Needed a custom chimney cap built, plus misc wood stove parts. The cap was delivered ahead of schedule, and was made to our specification - it fit perfectly. Will recommend them without reservations to my friends!

Wished I had learned about this place sooner! So awesome to have a supply shop that is friendly to DIY'ers. If you need HVAC ducting, fittings and registers, this is absolutely the best place to go in the metro area. Don't waste your time at the big box stores - they carry limited items making repairs or adjustments to existing HVAC ducting nearly impossible. I wasted two days and multiple visits to different big box stores simply trying to move a heating duct a few inches. Within minutes of coming here, I had the exact parts I needed and they even crimped one of the fittings for me without charge to make installation even easier. Great place!

As a first time visitor into Vinje and Son I found the staff to be friendly, efficient and knowledgeable in a vast array of technical and practical skills. They were patient with me through every question I asked, and I came away feeling confident that I could tackle what I thought would be a daunting task. These folks rock. After having a series of "experts" charge me thousands to not fix my heating problems, I decided to do it myself. I'm a seasoned DIY-er, but not familiar with HVAC. Craig and the others at Vinje/Do-it-yourself were friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and relaxed. They helped me design a solution, provided the gear and info I needed, and quickly answered emails and phone calls when I had a detailed question. They also cheerfully accommodated my special requests. I recommend them highly!

vinje & Son were willing to work with me on my job. As a first time remodeler they took the time to give me just the help i needed. I am over the moon happy with their customer service. The custom ducting they made for me fit perfectly and gave me the much needed head height i needed for my basement. Do not go anywhere else! This team rocks!

I am a plumber and prefer DIY for most jobs at my own home. I needed a new furnace and set out to acquire the parts and appliances that I needed. If you've ever tried to purchase HVAC materials at wholesale you will know that it is very difficult. It is interesting that unless you are an HVAC contractor most places will not sell to you. Vinje and Son seems to know this and try to capitalize on it. Their prices far exceed full retail. I was able to find the same things online with shipping to me for a fraction of the price. I still went to Vinje for some of the smaller more specific parts and found most of what I needed.
Other reviews say that they are knowledgeable and helpful but you must add "only if you purchase from them." I saved about $600.00 by purchasing my furnace on line and spent other money at Vinje and Son. When I tried to ask for clarification to a particular point in the installation manual for the furnace they said "I wouldn't know, Not my furnace." I pointed out that the furnace I was installing was identical to one in their showroom and he said again "Not my furnace." This time I understood what he was saying "You didn't buy this from me so I'm not going to help answer your question." I understand the frustration that I would purposefully try to go around his astronomical markup on the furnace and then ask him for advice. How would he make any money if everyone did that? I have an idea. Try charging a reasonable markup and offering plenty of free advice. If Vinje had been more helpful and more reasonably priced I would have no problem making this my go to shop for all of OF My HVAC needs. I would also tell customers of my own about them. Now all I'm saying is "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!"
To Vinje and his son I would recommend a book by Seth Godin called "The Linchpin" if you read this book your attitude will change and your business will prosper.

The last time my AC had problems, the tech came out and replaced two fuses and charged me $150. That was OK because it was 100F and the family was having a bad day. Well the tech I used last time decided it was his time to retire. Good for him. Not so good for me, so I thought. I pulled the fuses and went to Vinje & Son Inc. and got new fuses. The folks in the store told me that it was common for capacitors to also go out and showed me what to look for. I went home, replaced the fuses and the AC did not work. I found the capacitor, sent a picture and they had one in stock. They showed me how to replace and test it....and now my wife and kids are happy. THANKS Again.

These guys are great! My furnace stopped blowing heat. I contacted 5 HVAC companies. Only two responded/answered and they were both booked out for a week. Vinje & Son had the part I needed in stock so I could get the furnace working again the same day for a lot less than I would have paid an HVAC company. I didn't think DIY HVAC was realistic. Now that I know it is, I'll be contacting these guys again so they can help me make more changes and upgrades in the future!

