Savage and Son were wonderful to work with. They were very knowledgeable and displayed excellent work ethic. I would recommend them to anyone looking to replace their siding.

Savage and Sons, recently taken over by Dan Layne, did some work on one of our commercial properties. They were very knowledgeable, clean, and efficient. Great Job.

Just got my roof done. I was highly satisfied with the proposal that the salesman gave me and I concluded that this was a no brainer. After talking to my wife about it I called the very next day to tell them that I accept the offer. They started the job...On Time.....the next day and did a wonderful job.I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs these services. The workers were highly skilled and didnt waste any time.

Called twice about having some one come take a look at a home repair. Never heard anything back. Moved on to another roofer and was able to schedule an appointment.
Avoid unless you like never hearing back from thier scheduler.

BEWARE! Started off good with (supposed) company owner arriving in a company truck and giving a professional estimate. But when the work crew arrived, it was two foreign-speaking kids in an unmarked, beat-up van full of junk. When problems with the job became evident in two months, the office kept saying that they would have someone call me to arrange a visit for repairs. This occurred three times, same result—no call back. Complaints to the BBB revealed that the ownership had changed and the company now had a rating of F.

If there was 0 I'd give them that. They came to put a roof on my 90 year old fathers house 2 years ago. Tom Savage was the estimator, but no l9nger owned the business. Gerald Chapman did, maybe still does.
The work was soooo badly done and he refused to even come look at the damage caused by rain and wind. Six months later we had to hire another company to do over $3000.00 in roof repair AND another $1200.00 in ceiling and wall damage. RUN RUN RUN

My husband was shoveling our driveway during this huge snowstorm and Dan showed up and offered to plow our driveway. He did an excellent job and was very thorough. Of this is an indication of how he runs his business, we will definitely be using his service again!

Although they were quick to get the roof completed, the follow through was unsatisfactory. Tom Savage (the son in Savage and Sons) came out to my house in May and went over everything with me regarding putting on the new roof. At the time, he had mentioned that there did not seem to be a bath vent anywhere on my house. I had mentioned to Tom that the previous owner told me he would not properly vent the outside as part of my closing on the house and I told Tom that I would really like that looked into. Tom said he would have the workers double check that when they were here completing the roof. Well, the workers were here in June and completed the work in one day. No complaints there. The real complaints come after the job was complete. The owner, Gerald Chapman and I set up a time to go over the work and at that time I would pay him for the service. I asked my parents to be there for this meeting because my fiancé was out of town. Gerald went over everything with my father and then with me. My first complaint, I am in the insurance industry and asked for a Certificate of Insurance proving that they were a fully insured company. We actually asked for this prior to them starting the job, but never received it. Gerald came out with a copy in hand of what was supposedly mailed to us. I requested to be named as an Additional Insured on the Certificate, because again I am in the insurance industry and wanted to make sure the liability stayed off of me if there were any injuries or problems. I was told it would cost him to add me and frankly it was unnecessary as the job was completed. I let it go even though I shouldn’t have. The next complaint was that I did not see the bath vent anywhere on my house that I specifically was told they would do if it was not there. Gerald said it was not there and I even showed him where my vent was in my main bathroom so that it could be completed. Gerald said he would personally come out by 6/30/16 and complete it himself. He even signed off on my bill that it would be done. I hesitantly gave him the cash payment, as we received a discount like any other company would give if you paid in cash, knowing the job was not complete. Well weeks and now months have gone by and no one has been out to complete the work nor will anyone return our calls. We have made calls into the office, calls directly to Gerald’s cell phone, and nothing. I even told the receptionist on the phone, who was very pleasant, that I felt like I was getting screwed because they already have my cash payment. What type of business does this? Roofs are not cheap. I went with this company because my parents had their roof completed by them years before and they were satisfied and had no issues. Maybe that’s when Mr. Savage himself still owned it. Wonder if he would be satisfied with the way his business ids being run today.

Great communication, arrived on time and got work done in a couple hours. Their skilled tradesman, Josh and his co-worker were professional and respectful. Would highly recommend this company to anyone.

My dad hired Savage & Sons last summer for a new roof. Long story short they did NOT do the job asked and gave him a very hard time about correcting. The staff is great, very polite, neat and hardworking.

