Last Summer we contracted Metro Lawn to lay sod at a rental property in St. Louis Park (yes I know, new sod at a rental not a great idea.) . Communication from this team was more and better than I expected for a project like this so it was greatly appreciated and the final result was even better. I could tell my property wasn't just another project for them, they took care as if it were their own.
I have a large landscaping project for this Summer at the property I live in, and this team (Jeff & Garrett) will absolutely be the team to complete it for me. -
This group did a great job with my driveway and it was a very challenging project. Very satisfied with my concrete driveway, large rock retaining wall and garden work. Would highly recommend

I hired Metro Lawn Rehab in June to treat my lawn for weeds/grubs in June, and then aerate and over seed this coming fall.
They came to my home on July 3. To this day I have no idea what they did, other than aerate my lawn and damage my sprinkler system. They weren't supposed to aerate until this fall, and they asked that I mark all my sprinkler heads before hand to prevent damage. They shared that they would contact me before hand so I could do so.
In July I reached out them six times via email, phone, and their Facebook page. No response. I finally disputed the $500 charge with my credit card company the end of July, which prompted to them to finally reach out via phone. I returned their calls numerous times this month without success.
Today my lawn is full of weeds and one of the zones of my sprinkler system doesn't work.
After emailing them many times I finally received a response from Garrett today saying, 'Thanks for touching base. At this point we are going to let the dispute run its course and will contact you after resolution."
No apology, no explanation. Nothing.
Please find another service provider if you are considering Metro Lawn Rehab.
This has been an unbelievably frustrating experience. -
The team that actually installed the sod was great, worked quickly and did a nice job.
The scheduling and invoicing team was frankly a nightmare to work with. They would say they would do something (like send me an estimate) and then I would never hear back. They would tell me what day they planned to work on the yard and never show up (this happened 3 times). Finally I said I was canceling the charge and lo and behold they showed up the next day. They failed to send me care instructions until the day after the sod was installed (the first instruction was highlighting how important it was to overwater on the day it was installed, so you can see how this is a problem).
Of course, when it came time to collecting payment, suddenly they were on top of things and found time to call and email me.

Had an initial call mid-Oct about sod install for next spring. Pricing and services seemed good. Had some additional questions about what was included. Each response was delayed about a week. I had one additional question and requested a quote in writing so I could get on the schedule for the following spring because I was told they get "super busy", and they recommended getting scheduled soon. I also needed to make a deposit. Another week went by, got no response/quote.

The team at Metro Lawn Rehab came through for us in a pinch. We needed some major cleanup within a couple weeks for an outdoor party and they said no problem! They were professional and did great work. Thanks!

Thanks to Garrett and his team for their quick customer service to get us a quote just the next day after calling. We would highly recommend them! Very professional and offered great advice!

