Helping my ex out with a failing AC unit. The tech came out, inspected, declared the compressor is bad but "could" be started again with a "boost" (hard start cap) for $500. Of course it didn't work, so then he said because of the way the hi-efficiency heater was installed he couldn't get to the AC coil in the blower stack to replace just the AC unit, and so both heater and AC would have to be replaced.

He then went over options ranging from $15k-$20k. Luckily I convinced my ex to decline.

Next day a different company tech came out. The AC unit was indeed dead, but because refrigerant was gone due to a leak, not the compressor. So $500 down the toilet for nothing. The AC unit was 30+ years old, so it did need to be replaced. He said getting to the coil was not a problem and a new AC unit could be installed for about $7000, or a much more efficient heat pump for $7500 (after $2k federal tax credit). No new heater.

Buyer beware... very beware.

Tuesday July 26, 2022. It was over 100° outside. Our home AC stopped cooling at noon. By the time we got home and tried to selfdiagnosed the issue by 530pm. Most HVAC local shops are closed or closing by 6pm. My brother and I went on a hunt for an AC capacitor at Home depo and Lowe's with no luck. I then called more rhan 10 places and again most were closed. A few reps did answered my call but were more focused on making an appointment with theirs techs for next month since everyone is slammed with this heatwave. Moreover, I got two calls from two different numbers and one text. Global international Heating and Cooling Co. employees were working on a job in the ungodly heat. They were more than willing to save our lives by providing us with a much needed capacitor in order to get our AC blower back online. They took the time to help us out and even offered to help us with our AC unit. All other places were not willing to provide us with the capacitor and just sounded as if they wanted to get off their phones. I recommend this company to everyone else and we are planning to hire them and recommending them to our friends and family members. God bless everyone! We are forever grateful and they have earned our business and most importantly, our respect. We need more people willing to work and help others when humanly possible 🙏 🙌 🙂

I texted to set up an appointment for routine maintenance, expecting them to be booked, and they ended up coming over the same day! They found an issue with the original installer's set up of the AC drain, fixed it, and added a shutoff sensor.
