Electrical reviews in Charlotte, North Carolina

I've had my system for quite some time now. It's not what they claim. I was promised it would completely eliminate my power bill. Now I have two bills. It's impossible to get someone on the phone or to answer texts. I wish I had never heard of this company. Buyer/consumer beware.
-
tl;dr: We are so happy with the result and the decision to take the jump with Top Tier!!
I was very wary in the beginning when a door-to-door salesman approached me when I was finishing my lunch break and on my way to go back to work. Thanks to their thorough explanations, confidence, and prompt actions, we would recommend Top Tier for any and all solar projects in our region! The communication was solid and they were very patient with my anxieties and questions. -
Bait and Switch. Unethical business practices.
Landon called me about "a code we can't clear remotely. We need to come out and clear it manually." When asked if this was a service call or sales call, he explicitly told me it's a service call covered under my warranty.
NOPE. Sales rep came out, waled around my house, and started telling me about battery storage solutions.
Called Landon back to clarify the intentional deception and he threw the VP under the bus. "I'm just doing what I'm told. There" Landon may not have a choice in his employer, but there are several choices for solar in the greater Charlotte area. -
Top Tier Solar Solutions definitely deserves the company name they selected. It was eight days from the time I signed the agreement with their sales guy, Jeff Pearson, that the installation crew was at my home putting in the system. They were here at 8:00am on the dot as scheduled. The crew was very nice, professional and respectful of my home and property. They worked hard until finishing and cleaning up at approximately 5:00pm. Now, I can't wait to get the county inspection and start making my own electricity!

Bait & Switch. There’s reputable companies out there and also better reputable people you can deal with, unfortunately bad apples will and can ruin the bunch. Pay attention to the actual breakdown of numbers also anything that is being labeled as “money” from our garbage government as a sales point should be thrown out automatically. Pushy sales are lame, it sells itself If it makes sense on all dots.

Once they get your money, they are very hard to get a hold of for any repairs/service. During the sales and installation process they are very responsive and get the panels up as quick as possible so they can get paid. Once the panels are up good luck trying to get someone to answer the phone! When you finally do get someone on the phone and get a repair date, they won't give you a specific time but instead say they will call so that you can be home. That is a complete lie! They will randomly show up without calling beforehand as agreed upon. I tried calling the company when my cameras alerted me to the technician arriving and agaij no amswer and placed on hold for over 30 mins. Please consider using a more professional company if you are interested in getting solar panels. ***UPDATE*** this company is a complete scam. A man named Davis from the company contacted me and said I was due for a solar assement survey to make sure everything with my system is working fine. This ended up being just another sales pitch. They tried to sell me a battery pack for my solar panels for $24,000 or $180 per month. I use about $70 worh of electricity per month so how in the would would this save me any money? Their salesman told me that the solar programs were changing at the end of 2025 (2 weeks away) and if I didn't purchase the battery now my bill would go up 40%. I called dominion energy and they confirmed what he said was a complete lie and I am not on the program he was referring to that was ending in 2025. I looked up the battery and he was trying to sell and I can buy it for $7500 instead of 24k

Top tier solar has been amazing to work with. I was the skeptical one at first but after talking with Nathan, Jeff and Ben who are all very wonderful to work with they completely changed my mind. My husband and I are very pleased with the work that they have done and in such a timely manner. I am glad we had the chance to work with this great company. I would recommend these guys over anyone and even for the skeptics like I was trust me it is worth it.