Metro Lawn Rehab (MLR) has transformed our small suburban corner lot from an overgrown weed patch to a beautiful yard. We requested bids from several vendors, but Garrett of MLR was the only vendor who contacted us by phone (not just a brief text) and showed interest in our project.
Jeff came to our home and helped us articulate what we wanted our yard to be like. We installed sod on only two sides of the yard (facing the streets) along with an in-ground irrigation system. The rest of the yard is less visible from the street, so we chose mulch, ground cover and perennial plantings. Luis and his hard-working crew re-graded the entire lot to direct rainwater away from the house foundation. They improved the soil, installed irrigation, laid sod, and planted perennials and one new tree. MLR got the project done in about one week. We are delighted with our new yard, and so are our neighbors. -
It was great working with Jeff and the team. We had our front yard stripped, leveled so they could lay new sod. We also had pavers put down, and landscaping rock refreshed.
One of my favorite things they did was provide care instructions for the sod (how much to water, when to water, weather related FAQ's, etc). They also provided Amazon links to purchase recommended sprinklers and timers for watering the sod. We followed the links, purchased the items, and they are absolutely what we needed to properly care for it. The others we went with didn't provide that.
Overall, they did a great job. There were a couple of pieces where clarification was needed but I had no problem getting a hold of them to work through it. Good communication. Good work overall. Competitive quote with a couple others that we checked in with. If we have some more landscaping projects, we'd absolutely go through them again. -
Had MLR do a full front yard renovation and I could not regret the decision more. Bottom line, I'm actively looking at other landscapers to fix and re-do some of the work I had done, truly horrid experience and output - I'd love to say it was worth it in the end, but it wasn't even decent work it's fully below average. I've had now three landscaping projects at this house, this has by far been the poorest work. For context, it's $17-$18k of work - so by no means the largest project but a significant investment in curb appeal for the house. Also for context, after the job was done I had to file a police report as one of the workers came by my house unannounced demanding money for the work he did. Finally, I have three holes in my basement wall, from front yard landscaping...
Pretty standard in the consult and quote, it all went downhill after the deposit was made and it seems like they put speed/money/turnover above the customer experience and depth of work. At consult was told there would be a walkthrough the morning of the start with the foreman, didn't happen. There was an add-on after work had already started that should have been brought up in the quote (drainage from the downspouts, the downspouts didn't change between quote and work), which I was told via text would be another $900, and they ended up invoicing me $950. It's not the matter if $50, it's the matter of it not being seen first and accurately quoted.
Part of the revamp was clearing and re-leveling the yard to seed - they leveled on the third day of a two week project, so now the lawn that's been seeded is just as bumpy as it was before the work, due to digging irrigation and placing rock/mulch. Additionally, either the level of clearing or the topsoil used was subpar, as there are so many rocks in the lawn large swaths will have to be redone in fall.
Despite the consult and a text saying black mulch, they installed brown mulch and didn't bother changing it out. Whatever is fastest and easiest for them I suppose. They also planted the incorrect perennials, despite a text saying "let's wait and not substitute" because again, easiest and fastest for them is the main point. This would have required them to wait and immediately use the substitutes that Gertens provided - again explicitly against my initial request and text confirmation of wanting to wait for the right plants. That's now one more thing I'll have to dig up and replace. The steppers they installed are laughable, look like they are from the clearance aisle at Home Depot - didn't need anything fancy but was hoping for not splotched and stained concrete that I have to replace with some actual decent looking steppers.
The irrigation works, so that's good. After two weather delays (can't do anything about those), the irrigation guy no showed two consecutive days and then showed up unannounced one afternoon to see if he could install then. Finally, he showed up unannounced at 8am on a Sunday to install the unit in the basement - where he managed to use screws without anchors in the drywall snugly between two studs. Couldn't fully open the door to the watering unit, and now the basement wall has three holes in it from faulty install.
Through it all was communicating with Jeff as the project lead - didn't hear from Garrett until there was an issue with payment as I'm holding back some payment in order to get the wall fixed. Overall, they did below average work, made it easiest on themselves, and didn't give any indication of caring for customers. -
Our retaining wall is beautiful! The work was done well, with care for the details. Good quality work at a reasonable price compared to other companies. The reason for the 3-star review is because of some slow/lack of communication between myself and the project manager and the project manager and the workers. The initial estimates were very off (though the owner called to apologize) and later we were told they had underestimated the amount of sod needed (but the owner worked to give us a discount so we weren't paying too much over what we were quoted, but we did have to pay a bit more than expected). Sometimes the workers didn't seem to know the plan that I had talked about with the manager. Many times, I didn't know who I was communicating with via email. Everyone I worked with was friendly. Overall, I am pleased with the outcome and think everything looks great, but I think the company could improve their communication systems.

Very responsive. My 1st time using a snow removal service and I am very pleased. They clear within hours after snow stops. Quality work on sidewalks and driveway of my Minneapolis home corner lot. Workers are quiet. I have never heard them at work.

Metro landscape has recently completed our beautiful new retaining wall project! They have been amazing to work with and customer service has been top notch. We did choose them because they are pretty much a one stop shop. They were able to install all new irrigation, sod, and plantings. Luis and the crew do absolutely amazing work and are super tidy. Would highly recommend!

This company charged me for services without ever providing a contract, despite my explicit request for one. Because no contract was sent, I hired a different company that did provide a written agreement and completed the work.
This company later claimed they had performed services at one of the properties we manage; however, the work was completed by the company I formally hired. When I requested a refund for the $630 monthly charge—which is excessive in itself—they refused.
Due to an internal bookkeeping error, the invoice was accidentally paid. Rather than acting professionally and meeting me halfway by refunding at least a portion of the charge, Jeff refused outright and placed full blame on me.
To be clear:
No contract was provided
No consent was given to perform work
The work was performed by another vendor
A refund was refused despite these facts
I will be pursuing this matter through the appropriate legal channels. I do not recommend this company due to its lack of integrity, cooperation, and accountability. Based on my experience, I would caution others to proceed carefully.
TO YOUR REPLY: We will see how a judge feels about this whole thing. You claim to have provided service without authorization and a lack of consent to do so. Not to mention, I have evidence that the other company was there before you were.
Not to mention, we never met on-site per my email request, nor did anyone respond with a date and time to do so. Your failures to complete the contract and the on-site meeting imply that there is no consent to perform services in place.
Instead of meeting me halfway and refunding at least half the money, you completely rejected the entire idea and placed all the blame on me. Your company failed to provide a contract, so I went with somebody else who did. I will see you in court!
As a business owner, this is not the way to handle a situation like this. If it were me, I would refund at least half the money and shake hands. The thing is, I manage a lot of properties around the metro and you will no longer be on my list of vendors to consider because of it. Had you met me halfway, I would still consider using your company. You're giving up and risking a lot over $330....
Not to mention, you came over on my review and wrote a review without any merit. You'd rather have vengeance than peace? I will remove this review when I have $330 in my hand. If I have to go to court, this will stay. All of this is worth $330, huh?
It definitely speaks to your lack of integrity, cooperation, and who you are as people. -
If you are looking for a very well run company with excellent workmanship, look no further! I was extremely pleased on how detailed and knowledgeable the entire staff was. Jeff worked me through the quoting and design process with much professionalism and Luis and crew were one of the most hard working crews I've seen to date. As you can see I had a rather large project that they seemed to handle with ease. Highly recommend and we will be doing more work in the future!

