Plumbing reviews in Portland, Oregon

I called the company at night, as my water heater was leaking, and I was draining it, spoke to a woman, had it all set up, for the next morning, asked if there was a service charge- she said no. Good, scheduled the appointment.
Get the call, a service tech was on his way.
2min later I get another call, actually there is a $99 service fee or he won't be coming. I told him I asked about that the night before, can it be waived?- it was their mistake. NO.
Then he added the pressure- so I have to know if I should call our man off the job right now because he's in route.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE- hide the fee, pressure the customer when the tech is already in route- I asked if the owner would wave the fee for their mistake. NO.
No cost estimate as reassurance.
Don't use this company. -
Excellent customer service and communication from the scheduling staff to the plumbers who came to my home. I greatly appreciated the Covid protocol the company follows.
Brandon and Allejandro were courteous and knowledgeable. They diagnosed the problem and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and made sense. I decided not to use their service at that time. They did not pressure me or try to persuade me to use their service, simply said if you need us again give us a call. There was no service charge for evaluating the problem. I’m impressed with the business model of this company. -
I had a great experience using rescue rooter. Our technician was Shae. He was on time, very knowledgeable and gave us a great deal to what we were quoted else where. He explained things to us in a way we could understand. I would definitely use them again!

We had an issue with our main line backing up and we have a flag lot so it’s a lot of pipe to clear. Steve responded to our call and proposed a solution more suitable for our needs. Plus he found an access point we didn’t know existed which helped to flush out the problem. Dave came over to double check the piping as they thought there could be tree roots causing the problem. Luckily they aren’t! They were so helpful and went above and beyond to solve the problem. We used another company in the past twice last year and it was more expensive, plus didn’t solve the problem for long and they didn’t have the right equipment then tried to charge more money to come back. The price was right with Rescue Rooter and they got the job done!! Dave and Steve are our hero’s!! We will absolutely use them again.

Made an appt for frozen pipe. Waited four days, which is understood. Water had to be turned off, as it was leaking from living room ceiling. Got a call 10 hours before service indicating they don't actually have a plumber available and won't be sending someone. Acted as if this was standard business practice. Clearly unreliable and lacks integrity. Do not recommend.

I had a great experience with Matt and Dave. I had a plumbing emergency on Christmas Eve they came out to fix it and unfortunalty due to something out of their control it happened again the day after Christmas. They got it taken care of for me and also found the root of that problem and fixed it. I couldn’t have been more grateful with their professionalism and kindness at such a stressful moment especially during a holiday weekend.
Thank you! -
I made an appointment on the phone for a Sunday (for an active leak we discovered Saturday night). Based on other reviews, I called the morning of and was assured that a plumber would be coming during a 6-hour window.
Then in the middle of said window, an admittedly pleasant person called (thus 2*) to tell me that their call center had scheduled me in error, and they didn’t schedule plumbers for Sundays.
Find a different call center. Fix your communication. -
I sat for four hours waiting for my plumber. Finally I checked in with the office, since my four-hour repair window was almost over. I was told he’d be coming - maybe just a bit late - but I pressed for more detail, so she called the plumber. I was called back and told he was busy for several days and wouldn’t be coming at all. I’ve been sitting in a vacant house for 4 hours waiting for the appointment. I’m obviously livid that there’s no chance, now, to get this shower leak fixed until after Thanksgiving. They are NOT available 24/7 and they don’t honor their appointments. Don’t waste your time.

I called at 7:30 am and told the person who answered that I had a clogged line going to my septic tank. I was told someone would be at my house between 8am and noon. Sometime around 6:30 pm some showed.up. The price I was quoted was under $100 dollars. When the person looked at my system and discovered my 1929 farm house did not have a clean out a new price near $800 was given to me. I told the technician he could leave as I was not going to pay that much. He told me if I left a good review he could discount the price. I ended up paying under $500. The technician was professional and did a good job. I was not impressed with the sell low and then change the price later. Be sure and ask lots of questions. In the end even if I was unhappy with the corporate side of the company, I was happy with the work. A solid 3 star effort.

I contacted rescue rooter to fix a clog in our bathroom sink. Everyone I spoke to was very polite and professional. Shae was the technician that repaired our sink and he is awesome! Very friendly and got our drain fixed quickly. My one complaint is that I was given an appointment window of 8am-12pm for expected arrival, and my technician wasn’t able to be here until 3 pm. It wasn’t a big deal, but a more realistic time frame would be appreciated in the future. I would definitely recommend Rescue Rooter to a friend and use their service again.

