James at Tree Medics has been super great to work with. He is incredibly knowledgeable about plants, trees and gardening. I've learned so much from him. I highly recommend Tree Medics for your garden needs. Oh, and it was so worth investing in the one hour assessment of our yard. Thank you so much.

Great experience with knowledgeable agriculturists/arborists. We knew we were in good hands the whole time; we love how they prioritized the health of our trees! Every team member was professional with a very high level of expertise. Highly recommend.

James (owner) came and looked at the trees overhanging our roof that needed proper pruning to redirect specific branches. We scheduled the pruning work & two workers arrived as expected with an attached trailer to haul away the cut off branches. Both of the guys were friendly and did a great job. We were very pleased with their response and the work that was done. Thank you!

These guys not only do a great job, but have great integrity where they put the customer's interest first.

Initially I reached out to them strictly to procure tree removal service, and while they could have rendered this service to me, I was instead referred to another company that they said would be much more affordable for simple tree removal service since Tree Medics are more specialized in tree restoration and upkeep. However, while they were on site, they mentioned that our dogwood tree in our front yard was a bit sickly (unbeknownst to me) and suggested services to maintain it so it would continue to flourish.

Very glad I found these guys as it saved our most favorite tree on our property and also saved us a lot of money in referring us to a tree removal company that was $2000 cheaper than an estimate I received from another in-town tree company.

Glad to have found this company. They were one of two competitive quotes, went with James because of his knowledge. The two man crew did a great job. Super clean up and communication. Hired them for my dad’s house but will use them next year for mine. We have dumped a previous tree company relationship since they sold to a large corporation and have failed to impress.

We previously worked with 2 different landscapers and and a different arborist, all highly rated and none of them knew what they were doing, causing most of our trees and shrubs to wither and die.

Tree Medics is the real deal and worthy of their high ratings. James the owner is an expert arborist; he instantly identified the issues, personally selected the right replacements for our needs, and took the time to explain the science behind his recommendations. The crew was also great and highly trained, ensuring everything was planted properly.

Their schedule is busy for a reason and they are worth the wait! Highly recommended!!

James came out to look at the job of cleaning up 4 big trees that haven't been touched for 20 years. James is clearly passionate about trees! The crew arrived promptly and worked hard all day. I was very pleased with the job. I'll have them back for other work and happily recommend Tree Medics.

I cannot say enough good things, so I'll tell the story. Our front yard tree never leafed(sp?) this year. Dead. A beautiful & mature thornless-Hawthorn. I got some quotes to have it removed & Tree Medics was the 3rd. James said, "Do you want to try to save it instead?". He described the science behind the shock the tree was in & the potential rescue option (Tree Medics are TRUE ARBORISTS). He gave me the realistic expectation of 50/50 chances of success based on the signs the tree was showing. It was worth it to me. A few weeks later I had an opening to have them come for the tree treatment. James (& David & Michael) all came to the conclusion that in that time, the odds of success dropped by quite a lot. They said that the rescue plan was no longer viable, especially with the heat of August ready to start. I am amazed by the integrity of this company that they spent a few hours in planning, sent 3 high caliber workers, and they eventually said that we should NOT do the quoted job because it wasn't the right plan anymore. I never write reviews, but I was looking forward to writing something in support of James & Tree Medics.

James and Mason take excellent care of all our trees. They're so knowledgeable and capable, and keep the trees in perfect condition, even saving two of them. After years of dealing with inexperienced and ineffective arborists, we're so glad to have found them. We highly recommend them!

Tree Medic personnel Mason and Gabe were delight to work with for my small project of pruning and a removal of a small tree. They were efficient and conscientious - will work with the company in the future!

    Update as of December 12th:

James and his team are absolutely awesome. He has bio-wrapped our (about 150 arborvitaes), added beneficial micronutrients, compost tea, and added garden mulch and I can already see an improvement. I am SO grateful that our small community of seniors chose Tree Medics for this job. They are the best. We are very grateful we went with them. See pictures below. The picture on the left is before work and the picture on the right is just a month into saving our beloved arborvitaes. Can't wait to really see the improvement in spring.!🤗

Tree Medics is amazing. James, the owner is the real deal. He is a true tree expert, and has many years of experience saving, not destroying, trees. He's truely a tree doctor.
His team of plant care specialists are amazing. Right now, we're in the process of trying to save a lot of arborvitaes in our retirement community. So there will be an update to this review. However, our arborvitaes are in terrible condition and we feel we definitely have the right expert for this job. Jame's team will be coming out next week to test our soil and our trees. He uses his own microscopes vs sending samples to a lab and we are confident James will discover what is killing our arborvitaes and hopefully save them. Tree Medics team of experts are super easy to work with and they sincerely care about the health of our beautiful PNW trees and they, thankfully, have the expertise to save them.
If you love nature and want to perseve the heath of your trees, Tree Medics is the company to call. Stay turned for an update to this review as Tree Medics solves the mystery to our dying arborvitaes.