Jeff and the entire crew did an amazing job on our backyard. We are thrilled with the work provided. They communicated effectively, and truly cared about our vision and it coming to life. We couldn’t be more happy and would recommend them over and over again.

KG just completed a front yard landscaping project for us that included a gravel patio and large planting area with boulders. The end product somehow exceeded our expectations and just looks great. Kent was great about coming out right away for a consultation, giving us ideas on what we could do and rough estimates on how the costs could range -- super helpful because we really had no idea. It was obvious from the consultation that KG were professionals and we were comfortable paying a design fee that would eventually go toward the project. My husband was a little skeptical about that part, but I wouldn't want anyone to start tearing up my yard without a good design on paper first. There was a bit of a wait between when we committed to using KG and when the crew could start the project, but most of that was our eagerness to complete the project with time to enjoy it before the cold weather and I know it was just a busy time of year for any contractor. The crew worked their tails off (and somehow appeared to have fun at the same time) and finished the project in two days. They were true professionals. We wanted a simple patio to throw our Solo stove on and a planting area that would look nicer than the dead grass that the sun just scorches during the summer, but the end result exceeded our expectations. The landscaping was expertly designed and efficiently built with no ridiculous surprises or additional work that cost us more money. As far as pricing, KG was about middle of the road, but I'm confident no other contractor could have delivered that quality of work at the price we paid. Highly recommend KG and will use them again when we're ready for work on our backyard!

I have been in desperate need of regrading the slope in my yard to either a more level surface or something that did not require mowing. It was dangerous to use a mower on the slope area. At the bottom of the slope is a natural wetland area that needed to be protected as well. I had several landscaping companies give me ideas and quotes, but no one came close to what KG Landscaping offered. Kent came out to see what difficulties I was having and designed the project around my safety concerns and my love of pollinator gardens. The crew was wonderful to work with, they were polite, very hard workers, and cleaned up each day.The crew answered all questions and concerns I had all through the project. I had other work to be done at the same time, i.e., roofing and tree removal from a storm. The crew worked well in finding a way for all crews to work together and not hinder the process. With the work complete I know can access all areas that were too dangerous before. Any small areas that made mowing difficult landscaped with rock and plants. I am now waiting for my prairie grass and garden to grow into a beautiful perennial prairie garden. I would not hesitate to use KG Landscaping again and I feel comfortable advising others to use them as well.

I have used KG Landscape primarily for their summer services, such as fertilizing and aeration, for the past three years. For the past two winters, I have also relied on them for snow plowing.
This recent project was the first full-scale landscaping endeavor they have completed for me. Kent was very diligent in ensuring the project was meticulously planned and designed to meet my specific needs. The design turned out beautifully.
Despite encountering multiple rainy days, the team managed to progress in a timely manner and completed the work on schedule. The end result is stunning.
I highly recommend KG Landscape for any landscaping work and will continue to use their services for future projects and ongoing landscape maintenance. -
We had a large front yard project and decided to work with KG after pursing several quotes and designs. What a great decision! Kent was very responsive and provided us with unique and creative design options. His team was very talented and professional, and we appreciated them seeking our input during installation. We also stayed on budget which was much appreciated. Our project extended only about 1 week past the estimate. Highly recommend!

2025: I called Kent this spring when deciding how to handle drainage issues resulting from a neighbors sunken concrete driveway that sloped towards my garage, which had contributed over the years to a crumbling garage foundation due to all the rainwater that flowed off the driveway towards my garage. Kent and his crew designed and installed a french drain and new concrete sidewalks for me in 2024 and did great work so I new he was the person to call for this project. Kent and his concrete crew proposed a solution to move the location of my garage to a better area of my yard less impacted by the neighbor’s sloped driveway, poured a new foundation and new sidewalk, and moved the entire garage to the new foundation. Kent’s landscaping crew then re-graded the yard and installed an additional french drain that connects into the existing drainage features in the yard. Kent communicated throughout the project about the timeline, any modifications (with proposed options), and answered my many questions and worked with my many ideas for how to tackle everything. I really appreciate the amount of time Kent takes to listen to my ideas and then after our discussion uses his expertise to come up with solutions that I love. Everyone listened to what I wanted, from the big picture down to the small details of imprinting some paw prints into the concrete while it was setting. Kent and his crews have truly transformed my yard and eased the drainage problems I have had and I cannot recommend them more highly!
2024: Kent’s crew did an awesome job building a french drain and redoing concrete sidewalks for me. I needed a french drain for water mitigation and the finished product not only works but is also beautiful. The new concrete looks great and whereas my old sidewalk had sunk and sloped towards my home, the new sidewalk slopes away. Everyone involved was very communicative along the way and answered all of my questions. They worked with me to figure out the best solution that works for my yard and my budget. Thank you!