Still waiting on a call back from a supervisor…
Called Saturday to request an emergency drain clearing (only bathroom). Scheduled Saturday 2-6p. Received confirmation text confirming such. No one showed up. When I called to inquire at 6:30p, the rep said the appt was rescheduled for the following day and she didn’t know why. I never received notification this was the case, and would’ve called someone else if they couldn’t get out same day. They stated a supervisor would call within 30 min. Nobody did. When I called back at 7:30p, a different rep said the appt was always scheduled for the following day, even though I had received a text confirmation stating otherwise and confirmation from the first rep that the original appt was Re-scheduled. After taking off work to accommodate a confirmed appt only for them not to show or communicate, I attempted to search for an email to write a private message, but of course could not find one, so a public message it is. -
We made a reservation weeks ago to install a water line for an ice maker in a new refrigerator to be delivered today June 20.. It was confirmed June 20, in the afternoon between 12 & 4. At 10:47 this morning, I received a call from Rescue Rooter saying they would not be here and further that they can't reschedule. So much for good service.

So, it's not often you give a five-star review for a service company that "did nothing." But this is one of those.
We have used Rescue Rooter in past years and always been delighted with their work. But tonight we had an emergency where we didn't need "work" done, we needed advice to handle a plumbing issue that could have caused us to shut off the water to the house for potentially days.
I called R R and Michael was kind enough to tell me that my idea of what to do to temporarily stop the water flow from the busted shower control valve was indeed safe to do - while keeping the rest of the house operational.
It turns out unbeknownst to me, my contractor had already called a "regular plumber" to come in the days ahead, and so I didn't need to follow up and schedule Rescue Rooter for the actual repair, as I had planned.
But Michael helped me just because he is a good guy and this is an ethical firm. We will always call them in the future - and make sure next time there is a job they can get paid for!
You should, too. -
We had a sewer line backup and called Rescue Rooter. They were on site within two hours and got things sorted out. They ran a video of the line and we were able to see where the problem was. They were able to clear the plug and then ran the video again and discovered that the sewer line outside the house had partially collapsed. They cleared the line enough such that we could use the line until they got a permit for the replacement. They showed up when they said they would and I was very pleased with the replacement work that was done and the speed of completion.

Rescue Rooter took good care of our basement flooding emergency. They arrived within maybe two hours, did impressive scoping to diagnose the issues, and proposed solutions. With our approval, days later they started a major project to completely redo the wastewater connections in our basement. They completed it within time and estimate, in spite of it being over a major holiday. We would use them again but of course hope it will never be necessary.

If I could leave, no stars I would. Called two days ago to set an appointment for a leak repair and a garbage disposal replacement. They called right before their estimated time to be there saying that they do not service the area. I took the whole day off for this repair. They blamed it on the call center. This is a very disorganized company. I would not recommend this plumbing company.
-
Very disappointed. One of the buildings I manage had a toilet get stuck with the water running. Now it was later in the afternoon early evening, but I called and told the call center the issue. They gave me a same day time since it was an emergency. Then I was called back by the local office and they went over all the details, just to be told that their evening plumber only really just clears drains and can't repair the toilet.

This company took advantage of an elderly couple charged in 3 times over just to clean out a pee trap. This job should have cost no more than $250, and the poor couple were charged $1000!! This is elder abuse!!

I own a small dog grooming business that had an emergency water problem. Our landlords refused to help us and we found Rescue Rooter online. They went above and beyond to fix our issue promptly, even coming in on a day off to finish the job. We worked with Kyle and Graham and would highly recommend Rescue Rooter's services to anyone experiencing plumbing issues. We deeply appreciate your help with our business.
Happy holidays, best wishes and puppy kisses! -
I have had very good plumbing experiences with this group until recently when I learned that a few of their plumbers are involved in kickbacks with a fairly disreputable water damage mitigation company. Watch out for people that suggest drytime or any water mitigation group too quickly because they’re getting kickbacks. I was told by a guy from three mountains that he would give his life to that company who has put a lien on my house because the insurance company will not pay their exorbitant fee fees And my insurance company views this mitigation company as one of the most disreputable in the area. Buyer beware and shame on you Three Mountains for not monitoring your plumbers a bit better than that.

Bad experience. They gave me a 4 hour arrival window, but never showed up. When I called to ask about their status, I was told I'd get a call from a tech with an update, but that never happened. Would strongly recommend hiring another company.
UPDATE: In their response, Rescue Rooters asks that I reach out to them directly. Unfortunately, it appears that when you reach out to these folks it goes to a call center, so this invitation is just posturing in hopes that others will still use their services. I recommend folks steer clear.
