We had a leak in the kitchen wall and it was a pretty big mess. It turned into an insurance claim. Rumsey came out and got started right away. Their staff is as professional as I could ask for. Josh and Jacob were great. Jacob helped explain the schedule to us and kept us up to date on where they were in the process. He knows the remodel/reconstruction business up and down. The way they are able to coordinate with insurance company was just as awesome. I would 100% recommend them to friends and family.

We were very pleased with the water mitigation service we received from Rumsey. Trey Allen, our technician, was on point: professional, helpful in answering questions and taking time to explain things we didn't understand, all in a friendly and personable manner. We would do business with Rumsey again, should the need arise.

I had a minor leak in my crawlspace and needed quick repair and cleanup to avoid any water damage. I was referred to Rumsey and Christian G. was incredibly responsive and got the remediation and cleanup done on a Saturday after talking with him that morning. They were the only company that was responsive enough to get someone out same day, especially over a weekend.

Christian was responsive, professional, and kept me informed step by step. He remediated the issue perfectly, very happy with the work and value and would highly recommend Rumsey for any water remediation needs.

Shortly after purchasing my home, I found extensive water damage underneath my floors, cabinets, and in the drywall. Being new to the area, Rumsey was recommended to me by my plumber and I could not be happier with the experience.

Josh lead the mitigation work on my house and was quick to respond and continuously checked in on the progress. He explained upfront what was going to be done and timelines. Mike lead the repair process and made the project as smooth as possible. I am very happy with the level of communication and responsiveness whenever I had a question or concern during repairs. The team was quick to come to a resolution and made sure I was satisfied throughout each step of this process. Overall, I am very happy with the level of professionalism and care Rumsey has shown during this less than ideal circumstance. Could not recommend them enough for any restoration and repair needs.

Sewer backup involving most of my house. Kyle & Trey were responsive to how quickly I needed the “water” removed to start mitigation. They were professional along with being friendly. The management Josh & Zac, helped me negotiate with my insurance company. After I used Rumsey for construction. Blake, & Marco were the best, keeping me informed along with Jacob helping the process along.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Rumsey Construction and Restoration was in response to our water mitigation and cleanup. They were out here the day we called. They clearly explained the whole process. They are pros at dealing with the insurance company and got everything paid. We moved into our brand new house and 3 weeks later had our first floor flooded due to a washing machine issue. This is the first time I have ever had to file a claim with my homeowners insurance. Rumsey was so quick to respond and give me direction on next steps. They were willing to take on the headache of dealing with the insurance company and I am forever grateful for this. Michael handled the reconstruction process and always communicated with me on where they were at with the delivery of materials and when it would take place. Damien handled the water mitigation and was always very responsive. If you have a disaster occur at your house, call these guys. They know what they are doing and they are top notch to work with. Can't say enough good things about them!

Josh has been an absolute pleasure to work with throughout our water mitigation project. Emergency water mitigation projects can be alarming and stressful, to say the least, but the Rumsey team was quick to respond to my initial call. Josh, our project manager, has been consistently professional, knowledgeable, courteous and incredibly empathetic and kind. Not only did Josh successfully dry out the downstairs and crawlspace of our home, but he did it with the highest level of emotional intelligence and sincerity. While our project is still ongoing, we are very thankful for quality of care we and our home have received throughout this process.

We had a terrible experience with water mitigation out of Rumsey’s Columbia, SC office that resulted in a 4+ month delay on repairs and extremely heightened scrutiny from our insurance company (USAA) on Rumsey’s estimates. After conversations with Rumsey’s leadership our project was transferred to Stephen in the Charlotte office and he went above and beyond to get our repairs completed quickly and competently. He, along with Ishmael (crew) and Reeves (materials) was very communicative, clear, and took our concerns and questions seriously. We are very grateful for Stephen’s diligence and kindness during a stressful time, and for getting us back into our living areas after a long 7 months. We recommend him strongly! However, we do caution those with USAA insurance that despite being listed as a “preferred vendor”, in our experience the relationship between them and Rumsey was poor and highly scrutinized, and will result in delays.