We have used Savage and Son for many different projects over the years. By far the quality, workmanship and professionalism was better when Tom Savage owned the business.

We called Savage and Son last Fall (2019)- note under newer ownership now. Jordan Lane came out and we requested an estimate for work (completely tearing of and re-siding the house and garage, adding a small peaked roof over the front porch and installing all weather decking/rails onto front porch.

Overall we were generally satisfied with the house/garage siding project except for a list of details that were overlooked or not done: the exterior furnace vent was installed upside down (noticeable when upward exhaust froze all over the side of the house), one window completely un-caulked, multiple exterior electrical outlets barely secured to the house, several garden bed lights broken during the construction, house and gutter guard not installed at all (were told they'd get to that when they returned in the spring), metal debris left in gutter that blocked drain hole all winter.

The weather then became too cold to begin the front porch project as Dan Lane said the ground was too hard to pour front porch footers. Winter came and went. Covid 19 came and stayed. No contact to us from Dan. We had to call late spring (after the Covid construction company ban had been lifted) and inquire the status of resuming the porch project. We understand that Covid impacted everything and everyone (working, supplies, etc). What we were extremely dissatisfied with was the complete lack of any updates or communication from the company.

Time for the front porch project to finally begin- footers apparently had been done quite well some years ago so Dan Lane said they would not have to be re-done. (That was to have been the delay in starting the project last Fall??) The front porch and roof project were one problem after another. Summary of front porch shoddy workmanship: pieces of gutter guard missing along front of house when it was finally installed, unevenly cut decking along sides, nails poking through floor decking, cap trim pieces piece-mealed together with white caulk everywhere, scratched/scuffed railings, siding section broken, railings with large gaps at attachment points, no deck skirting along the visible portions of the stairs (aka curb appeal), no flashing installed in valley where new roof met existing thus major leaking issues on both sides resulting in wet mail for almost 2 weeks.

Dan Lane did return to address and 'fix' these things but we were not satisfied at all with the front porch quality and workmanship. We will not hire them again and would not readily recommend them.

Savage & Son and crew did an outstanding job installing gutters on our large city house. They work hard and fast and are polite and professional. I thank them for giving our house curb appeal with the beautiful seemless gutters.

Savage and Sons did a great job on my siding project. Dan and his team were easy to work with and they were fast and affordable. The finished product looks great. Thanks Dan Layne and your team.

Do not do business with this company. I have lived in my home 30 yrs. It was time for a new roof. I hired these folks and i have now been dealing with a leak. After coming 3 times and called over a dozen times $300 dollars later im still leaking. My other roof was 25 yrs old and never had a problem. These folks had a 12 yr old no english speking young man working on my roof . I guess its time to take some actions. Im VERY unhappy

DO NOT USE SAVAGE AND SON FOR ROOFING.

    Located at 4359 Lake Avenue
    Rochester, NY 14616.

In 2015 I had a roof full tear off completed by Savage & Son Home Service. Over the following years I have had issues with this roof. When I had the first issue with the roof I Reached out to Savage and Son. I Couldn’t get through to anyone in the office for a very long time. When I managed to reach someone I was told that they no longer honor the full warranty offers and that they are under new ownership as Savage & Son Home Services, LLC. They offered to make repairs for a fee. Of course I declined. Recently, I gave them a bad review on Facebook and Tom Savage immediately responded. According to him, his partner was swindling money and he is trying to make things right by fixing problems. He came to my home, went on the roof and said he’d be back the next day. He NEVER showed. Since then, I have had 4 repairs and had to pay out of pocket. Not only am I still paying in the roof for the previous repair, I just put in over $2000 for my lost recent repair!

They also erased my bad review on the Facebook website. I have a feeling that this is not the first time.

    Do NOT USE THEM!

Called about my roof having multiple leaks. They had installed a complete roof back in 2014 and I thought I had a lifetime warranty. was told that there was ownership change and it wasnt honored so I had to pay a service fee. Jim Savage got on my roof and sealed some spots..he said I should be good but If I still had problems to call him. still had leaks in same spots. after a week of polite excuses and " you're on the schedule today" I called their answering service . told them the situation and asked If they could get someone else over to look at it. never heard from them..the moral of the story is If you hire them to do anything. you better hope they do it right the first time cause once they have your money...;your on your own!!
