Plumbing reviews in Omaha, Nebraska

Never again. Ben Franklin came out to unclog our basement drain in January 2025. They said they unclogged the drain, so we paid them with a credit card. My husband called them again because the drain was not unclogged and they came out again. They tried to run a snake out to the driveway but it wasn't long enough, which means another plumbing company would have to look at the drain. The plumbers told us there would be no charge. However, we soon found a total charge for unclogging the drain on our credit card.
1st call-my husband was told the "billing person" was sick, but was working from home and we should hear back in a day or two.
2nd call-No call back so my husband called again. This time he was told that the bill would be corrected. It was corrected, but with the wrong amount.
3rd call-Told the bill would be corrected, but there would be a service charge. The charge for attempting to clear the clog would be credited off.
4th call-the bill was corrected, however, still incorrect as tax and their charge for using a credit card was not correct.
5th call-finally the credit card was charged correctly and we received a corrected billing.
6. We were never told there would be an additional charge for using a credit card. We would have paid by check and saved ourselves some money.
I do not begrudge a service charge. It takes a lot of work to attempt to unclog a drain. However I do question unscrupulous billing practices. We were told by the plumbers there would be no charge, not that a service charge would apply anyway. Yet the billing person apparently has total control, even though it's apparent she doesn't know how to bill and was initially willing to charge everything to our credit card even though she knew the attempt to unclog the drain failed. Even the customer service person said she would "tell the plumbers" that there is a service charge. So the plumbers have no idea what to charge, according to customer service.
We have had good luck with Benjamin Franklin in the past and were going to have them service our water heater, even sign a contract with them for periodic service. That won't happen now. -
Plumbing employees provided routine and preventive maintenance at my address. They did a great job. They were informative, worked in a timely and professional manner.

Avery came out to give us a quote on installing a tankless water heater, and was very kind, knowledgeable. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the future!
-
Avery is knowledgeable and skilled. He went right to work and figured out the problem. It was a little difficult, but he got it done in a timely manner. We are impressed.

Joshua Haston came to my home to check on an issue regarding standing water in my basement laundry room. I was greeted with a beautiful smile. Josh suggested we turn on all the faucets in every room and flush the toilets all at the same time and let it run for a few minutes to see if there was a backup in the lines. Luckily, no issue there! He pulled out a wad of toilet paper and told me and my daughter we were flushing too much toilet paper. He explained the do's and don'ts, including doing courtesy flushes and even showed us how to "flush" the water heater. Josh is very professional, skilled and funny! He is the one you want to open your door to if you have plumbing issues. Thanks again, Josh! You Rock!!

Thorough and professional - Avery explained what he found and what he was going to do to fix my drain. Then he quickly went to work and had everything done within an hour. Great job!

This company is pretty expensive. I think I paid a flat rate of 326 for a drain snake which only took about 45 minutes. That being said, their company that has provided the best customer service I’ve ever received. You receive an email when your appointment is made and a text and even another text when the technician is on their way and a little bit about who they are. I gave them five stars for the customer service, but I would hesitate to pay for a snake service again.

I would recommend to anyone needing plumbing assistance.
Avery was professional as well as patient as I had to take care of an issue before he could let me know about the service call. Bonus; he was able to come earlier than scheduled which worked out great for me. -
Avery was very friendly but very professional when he came into my home. He explained what he was going to do and even how my drain worked. He also double checked everything before he left to make sure all was okay.
I have been doing laundry today and all is working great! -
Mathew Fuller did an excellent job. He was right on time. Very professional and friendly. It was a pleasure working with him. You are very fortunate to have him working for you. It his a great representative for Ben Franklin. Thank you. Mike Covolo.

Avery and his teammate were very nice and honest. They were not able to help me the way we needed but I was thankful that he was honest and not just out to get money.

Avery Heath from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was so personable and an absolute delight to have in my home. He did a great job and had such a spectacular customer service persona. Highly recommend.