Extremely dissatisfied customer. Everything was great until our panels suddenly stopped producing energy, entirely. We just got the panels installed in April 2025 and finally up and running in June 2025. We have been without energy producing panels since December 2025. It is now, March 2026. We’ve reached out to the maintenance team just to get an appointment a month out from when we called. As soon as the technician came in, he then said we have to wait once again for the part replacement(which he ensured us would’ve been quick considering our system already sent the fault to their team) Their warehouse and main office is located in Charlotte. We’re in Fayetteville. It has been a month since the technician last dropped by.
I was skeptical to do business with this company considering they were smaller and just starting up but I went along with it anyway. So please yourselves the headache and go with another company that is more reliable because we bit the bullet on this and now we just shot ourselves in the foot. -
Proudly display an American flag on the side of their trucks, and claim on their website that:
"We use modern, American-made panels and top-of-the-line products to build a high performance system optimized to meet your home’s energy needs."
Box of solar panels in the back of the truck. Says" made in Laos" -
We got solar through Top Tier and were disappointed after the installation. We found that we didn't get the inverters that we were promised by the sales team, the monitoring system that we paid extra for doesn't do what was presented by sales, and the installation team left wires hanging down touching the roof and I had to contact them to come out and fix this.
Make sure you read through the entire quote as well if you do go with them as we were talked to my wife and I thought we were going to be offsetting 100% of our energy bill just to find out that its only about 60% so now we are paying a lot more than we were before. Hopefully long-term it will still pay off but short-term it is going to cost us a lot. -
Very disappointed in this company. We already had our solar panels. Bought the solar battery pack it's been installed for 3 weeks now, and it's still is not up and running using totally electric. We were told the county was behind on inspections, but called the county yesterday to find out they never filed for a permit. I almost and still thinking come get this stuff. I'm wondering did the permit get fixed with our electric company.

We recently got solar panels at our address, not too long ago. We just got a bill from Duke power around $295 for power usage from November to December, which is very close to the same amount we were seen before the panels. The rep came to the house, looked at our Duke power bill and mentioned that having panels would negate these type of bills.
Looking online at some of the reviews from you guys and it appears this is an ongoing issue. They haven’t done anything to ensure that us customers are satisfied.
The past communications have not been that great so I’ve been unimpressed with how the communication has been to this point, but would love to hear what a resolution is for this issue. Cause this is the main reason we got the panels was too lower our power bill not to have a panel bill in power bill around the same amount. -
I went solar with Top Tier in May of 2024 and was blown away by how seamless, organized, and thorough the process has been. I continue to be amazed with the level of follow through and customer service that Top Tier provides. Going solar is a complex process that I never could have navigated on my own. It takes a large team of knowledgeable and dedicated people to make it happen.
I had always wanted to go solar but was nervous to sit down with a sales consultant, due to all of the horror stories in the news and on social media. My experience with Jeff Pearson and the entire service team: to mention the least of; Lauren, Nardo, Travis, Ross, Kristy, Andrew, Brian, Robert, Pete V, Lisa, Daisy and the install team, was phenomenal. When I first sat down with Jeff, he taught me about the process of going solar and what to expect. He included me in the process of designing my system, which was based on the needs of my farm and animal sanctuary. He did not treat it as a “one size fits all” product. Everybody’s energy needs are different, and he made sure that my system would be the right size to accommodate the extra energy usage that my animal sanctuary requires. He genuinely cares about his customers, and you can tell the second you meet him that he really loves solar!
I’ve had a mountain of issues with this property, due to other parties, but none of them phased Top Tier, no matter how complicated the process got. They truly went above and beyond, helping me with things that went beyond their expected scope of work. Top Tier truly operates as a family and have exceeded my expectations for how a business should comport themselves. I absolutely adore my system and the wonderful team who made it happen! -
This place is a total scam. All they do is try to sell you on lies. Even though we felt something was off, they pushed us through the process as quickly as possible capitalizing on the fact that my husband and I work separate schedules (telling him one thing and me another) and passing the buck. They overloaded our circuit box so they wouldn't have to wrap it into the loan and lied and told us we could add panels to the load after buying an electric vehicle and when you contact someone for put those promises into action, they tell you "we don't do that" and then try to get you to sell to other people to get you more panels to "fix the problem." And they buy all their 5 star reviews! They reached out to me with a gift card before the installation process ever started and before I realized how garbage they are and then I couldn't locate the review once they botched the job. Don't buy with this company!

