Dave checks all the boxes. He took care of a water main leak at the foundation, plus he replaced the adjacent, original gutter drain with materials that should've been used in the first place (S40, clean-outs, etc.) He has good equipment and used it safely. Dave made all the necessary arrangements and passed inspection on the first try. I can easily recommend him.

Dave at Z excavation was awesome to work with! The process to get an estimate, ask questions, and schedule the work was quick and friendly. I reached out by phone and he came out within a couple of hours to look at a drainage issue I was having on my property. I received an estimate that evening and Dave performed the work the same week, which included all new underground downspout drains and a french drain installation. He showed up on time, did a professional job and solved the drainage issue. Highly recommend!

At a very fair price he included cleanouts and he recommended schedule 40 pipe based upon my situation.
He carefully established the correct fall to ensure proper flow away from my foundation. He carefully tamped the refilled trenches and cleaned up after the job.
Finally, he was exceptionally good to work with. He’s honest, knowledgeable and affordable.

Dave came to inspect and work up an estimate the same day we called for a water leak repair. He gave us options, the pros and cons of each, and worked with our schedule to make sure it got done within city deadlines.
Nobody likes to have a water line repair, but working with Z Excavation removed a lot of the frustration.

When I saw water coming out of the basement wall, I thought I was in big trouble. Called Z excavating and Dave came out within an hour and gave me a price. He got on it the next day and four hours later everything was great. He even installed a new sump pump for me at the spur of the moment. I would use him again in a heartbeat. A nice guy too.

Dave replaced our main water line. He was professional, on time, easy to reach, and honest. We are recommending him to our friends and would call him again if needed.

After contacting this company about our water main leak Dave arrived the same day to look at the issue. He gave us a quote and we were able to communicate with him to schedule a repair between the holidays and severe storm. While a few unexpected issues came up he did everything possible to replace the line as intended. He went above and beyond to ensure everything worked properly and ensured all work areas were cleaned up. He was timely, showed up when promised, got the job done, and stuck around to make sure it was all good. He even stopped by the next day to make sure everything was working and cleaned up appropriately. We highly recommend and would use again.

In short: An excellent job!
The long version: The underground service line that delivered water to our single-family home, developed a sizable leak. Because of the continuous water loss, the City gave us 14 days to fix the problem or they would cut our water service.
We requested quotes from four repair companies, among them Z Excavation. If I remember correctly, Dave was the second one to show up, the day after my request, and made a repair cost estimate. His offer was the best value and had the best warranty. So we asked Dave to do the job.
Communicating with him was very easy: he always notified us of the next steps and responded to our questions quickly. Both by text and voice.
On the day of the main job, he showed up on time and started to work. He used a small excavator and also placed large plastic boards on the ground so that our lawn was minimally affected.
There were a couple issues that made the job harder: the ground turned out to be a very compacted one so it took some effort to dig out the two ends of the service line. Also, the line had a sharp turning point that made drawing the new line harder. But Dave handled the situation quickly and efficiently.
He also had to do work in our basement: he did a neat job connecting the new pipe and replacing the main valve.
Dave also handled all the necessary City permits and obtained the final inspection. The inspector approved the job on the first visit.
By early afternoon, all of this was done and we had our water running through the new service line. No leaking whatsoever.
In the process, two concrete pieces of the sidewalk had to be removed. Dave explained to us that the sidewalk cannot be poured back on the same day -- the ground needed time to settle. So Dave had to come back on a later day to finish that. Again, a very neat and nice job.
We can highly recommend this young gentleman. He did three types of job: excavating, plumbing and concrete work. And he excelled at all three. Thank you, Dave!

Dave replaced our old water service line from the street into the house after it began leaking in our front yard. The work was well done, with attention to detail, and I felt like I could communicate any concerns to him during the process. He was friendly and professional and I would recommend working with him.
