Plumbing reviews in Portland, Oregon

Please believe the bad reviews. I had an atrocious experience with these people . I had a water main break in the middle of the night and when I was aware of it, I called Rescue Rooter by 5:00 a.m..They didn't tell me exactly when the emergency 24-hour plumber would come and when I called back in a while to find out, they said between 8:00 and 10:00. Well, the plumber didn't show up until 1:30! By then, I had already called the fire department to shut off the water source at the meter, which I couldn't do and which the people at Rescue-Rooter did not inform me about until hours after the leak happened and damaged the flooring and sheetrock in the finished basement. So when the guy came he didn't have to find the leak, he didn't have to stop the leak, all he did was attach a hose to the meter as a temporary fix to feed water into my house at one of the hose spigots.
AND THEN I WAS CHARGED $1000 FOR 2 HOURS OF WORK! -
Literally the first online review I've ever felt the desire to actually write. We recently had a pretty catastrophic sewer line failure (to a septic system, no less, not city sewer hookup), and I was so impressed with how they handled everything.
We are no stranger to old homes, nor the difficulty in repairing them, especially when surprises come up. And ours threw it out in spades.
Long story short- we were very impressed by Jordan and Joseph (and their apprentice/journeyman who's name I am appalled that I forgot). They were meticulous, transparent, and they really took their time troubleshooting what ended up being a complex plumbing repair. Every step of the way they were open about what they were doing and why....communication was fantastic. They also had to pivot multiple times due to one repair no longer being viable (i.e., digging too close to our foundation which would have cracked it) and troubleshooting the next step.
Were there frustrations? Yes. Are we happy about what it cost? No, but old homes rarely care about what they cost in catastrophic repairs. Was it reasonable for the work done? Yeah, I believe so. Were there delays due to burdens bringing in different experts who were on a different timeline (e.g. excavation experts/asbestos mitigation). Yes. But the work was extremely professional, very well done, and really clearly communicated. They were unbelievably clean, courteous, clear in communication, and very hard-working on-site. Honestly, one of the best contracted experiences we've had, and we've had our fair share. The only reason I'm not posting 5 stars is because I didn't get extra bids due to the nature of the plumbing failure. We have a decent knowledge base to understand what some of these types of repairs run in cost, especially in 1943 homes, but I cannot say 5 stars when I didn't vet additional contractors; that's simply not a legit review. That said, this was no simple repair- it involved the city, carving through concrete flooring, excavating layers of dirt and rock (and hauling it out), asbestos mitigation to get to the concrete, flushing the line, and "sleeving" the line through a complex machinery access with a very expensive material, etc. -
Terrible experience. Find another company.

(Modified review: At least a representative from the company called to apologize for the extreme inconvenience.) Worst experience ever. I called the day before to set an appointment, telling them clearly we were located on an upper floor. I called the day of service to verify the time, clearly stating that I was staying in town only until they arrived. The driver called to say he was on the way. I again verified we were there. He then called to say that parking was a problem downtown. I gave him various options, including two spots I could see from the window. I told him how I had waited all day for the appointment. He called back and said it was just too much trouble. Outrageous. Terrible service. I would give zero stars if possible.

The darn spare bathroom's sink and our not-too-old water heater have been trouble for awhile. Hubby had to shut off the cold water to the sink because the pipes leaked, and the hot dripped endlessly! Thank you so much, Kenney & Einstein Plumbing, for the quick, same-day response and excellent service! It's so nice to have cold water and no drips! The water heater was shutting off randomly (brrr! cold showers suck!) for several months now, and Kenney performed some electrical surgery and we should be good as new! This business card's going in the "Keep!" file!

My wife and I had a waste-water pipe rupture under out kitchen sink in the middle of the night. I called Einstein the following morning and they sent out a plumber within a couple of hours.
Kenney Bush arrived right on-time and was able to assess the situation and provide us with a couple of options. Even though we ended up needing to call a Restoration company to remove some of our basement ceiling and drywall, Kenney was right by our side providing detailed information and suggestions. He was able to repair our broken pipe and even installed a new kitchen faucet and dishwasher, checking all of our water access points in the process.
Overall, I was very satisfied with Einstein Plumbing, as well as Kenney's professional attitude and dedication. I will be contacting Einstein again if I need any maintenance performed on my house in the future. I would strongly recommend Einstein, especially Kenney, to anyone looking for dedicated customer service, fair pricing, and professional expert advice. Thanks Kenney! -
I called Einstein plumbing to fix a leak in my main water line. I found the leak myself 12 inches from the meter. I have pvc for my main line and needed a simple fix to repair it. PAID 35 dollars for and estimate. He gave me a estimate for a total line replacement of over 5000 dollars. Never did receive one for a simple repair of my main line. All they had to do was remove the bad joint( where the pvc meets copper). So instead of fixing my leak in a hour or two, they want me to replace the whole line for 5000 dollars and wait over a week without water !!! I called a different plumbing company and they said it would be an easy fix, and I won’t have to wait for over a week to get my water running. Einstein should at least give me back my 35 dollars as how they NEVER did give me an estimate for the simple repair ! Beware !

Fast and Reliable service! I am very satisfied with their work and the price. Will surely give them a call again soon!!

Excellent communication booking the appointment, excellent communication confirming arrival time, friendly and professional service tech, provided a range of options after diagnosing the problem, no pressure to buy or pay for services not needed, and some helpful tips on how to temporarily fix our problem while deciding how to permanently fix the problem. On top of all this, their fee was reasonable. A very positive experience.

We had an emergency plumbing issue and had to shut our water off at the main source. These guys were able to squeeze us in in a reasonable amount of time. I was emailed a name and picture of the plumber who would be showing up (LOVE THIS). He called when he was on his way and arrived on on time. He looked at the job, told us what needed to be done, we approved the work and he got started. He was great at explaining everything to us. He was quick and did a great job. I will be using and referring Einstein Plumbing & Heating again.