Tree Medics did an excellent job trimming my tree and securing it in case of wind storms. I love this tree and was so happy to save it. Mason the crew chief was wonderful and they cleaned up the yard of debris. I highly recommend this company

The owner was very knowledgeable and strongly emphasized their use of integrated pest management. Looking forward to doing more business with them.
MONTHS LATER: I’m looking out at my back yard, sipping on my morning coffee, and truly believe my backyard has never looked this lovely, particularly with what it was like before. The addition of nutrients and eco-friendly pest control, as well as thinning and providing advice, have produced healthy and full plants and trees. I will definitely do more business with this company!

Tree Medics did a great job on opening up the canopy of the bushes. Previous landscapers just hacked away at the tops and sides of the bushes, but didn't prune correctly. The pruning will also enable sun to reach sides of house to eliminate mildew. First picture shows overgrown rhody in bloom before pruning, and second picture shows pruning after blooms have dropped. Third picture is a different bush showing opening up of canopy.

THE Remodel Group had an outstanding experience working with James, the owner of Tree Medics. His level of customer service is truly exceptional—he came out to our SW Portland basement addition job site on his day off, with just a few hours’ notice, to assess unintentional root damage to our client’s cherished wild cherry tree. James took the time to thoroughly explain the overall health of the tree, drawing on his extensive horticultural knowledge, and developed a thoughtful plan to address the damage.

His expertise and dedication not only helped heal the tree but also ensured many more years of enjoyment for our client’s family. James and the Tree Medics team far exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend them to anyone in need of a knowledgeable and caring arborist.

Last year I was concerned about fuzzy mildew covering a 50-ft big-leaf maple in back. James took a look, gave advice on other shrubbery around the house and said the easiest solution for the maple was to collect the leaves when they fall (though he'd normally prefer to let them return to nature). It took several weeks disposal in yard debris but fuzzy mildew did not return the following year. Great insight, straight-forward solution and cost-effective.

It's rare you meet someone that truly prides themselves on their integrity, knowledge, and honesty over sales. We called J&F (Dan) to look at trees at our house in Hillsboro that we thought might need to be removed or at least trimmed (thinking they might be a danger to our neighbors), but Dan looked them over thoroughly and told us the truth - that the trees were beautiful, and unlikely to be a danger to anyone for the life of the trees, and that he'd be happy to help us, but only if we want them gone or touched for some other reason (like wanting less shade) but that really, we're already good to go!

He came the same day I called, precisely on time, and left without even trying to sell us a service of any kind. Happy, kind, and professional - and not at all bothered that he drove all the way out here without any hope of a sale... He just took care of us like a good neighbor telling it like it is.

To be clear - It was obvious that Dan KNOWS his craft, knows his trees, and how to care for them and manage them depending on any situation. But when his job isn't needed, he's not afraid to pass on business and take care of you. That's rare these days, and I can tell if I ever need help with these trees, or any others in the future, he's the one I want to call.

Thank you Dan and J&F Tree Service!

We needed some major deadwooding and trimming/pruning of multiple Douglas Fir, old Japanese Maples, rhodies & fruit trees. I saw the quality work that J&F did in a neighbor's yard so I gave them a call. John came right out to take a look and kindly answered all my questions about the health of the trees. We talked about what was best for the trees while providing safety in a yard often occupied by dogs and grandkids. He gave a quote which I found very reasonable compared to others. No pressure, no upselling. The crew was out the next week, showed up on time, and then proceeded to expertly and quickly take care of everything on the list. Carlos did a beautiful job of thinning the giant maples while maintaining their graceful shape. And thank goodness those 'widow makers' way up in the firs are no longer a threat! The whole crew was friendly, worked hard, and left no mess behind. Thanks so much J&F Tree Service ... see you next year!!

I could not be more pleased with J&F Tree Service!
I had two large trees taken down and a very large maple trimmed back a bit.
The whole crew was friendly, but professional. They were careful to protect my yard (and my chickens!) from their falling debris and made sure to clean up and sweep all the clippings & chips up before they left.
I would highly recommend J&F Tree Service.
