance and safety testing, and 1 year limited warranty. When I called to discuss with a decision maker (owner or manager at least) they directed me to the tech that installed it (not his fault its the companies process to upcharge people). When I called back they refused to let me speak to anyone who could actually explain to me why I was upsold on some silver package vs an itemized service. This at most should have been $500 and shame on me for agreeing to the pressure when contractor was onsite. However to not discuss this type of behavior with the customer after the fact because they already have my money is a terrible way to do business. Absolute criminals, do not allow these people into your homes. With that said, Dan and Andrea were great. They should start their own company and charge people the honest rate vs some fire protection service package.

We had a great experience with VanderHyde. We called late Friday afternoon and were scheduled right away for Monday morning, which we really appreciated. Bryson was our technician and he was punctual, professional, and very kind. He took the time to explain everything clearly and completed the service efficiently. We would gladly recommend VanderHyde and Bryson to others.

Gavin was bery patient and respectful. Good guy, explained the costs, options, and even got us installed same day. Dan and Evan came out, did a great job installing the new furnace, explained the new thermostat and made sure to tidy up their work space when done. Absolutely recommend these guys.

Gary was very thorough investigating our water heater issue of not staying on. He explained all options and prices along with pros and cons without trying to upsell. Bryan and Kyle returned two weeks later (worked for our schedule) and completed our installation of the water heater. They were very efficient and professional. I was pleased with their communication.

I don't really like to think about my furnace or AC breaking, and then something goes wrong like last night when I went to turn on my air on for first time this year... I’m glad I called these guys. No runaround with my appointment time, no pressure, just honest advice and solid work. Andrew took the time to walk me through what was going on and what to watch for in the future. Felt like he actually cared, not just trying to sell me a new system.

Great people to work with! I would recommend anytime.

Great people to work with, small business that deserve the support in grand rapids.

Had Andrew with Gold Star Mechanical out for a furnace repair and couldn’t be happier. He communicated the timeline clearly, was on time, and the price felt fair. Beyond the repair, he put my wife's mind at ease by walking her through the rest of the system and confirming everything else looked solid. It’s refreshing to work with a company that’s honest and not trying to upsell you. Highly recommend.