Saturday afternoon we had a substantial water leak that required a plumber to fix. Finding a plumber available on the weekend can be challenging and expensive. We called BFP and they had Matthew Fuller out within 40 minutes. They could not have been any nicer. They assessed the problem and we got it fixed.
great customer service, great attitudes, just a great experience. we will use BFP from now on. -
I had a Hot Water Heater replaced by Avery and he did a great job draining and prepping for the removal, made sure to protect the floor for bringing in the new and taking out the old heater. The new install and connections look good. Avery was very friendly, he even remembered my pets name from the last time he visited, and contacted me after he left to make sure the gate that i opened for him, got closed before I let my dog out.

Thanks, Avery. Appreciate how quickly you came out, explained what needed to be done, and being efficient.

I'm posting this as an update to the previous review.
Benjamin Franklin quoted $998 to "bring the washer up to code."
Today, I had another highly rated plumbing company in Omaha come to the home to assess the work done by Benjamin Franklin.
The plumber who came in today took 30 mins to fully explain what I was looking at (the plumber from Benjamin Franklin didn't even take the time to listen to my concerns about the size of my washer and dryer, and went according to what he personally thought was best).
The plumber who came in today told me that Benjamin Franklin plumbing did NOT even bring the washer up to code, even though they charged me a total of $1,600.
I've spoken to the owner and he would say things like,
"Can I ask you a question without you getting mad?"
Or, "I'm taking emotions out of this and looking at this from a purely business perspective," which implies that I'm overly-emotional. While I understand he was trying to mitigate the situation, he doesn't understand that his implications and questions were extremely sexist, as if my emotions aren't warranted.
If you paid $1,600 for someone to rip out your drywall and not do the work they told you they were going to do, would you not react?
Business etiquette means that plumbers should be professional, regardless of "emotions," and not call the home ugly, or talk down to their customers as if we don't know anything about plumbing, just so they can hide the fact that they took an easy way out. They manipulate you into thinking they did what you asked for. I wonder how many people hired this company to bring things up to code and were scammed as well.
My "emotions" don't change the fact that their men did NOT do the work that was quoted. It's that simple.
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is a dishonest company. Do yourself a favor and go with any other company.
The other company I'm speaking to is going to provide a full, in-depth summary of the work that was done, complete with photos, to prove that Benjamin Franklin Plumbing did NOT do what they said they would do.

Update and response to the owner's response below:
This response was not to truly apologize for the incomplete work.
This public response did not address ANY of the issues that were mentioned - the lying about the work that was supposed to be done, calling me overly-emotional, or simply never responding after I sent videos of the butchered job.
If this company was truly sorry, they would have reached out and apologized, but instead, they chose to leave a response to blame US for the fact that they couldn’t resolve anything, which couldn’t be further from the truth.
Again, a sad display of just how terrible their customer service is and reveals their integrity. This is just another example of how misguided their intentions are. So shady. -
Replaced a toilet, water heater and installed a free standing ice machine. They’re prompt, personable and professional.

I am in shock because I paid $82 for the plumber to visit my house and for just trying to use the plunger to try and unclog the drain. Which did nothing because the water did not drain. And after that, he told me the total to use a drain snake was almost $400. WTH? A kid could've done that. Not complaining about the plumber, but it's ridiculous and outrageous how they can charge you that amount to try and do something without success in less than 20 min and then wanting to take advantage. Never using this company again. They are not fair.

Avery came out and replaced two of my bathroom faucets and we was wonderful to work with. He communicated to me about price before he started. He was very friendly with my dog. He left my bathroom very clean. I even requested him on another one of my bathroom faucets.

We had a leak in our basement that Matthew came to assess, we needed a new water heater and water softener. They replaced both in a day! 10/10 recommend! Everyone especially Matthew was so friendly and easy to work with!

He took the time to explain everything clearly before getting started and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the process. The job was completed quickly and efficiently, and my bathroom is now fully functional again. I highly recommend Avery and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Omaha!