I don’t get the panel system with them but I want to share my experience with other people. Today they went to my neighborhood and my husband open the door to them by mistake because we was waiting a package. He was nice with them because we are like that but after 4 hours when we listened the offer we decided to not apply because we want to think about it and the person (seller or whatever) wasn’t understanding the meaning to NO want to apply or pull out our SS in any documentation and he was continuing pushing us to apply. For a second I thing that the company was a scam because he wasn’t have any id with his name and the name of the company, he wasn’t want to send by email his presentation with the numbers , he don’t have any presentation card with his name and the name company name and phone number and those things mark a red flag!!!!. I still scare about those person that enter to my house saying that is this company . I will call my security system and update my security because I’m dont trusted if they want to do something in my house .

This is going to be a long review. I want to give as much information as I can about how things went with getting Solar Panels for my home with Top Tier. They came around the end of November of 2025 promising drastic wonderful change to our electric bill if we went solar. We started the process of everything just before Christmas time. For the installation process of mounting the solar panels and the battery to our house, I would give a 5 star rating all the way. Excellent service. Professional and awesome. The turning on of the solar panels however did not happen until February of next year due to waiting on Duke Energy. This wait had little to do with Top Tier. So I wanted to address that since I've seen reviews of madness due to the wait it took for them to be turned on. It very much relies a lot on your energy company to do inspections and approve things. Customer service has been top notch with Top Tier. They let you text them, not just call. Answers are given in a gracious manner and most of the time right away. So customer service is 5 stars all the way. How about the quality of the product? The product is awesome. Seriously, I doubt you will find better. I love that I can personally see how much we are saving and how much we are producing with the app that comes along with this experience to guide you. You control how much storage you put in your battery. Yes, do get the battery. The battery serves as a backup generator for your home for certain rooms and your refrigerator. Just imagine the power going out and you won't even lose Internet service from it. This to me is the best part, to have backup power to my home without needing a gas powered generator. Ok, great. How about my electric bills? I waited until now to make this review so I could address that. 2026 has been a very odd year with weather patterns...freezing to summer and back to freezing, so it's been hard to not be gracious to the solar panels doing their best when I'm using so much energy with our HVAC with all these temperature changes. That being said, the bills I had this time last year were significantly higher than they are now with solar. My next bill due in May shows that I have saved $200 by going solar. I still owe $96...but hey, this is great savings for sure to not have to pay almost $300 a month for electric and instead just pay $96. Now was the pitch given to me more like, "You will only have to pay $30 ...$50 tops!" <<< Yeah...that was the sales pitch. Am I seeing that yet? No. Will I eventually see that as we get closer to summer? Hopefully, but even if not...I am still pleased with the huge discount of a lower bill. Any down sides? Yes, you have to make sure they do the paperwork correctly to match what they have told you. I caught something that no one else did and dealt with a huge amount of stress to get it fixed so that their word was kept. Was it fixed, yes. I have had a happily ever after finally. So this whole process took MONTHS. So expect that.