This is the best business around!!! Always friendly and helpful. They keep their word and provide professional input around HVAC needs. Knowledgeable, and technical support is outstanding. I called today and talked to Craig about a furnace issue , and he did a remarkable job. Heat now works inside, and it’s snowing outside!

AC Compressor/Fan Dual Start Capacitor Failed during hot weather. Spent hours calling around town looking for one and nobody wanted to sell to someone that was not an HVAC Contractor. Kept asking who sold to non-HVAC Contractor and someone finally referred me to Vinje & Son. Called, a live person answered the phone (Craig), and they had exactly what I needed and were willing to put in on hold while I charged over there (pun intended). The new capacitor was slightly larger, so they even cut a sheet metal strap for fastening. Excellent customer service. Thank you as you made me look like a hero for getting the AC going again. Will definitely use again. Much appreciated!

Emailed Craig for a custom magnetic board I was creating for my office. They were prompt with their responses and patient while I waited to hear back from a local powder coat company. I was very happy with the finished product. Will definitely come back for any future projects or ductwork. Can't go wrong with them. Please support your local shop!

This is the third time I've worked with Vinje & Son keeping my old furnace going. Replaced the control board this time the old one burned out. Ordered the new board on Friday May 1st picked it up Sat. May 2nd. Craig was able to answer a question I had regarding A/C fan and I think all is solved. I could have bought the board for less on line and guessed it was the correct one, paid for shipping, waited for days, and had no one to talk to about the A/C fan. Good idea to buy locally if possible, especially now. Good place to do business with.

I'm a residential contractor and an avid DIY'er when it comes to my own shop and home. I've visited Vinje & Son numerous times for both my woodshop dust collection system and my home furnace system. Everytime I go in there I'm refreshed by their patience, lack of ego, friendliness, and willingness to help. I'm never afraid to ask them stupid questions and I always leave confident that I can do what I need on my own without paying someone else do do the work for me. They've done great work when I've ordered custom made items and they are very knowledgeable and eager to share that knowledge. I find it very rare that people treat their customers as well as I treat my own so I greatly appreciate a place like Vinje & Son Sheet Metal.

No one likes to pay exorbitant amounts of money to stay warm if they can help it. I have to say that Craig was amazing. A few companies that I called couldn't/wouldn't help me locate a model # and a serial number. Craig did! He got me into the right box area and I was able to read it to him. I paid for it over the phone, picked it up and it fixed my furnace. I'm now basking in 68° heat...not 54° like it was last night. Ugh!

Problem: our control board went out so it wasn't sending any current to our Nest thermostat.

Solution: Vinje & Son had an immediate solution that was about 20 minutes away. They saved me well over $400 and helped reassure me that I could replace it.

We purchased a new furnace from Vinje about 5 or 6 years ago. They made it super easy to install ourselves.

This weekend, in the middle of winter, that furnace quit working. In less than an hour, Vinje's amazing employees totally walked me through diagnosing the problem and fixing it--saving me some serious money. Thanks, guys. You totally rock.

Thanks for being a local company that supplies furnace parts. My furnace wasn't working properly and I had three separate repair companies come and evaluate it. None of them completely diagnosed it correctly or fixed it. I ended up buying a flame sensor and igniter and fixed it myself. Thanks!

I'm in the process of installing a furnace at my church. I contacted Vinje & Son to help me with the project. I found the customer service to be OUTSTANDING! They have exceeded my expectations in everyway. The person I worked with knows all the details about each step for installing a furnace. He designed the transition pieces to match perfectly with the existing ductwork. It looks awesome. On top have having great service, their cost for parts and service is by far the best in town. I highly recommend Vinje & Son.

After some frustration with a local service tech I went to Vinje and sons and had a conversation with Greg. He was so patient with me as I showed my pictures and explained all that has been done or recommended by a service tech. With negative results. Rather than just throw another part or sensor at me he explained to me a few things I could try first. I tried his suggestions and low and behold I have a working furnace. I can’t say enough as a DIY type how awesome it is to have a company like this around. All my future purchases of this nature will go to them to repay them for this help.
