Electrical reviews in Charlotte, North Carolina

A garbage company of liars. Shady sales tactics, poor communication, and customer service that moves on from you as soon as they have your money.
You'll get a $9,000 reimbursement from Duke Energy! Find out that's actually the maximum payout based on the capacity you end up with (we got about 75% that).
You can apply the reimbursement to cover your monthly payments so that you have 0 monthly to worry about for a couple years! No you can't, their loan company does not do this.
We'll have you up and running in April! System was broken from install in April until they finally got it fixed in October. You can't get the reimbursement from Duke until the system is functional so this also delayed my (less than promised) reimbursement.
These should cover 100% of your electric bill! Not even close. -
I’ve had a great experience with Top Tier Solar. The team is always friendly, caring, and genuinely willing to help with any questions or concerns I’ve had. It’s rare to find a company where the employees go out of their way to make sure you feel supported and informed every step of the way.
Whether it's a quick question or something more complex, they’ve always responded with patience and professionalism. It’s clear that customer service is a top priority here, and that really sets them apart.
Highly recommend working with Too Tier Solar, if you value great service and a team that truly cares. -

All systems up and running, got a new project guy and they agreeded to refund any payments I make before the system was up and running, I did end up making 2 payments and it took awhile for the refund check to come in the mail but they did reimburse me so all good.
Only issue I had was the system has an app to monitor it all and you have to have top teir setup your account to use it and authorize you to change to settings of the battery.
Also I have noticed that the number of panels I have don't seem to generate as much kWs as I was told so might need to add more panels to off set power and the TAX break you get for having the panels installed isnt exactly how I was sold on. The IRS does give you a good amount, which with state and federal equaled close to 30gs but they only give you a little bit of it and the rest gets rolled over to the next tax year until it's paid out, Soo not great.
ORIGINAL Review:
They came to my neighborhood to go door knocking, and I've been thinking about it for a while now so I went ahead and did it. The salesman and I agree on how the system,With a Battery back up, would be hooked up so the battery would power my house the way I wanted it to, and when they came out to install the system they had No idea about any of that so I had to explain it twice before they understood.
Was told the system would be up and running well before the first payment for the system would be Due and since there was 3 months between them installing the panels and the payment due date I was good with it BUT there's less than a week till it due and the system is still not running PLUS my "Project Manager" Ryans phone Number is NO LONGER IN SERVICE!!!
What the Hell. I Don't recommend using Top Tier at all in fact I suggest they change their name. I know at least 3 "Uncle Bubbas" who could have had the system installed and running in a week and top tier has had 4+ months -
I told a salesman no I’m not interested a couple times and he continued with his sales speech. I told him to leave the property. As he was leaving he starting running his mouth. We had a verbal exchange and of course he gets out his phone. He then told me to get my wife to perform a sexual act. He mentioned that twice. He tried to bait people and then will video the encounter and show only one side.

We had Jonathan 1st approach us and was so kind and informative and then we so enjoyed meeting Julie. She also was so kind and not pushy and really wanted us to have all the information possible. She was very patient and to walk in our hike with 4 kids she was so welcoming and patient. I really wish we could have moved forward but financially it’s just not a great time for us. Best of luck Solar Tier and you guys are so blessed to have such incredible people sharing your product like Julie and Jonathan.