This is a horrible company, not only will they tell you it will run your whole house for a week if the battery backup is installed. Then you find out for 32k it will run the refer, microwave and a light. When you question them they tell you it can’t power anything on a 220V circuit. So you will burn up in the summer and freeze in the winter. The system won’t even produce enough power to offset the grid power you use.
IF THEY COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND TRY AND SELL YOU ANYTHING, get rid of them. I’ve saved a friend from spending 48k with this company.
I have also contacted the NC Attorney General’s office along with the BBB.
They promised to install a generator to run my AC and after the solar was installed, they said no one told me that. THEY WILL LIE AND CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND ALL YOU’LL HEAR IS CRICKETS.
Oh and if anyone is dumb enough to use this sham of a company , they will send you a video and make you turn the whole system on without sending anyone. Mine didn’t work and they took a week and two different techs to fix. My shitty system at best will produce 26 kw, battery takes about half charging and sends Duke about 2kw.
I just hope everyone reads this PLEASE. Pic’s attached so you don’t think I’m not a real pissed off customer.
Update 7/18/25
After telling them the above, they said they are sorry the lies they used to get me to purchase didn’t meet MY EXPECTATIONS. Rather than a whole house generator to run HVAC unit they offered a 500 dollar RV generator (3600 watt). It was up to me to figure out which 2 lights I wanted to power. No heat or cool. AGAIN, STAY AWAY FROM THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY!!!!!!
The response from owner again doesn’t address the issue of them telling and selling us on ‘system will power your whole house for a week’ sales pitch. I have no idea what numbers you are telling I’m wrong on, can only go by what the solar edge app tells me it’s producing and what it’s sending. It still won’t power the HVAC system, nor will the RV generator you are pushing. Maybe you need to be truthful with potential customers. -
These people come to my home all the time. I have told them time and time again that I'm not interested and that I do not want to buy. I have a NO Soliciting sign, and no trespassing on my door.
I have a video of the rep saying that he was from power company, i asked to see his badge. He lied like i though. that's not the case. He also was rude and keep hitting the wind shine i have by my front door that he would hit with his hand when he didn't like what I had to say. Next time they come to my door i will be calling the cops.
if only i can give the a 0 stars -
Rating: -5 Stars (If That Were Possible)
If I could give this company a negative rating, I would. This company is full of scammers.
Twice, I was told that my solar panels would fully cover the energy needs of my home. The first system consisted of 24 panels, which I paid $50,000 for. Those panels did not perform as promised. To be fair, I did purchase a second EV afterward, which increased my usage.
Because of that, they sold me a second system of 20 additional panels for another $45,000, claiming this would cover my increased usage from the second EV and any additional household demand.
For context, I live in a 1,300-square-foot ranch home with only two people—my wife and me.
After spending nearly $100,000 on solar, my electric bill is the same as it was before Top Tier installed a single panel. That is completely unacceptable.
I have:
• Written directly to the CEO
• Spoken with the Project Manager
• Reached out countless times by phone
Eventually, someone contacted me and admitted there was an issue. I was told they would install better inverters and additional equipment to make the system produce as promised. This conversation happened last year. To make matters worse, they said this “upgrade” would cost me another $10,000.
Since that conversation, no one has followed up, no one has shown up, and no one returns my calls.
If you are considering solar panels, go anywhere but here. You will not be happy, and once they have your money, there appears to be very little you can do—other than write bad reviews.
1/20/2026 Update
I cannot believe the audacity of this company.
After my original review, a rep called me and I assumed they were finally going to fix the issues I’ve been having. I even scheduled a tech visit. Instead of solving anything, the visit turned into a sales pitch for a $24,000 battery backup.
Let me be clear: I’ve already spent close to $100,000 on solar panels and I STILL have a $300 electric bill. Why would I give this company another dime?
When I pushed back, the rep called his boss, who offered $3,000 toward past electric bills—but only if I bought the battery. Once I said no and told them I no longer trusted them, the offer disappeared and so did their interest in fixing the problem.
This company has lied to me twice, failed to deliver what they promised, and then tried to upsell me again instead of making things right.
Stay far away from this company. I will be filing complaints with the Attorney General and the BBB.
Do not use them. You will get burned -
People have their opinions on solar energy and direct marketing too. From our own experience, dealing with Top Tier has been straight forward, low drag and altogether positive. The people who helped us were hyper responsive and very patient too given that we had a lot of questions.
True professionals from top-to-bottom. -
1 star because i can’t give less.
We purchased a solar system with 12 panels, trusting the company to properly size it for our home. Two months later, we were told the system was underperforming and that we needed to purchase 8 additional panels. This should have been identified before installation.
The company attempted to address this by referencing a $10,000 tax credit, but this did not resolve the issue. Our solar payment is over $200 more per month than our prior electric bill, even during slower, warmer months. If the tax credit is not reinvested into the system, the monthly cost increases.
We are now dealing with multiple roof leaks throughout the home, with the worst leak located directly beneath the solar panels. Because the panels are installed over the affected area, temporary mitigation is not possible without removing them.
A professional roof report identified saturated sheathing, improper or missing flashing, racked architectural shingles, and nail pops near the solar mounting points. Industry standards require solar panels to be installed on structurally sound roofs, and these issues should have been identified prior to installation.
Despite multiple emails and phone calls requesting resolution, we have received no response.
Based on improper system sizing, installation on an unsound roof, ongoing water damage, and lack of communication, I would not recommend this company.
