Great service! Al is excellent and very friendly. My wife and I bought a home in Mount Lebanon that was serviced by AJ Buerkle for years. After our first plumbing issue we called our Home Warranty company to have the issue fixed for their service charge. The line was flushed and problem fixed; however, the plumber (not AJ Buerkle) tried to pull a fast one and told us our sewer main line needed to be replaced (thousands).

We then wanted to get a second opinion since the home warranty places don't always use the best plumbers. We called AJ Buerkle, who recommended that we get an independent camera line testing company (paid for my our home insurance too) to film the line and then he would review the footage with us and recommend any work we needed to be done. After sitting with us and watching the footage, he informed us that the line was old but was honest with us that no work was needed.

It goes without saying that--unless it is a small job covered by our home warrant--we will never use another plumber for any service in our house. Honest companies are hard to find and they are always worth the small added costs.

My parents and I have trusted Al and his company to come into our homes over the last two decades for emergency plumbing service as well as scheduled service, and they have always been professional, courteous and successful in performing their work.
They do the work that others either can't do, or aren't willing to do, and they do it for a fair price in a timely manner.

I wanted to post a whole-hearted and enthusiastic recommendation for AJ Buerkle Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning. We had an obscure leak from our 2nd floor laundry room into our kitchen. It was not easy to locate what was causing the leak. It involved cutting holes in a wall and a ceiling to locate the problem area and a remote camera to understand the problem. AJ Buerkle (father & son) managed the entire problem from beginning to end including a second professional to utilize a remote camera and then scheduling dry wall repair. Throughout the entire process they were courteous, informative, and extremely neat while doing their work. I was so grateful that they didn't simply identify a problem and leave me to figure out how to proceed to fix it. I cannot give a high enough recommendation for this company. The care, thoroughness and professionalism they displayed was what you hope for when facing a problem in your home but is not always easy to find. They removed all the stress for me while dealing with an urgent problem. It is a local family business that I am happy to support and recommend.

Called about a leaking toilet tank at 8:00 am on a Tuesday morning. Explained that granchildren were arriving in a few days for a weekend stay, and that we needed a quick repair. Plumber onsite within a few hours. Problem (cracked tank) identified. Replacement options explained, with a promise to return the next day with a new toilet. Old unit removed; new one insalled by mid afternoon Wednesday. The very helpful people at A.J. Buerkle have been taking care of us like that for 30+ years.

Overpriced parts and a 1 hour minimum labor (for 15 min.) equals and outrageous charge for a fairly simple service. They didn't have have a fairly common part on the truck, so when they came back with it and installed it quickly, they charged another hour of labor. Never again will I use AJ Buerkle.

The second time A J Buerkle saved us in two years! This company is fantastic - great price and superior service. My 100 year old Mt. Lebanon home would have been under water (and other substances) without their help.

My neighbor had recommended AJ Buerkle to me, and they didn’t disappoint.  Our blower on our furnace died and John showed up same day even though we were never a customer prior.  He was a straight shooter and very helpful.  He got our blower working but strongly suggested a new furnace given its age of 27yrs.  He did this but acknowledge they wouldn’t be able to get it done quickly so he recommended another company.   He truly was doing what was right for me and not himself which is hard to find these days.  I will use them moving forward for sure!

Needed my gas line extended to install a gas stove. The service was quick, and they were very mindful to keep the house clean. They also did an excellent job running the gas line so that it doesn't look out of place in our finished basement.

Service was great and honest with the options, process and pricing. John came for a HVAC maintenance but we ended up using his service for a few more things, installation of the whole house humidifier, installation of an attic gable window fan and repair of the minor water heater issue.

Fixed my ancient furnace, quickly. On time. Responsive. Clean, friendly. I'll continue to use, what more could I say?

Our tankless water heater malfunctioned on a Sunday evening and Erik came out Monday morning to assess the issue. It was determined that the unit needed replaced and he had the new one installed by Wednesday morning. Both Erik and the office staff kept me up to date along that way so I was able to stay informed. We have been using Frew for many years and the service it always top notch.

I thank Frew for prompt response, and quality service. They did a repair on my 5 year-old boiler they installed.

When I was first looking for my new high efficiency boiler with 5 zones I requested quotes from 15 plumbers. Frew was not only the first to respond, they sent tons of pictures showing their work on other sites, came out quickly to review the project and returned a quote promptly. It was completely detailed with "menu options" so I could pick and choose. I suspected they might have been higher price so I wanted to wait until I other quotes. To my surprise, only 5 plumbers actually came out. 3 obviously had never done this type of work before, 1 submitted a quote that was about $3000 less but not detailed and I was worried that while the project was underway he might say "that will cost more". The last plumber I had to call to find out what was going on. He said "thank you for calling. I am having problems doing your quote". (meaning he too had not ever done such a project). My mind was made up and I called Frew and said yes. With the quality work they did it was immediately obvious I made the right choice and I tell anyone who asks to go to Frew. I know my old boiler was terrible, but my gas bills dropped by 70% so the savings was more than worth it and very soon my boiler will be paid off just by the savings.

Frew was very nice and answered any questions I had and I recommend Frew!! You won’t be disappointed!

Ridiculous prices at least for small jobs. They do return your calls and do show up and the plumbers are nice so that’s why I give them 2 star. For the exact same service (a snake and camera in the sewer drain) Matt Mertz Plumbing charged me $0 (it would have been $64 but they waived the fee because they couldn’t get it unlocked). He was here about 2 hours.
Frew was going to charge me over $550 (including a fee for a second person that I didn’t ask for). In the end they removed that and still charged $436. They were at my house 1 hour and 20 minutes and I live 6 minutes from their location and also did not unclog the issue.

Literally every time I use them I am so frustrated with how they price.

I’d give them a chance to quote for a large job but would not recommend for small jobs.

We’ve been using Frew since we’ve purchased our home. Their logo had been stamped all over our basement, and we figured if the previous owner used them, then we may as well, too. We did not regret that decision. They are prompt, courteous, clean, but most importantly knowledgeable and skilled at what they do. Their prices and charges are reasonable, and they ensure they do not have to come back for the same job (other than system check-up’s). We have been VERY happy with the services from all the techs who have come to our home. We highly recommend Frew, Inc. For all of your plumbing, heating, and AC needs.

Frew Plumbing has been a great resource for a few years now. Every water and plumbing issue, has been resolved! Matt was recently hear and did a great job detecting my issue, identifying the source and made all the modifications necessary to resolve my issue! Frew Plumbing is not only a great resource but are reasonably priced as well. When you call Frew, you will not be taken advantage of. They are amazing! Thank you, for always providing great service!

I had them come out to check on a leaking home humidifier which they had installed in 2022. Turns out it was a simple problem with user error when I changed the filter. The technician did the quick fix and then offered to do an HVAC inspection so I didn’t pay the service fee for such a small issue. I appreciated the professionalism and attention to detail.