TL:DR ... Pressure based sales and misrepresentation of tax rebate
Got a knock on the door asking if I was interested in solar power. Said I was interested and made an appointment specifically, "to learn more." Person shows up and I immediately recognize it's a sales call. On-site salesperson was fine, but when I said I wasn't willing to sign any paperwork on the spot, he then called his "manager". The manager, Drew, was worse than a 1980s used car salesman. Non-stop pressure. Non-stop guilt. Talked about wasting his time. Wasting his salesman's time. If there's any reason not to do business with this company, it's pressure sales from people like Drew. It's an embarrassment.
Additionally, they mislead about the tax credit. It is not a check in your hand. It lowers your taxes but only if you're paying that much in tax. Otherwise it carries over to the next tax year. It is a non-refundable tax credit. They make it seem like in 6 weeks you'll have a check from the government for 30% of the price. This is 100% NOT accurate. You'll get the money eventually depending on your tax status, but definitely not a check in your mailbox in a month or two. -
If I were to suggest getting solar panels I would steer clear of this company. The worst customer service I have ever had, communication was lacking, customer support was done by text message only, the only positive part about this whole ordeal was the install crew that came out to install the panels. The whole process has taken well over 5 months and our system is still not up and running.
They rope you in with promises of great purpose only to leave you with grand disappointment, I wish we had never chosen this company for our solar needs. They promote themselves as this great company and fall extremely short of fulfilling that expectation. All you will hear from them is ...it's not our fault we can't control 3rd party inspectors, but expect you to pay the bills when they show up, regardless if they have not lived up to their end of the bargain.
Without a doubt the worse company I have ever dealt with and would not recommend anyone contact this company for your solar needs. Stick with paying the high cost of those electrical bills, at least you will know where you stand at the end of the day. ABSOLUTE TRASH! if I could give them less than 1 star I would because nothing about this company says star, Top Tier, it should be called Stay Clear. -
Top Tier Solar Solutions Team was very professional and courteous. From the interview thought the planning to the finished installation. Had 29 Solar Panels installed and was informed throughout the process. Recommend them to everyone looking to go Solar.

I love that Top Tier is family-owned while still providing top-quality service. The team really cares about their clients and takes pride in their work. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking into solar in the charlotte area.

They came to my house while I was outside and didn’t leave until 2 hours later because I forced them out of my home. They don’t understand what no means after telling them multiple times that we would like to do our own research. They try to teach us themselves about the benefit of having THEIR company. Once rep was told multiple times no he then proceeded to make a call to someone who then tried to sell us as well. That’s when we said get out.

If no stars was an option I would have picked it. Two weeks in a row I’ve had to call the police on the Top Tier representative who would not leave my property after telling them no soliciting please leave my property. The rep stated they were not there to solicit. If you are knocking on a door of someone you do not know you are soliciting. They told one officer they were contracted by AEP. I called AEP this is not the case. Even after being told to leave my property the individual continued to argue with me about why he did not have to leave. After he saw I was on the phone with dispatch he left. This week a different set of guys approached. Same scenario. When told no and asked to leave they argued about why they didn’t have to. I have signs up, cameras and this is all recorded. Horrible sales tactics. If you cannot teach your representatives how to be professional why would I ever want to deal with your company. Sadly when you call Top Tier to speak with customer service you are placed on hold and then asked to leave a message. I just want my address off of their contact list. I will continue to report and keep a paper trail off the harassment by these reps and report to the better BBB as long as it takes to have them avoid my home. No means no in every language. Take a hint Top Tier. Do better.

Top Tier is a predatory company. They solicit door to door selling “lower energy costs” and working systems. We had our panels installed at the beginning of July and they have YET to work in October. It has been the slowest process of any company that we have ever worked with. Additionally, when installing the panels the contractors put a hole in our roof and Top Tier is refusing responsibility because they said that the roof was weak to begin with. WHY THEN did they APPROVE a roof that was in THAT bad of shape?
A Top Tier roofing guy came to our home last night to inspect the damage and said “Well, your whole roof looks bad - here’s another loan from this same company to uninstall the panels and fix the roof.”
If my solar panels start working (which they said they will work soon , but they’re showing they will be LESS than what was proposed to us) I will be surprised. I will be seeking legal action if we continue to have trouble out of this company. DO NOT use Top Tier. -
I will NEVER deal with this company! I did make an appointment the first time before I learned my lesson. I got the hard pitch, real hard pitch and I asked for a week to think about it. I cancelled my appointment after researching this. They sent a salesperson to my door anyway. The salesmen knock and ring and knock and ring until you have to go outside. Then once they have you, they literally refuse to leave. I finally got her to leave and she says she'll be back...I say no don't come back, I might not be home anyway. She literally says, I'm coming back regardless. I told her I had things to do... She asked me what I had to do. Really??? They will park down the street away from your house and they will wait for you to come outside and ambush you. They will call their headquarters to make some"special deal" that you have to act right now to get. Whatever day they knock on your door is the day the federal incentives are ending and you have to act right now. You know what? If you have to resort to tactics like this there's something dreadfully wrong with the product or the company for both. The reviews say it all. Who's going to decide on the spot in the threshold of your front door to make a 30 to $40,000 purchase.. without any proof for guarantee that the product will even work for you?? Don't do it!! Read the reviews. The good reviews are probably from employees. They will not allow you to cancel an appointment. They will not leave when you asked them to. They refused to leave when you tell them to. They come back when they're not invited. They will even talk down to you, insult you and belittle you with talk of increasing energy bills. This was from a teenage looking girl. She probably doesn't even pay for any utilities herself. Top tier solar is anything but top tier. Bottom of the barrel solar is more like it.