We used Rumsey when we experienced damage due to a water leak in our kitchen. We had never needed to use a mitigation and restoration company before and Rumsey was great at explaining the entire process and walking us through each step of the way. Those we interacted with were always professional and responsive and happy to answer all questions we had. Mike and Ishmael were fantastic. We had an excellent experience with their teams. Mike was communicative and attentive, which was really helpful in dealing with our insurance company. The crew was professional. They did an excellent job remediating our water leak in the house. They also restored everything to perfect condition, worked with our insurance, and communicated clearly. They were professional and transparent which made working with them comfortable for me. When they finished, they sent a cleaning crew to clean the house. Christian and his mitigation team and Stephen and his reconstruction team did a fantastic job! Cannot say enough about Ishmael and his crews! The entire team was wonderful to work with, very communicative and thoroughly explained each step of the process. Rumsey completed everything very timely and the work was done exactly as promised. This company did the water mitigation on my kitchen. They were supposed to do the rebuild but I just got a call from Damien the manager and he said the job was not profitable enough for them. He called me at 5 on a friday and the cabinets will be delivered Monday. So they are really leaving me in the lurch. He had months to tell me this would not be a profitable job but waits three days before I get the cabinets! I have been without a kitchen for 7 months now. I have MS and stress is not good for MS patients. What I did to deserve to be treated this way I have no clue. Do not use this company because they may do the same to you!

Unlike other restoration companies I have had to deal with in Charlotte, Rumsey construction was a breath of fresh air.

Josh Byrd (regional manager) was fantastic to work with. He was communicative, transparent, and was willing to work with me on my project as I was paying out of pocket.

We had our kitchen remodel done by Rumsey, they handled the project promptly and were responsive for each step of the process. Stephen Appell was a great project manager and kept us in the loop the entire time.

Rumsey worked with us to remediate after a water leak in the drywall behind our kitchen sink, as well as the reconstruction effort afterwards.

The mitigation/remediation process was a struggle. Some of the issues were due to insurance, but this part of the process was also plagued with communication issues with Rumsey. Oftentimes, our calls/emails to them were never returned, and we had to continue pushing Rumsey for a response or to get them to follow-up with insurance (as they had promised but didn’t always do). We would ask them to keep us in the communication loop with the insurance company, often to no avail. Overall, a pretty frustrating experience.

Thankfully the reconstruction end of things was a breath of fresh air. The all-star of this entire process was Mike Fulbright. Mike entered the picture and got things moving. He is a great (and very prompt) communicator and really listened to our questions and concerns throughout the reconstruction process. Ismael (the lead contractor) was also very responsive to any questions or concerns we had. His cabinet guy, Dionne (pronounced Johnny, I think I’m spelling that right) was also fantastic and very detail-oriented. Overall, we are really pleased with the end result of the kitchen rebuild.

If the mitigation side had been nearly as responsive and communicative as Mike and Ismael, we’d give a higher rating.

Rumsey deserves a 5-star review for the work they did on our home. We had a water leak in the upstairs bathroom that leaked down into our kitchen. It was a big job and Rumsey’s repair and communication throughout the process was top notch (especially Stephen Appell, the project manager). Stephen was quick to respond and address all our concerns asap and the repair work was of high quality. Would (and will) recommend Rumsey to my friends and neighbors anytime.

We discovered that we had a slow leak in our master bath - the toilet line. By the time it was discovered, much damage had been done. Our insurance company recommended Rumsey. From the moment we met Michael Fulbright and Ismael Schinemann, we felt we were in good hands. During the mitigation process it was also discovered that our shower pan had been leaking for quite some time. This affected the subfloor, the adjacent master closet, as well as a part of our bedroom hardwood floor (no wonder I was beginning to smell mildew!). With all this and after several months, we now have a completely new bathroom, a new closet wall, new hardwood floor in the closet, refinished hardwood floor throughout (it is one continuous floor), new duct work. Michael, Ismael and their crews were wonderful - very professional, courteous and considerate. They were easy to get in touch with, too, which is very nice when questions and problems arise. Oh, don't get me wrong, there were some bumps along the way - timing issues, a snafu with the plumbers who were putting in our new tub, some insurance issues, some miscommunication here and there. But all in all, these guys were very good. The final cleaning crew was wonderful, too! (my windows, blinds, and built-ins haven't been this clean in a while!)
It was obvious they all take pride in their work, and they wanted us to be completely satisfied.