We completed contracted work on 10/19/2025 with agreed Net 30 payment terms. The invoice totaling $6,785.37 was due 11/18/2025 and is now 76 days overdue.
Their Director of Operations confirmed that the balance is owed, yet all communication has stopped despite multiple attempts to resolve this professionally.
Failure to pay after acknowledgment and complete lack of response reflects poorly on how this company handles vendors. We would strongly caution other contractors before doing business with them.
Unfortunately I am now having to go through the small claims process -
Your reps came and knocked on our door after 7pm. Continued to talk and talk. Didnt even ask us if we were interested said we have techs in the area and that they'd be here in a few minutes. Then your tech Trey refused to understand that we weren't interested no matter how many times we said so. To the point where he was incredibly rude when he did finally leave.

I got 29 panels and they’ve never worked at what they quoted me. I was told that my electric bill would be less than $50/month for using the electrical grid to run them. I cut down trees in my yard to optimize performance and they still don’t generate what was quoted to me and has left me paying hundreds in electric EACH MONTH on top of the loan for the panels! Do not let them fool you!!! My electric bill has skyrocketed!!!!

We paid in full for my parents’ solar panel system and months later it is still not fully functioning. The company has repeatedly promised to come out and activate the system, but no one ever shows up and when they do, they still do not complete the job. Every time my mother calls for help, she gets excuses, transfers, or no call back at all. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. If this is not resolved immediately, we will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau and our attorney. Beware before doing business with this company.

Despite our no soliciting sign, someone came to the house claiming to be a representative of Doninion energy and asked if we’d be interested in a program of theirs to install solar and help us save on energy bills. Said they’d schedule an appointment just to provide information.
What actually happened is they sent a sales rep who pitched for 3 hrs while we were very respectful, but wouldn’t take no for an answer when we said we didn’t want to sign that day. Tried to get us into a 25 yr loan for $95k with lots of promises that we’d receive big checks from the govt. After I said no, she called her boss who tried to keep selling it to me. After 20 minutes of politely saying no, I had to get rude and almost physically escort her out of my house.
Save yourself the time, just say no from the start. -
We have Top Tier solar panels on our house. The panels look nice and work appropriately now, but our experience with the company has been extremely frustrating.
The panels were installed in April 2025 but not turned on until September 2025 because Top Tier forgot to file the inspection paperwork. We missed the best summer months for solar production. We called weekly to get this resolved and rarely received responses. We were promised compensation and follow up from company leadership, but that never happened.
Most recently, we were told a representative would come to check our system and discuss our concerns. Instead, this turned into a two hour high pressure sales pitch for a battery system that we were not told about in advance. When I ended the meeting because my kids needed to go to bed, I was told I was being rude and heard a representative say, “What an awful environment,” about our home.
Misrepresenting appointments, ignoring service issues, and using pressure tactics is unacceptable. We will be escalating this matter and documenting our experience through formal consumer complaint channels. -
We had our panels installed by Top Tier mid September, was there a lot of steps in the process, yes, but they walked us through each one and as of this week our panels are activated and producing. Our project manager has been very helpful, answering all my questions and keeping us informed. I look forward to seeing the benefits of us switching to solar.

This company is amazing! The workers are always friendly, professional, and make you feel comfortable. I really like that it’s a family-owned business it gives a personal and welcoming touch to everything they do. You can tell they truly care about their customers and the quality of their work. Definitely recommend!
