Eric and his team (Brian) helped quickly assess and fix a bathroom faucet issue quickly after several unsuccessful attempts with other local shops. Communication was clear and responsive, work was done quickly, and the price was fair. I will continue to go to Eric for all of my plumbing and hvac needs going forward.

This company is as good as it gets ! Eric is so amazing to deal with . He is a great communicator, a top notch tradesman and as reliable as you can find . If you need a plumber you will count yourself very fortunate if it's VT. Plumbing , heating and cooling! Best around and a real nice guy too . Will keep there number on speed dial !

I don’t hesitate to recommend Eric Jipner (Vt Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning) at every opportunity. I knew Eric casually when I needed to call on him to rescue us from a very bad installation of a new boiler that another plumber had installed. It was leaking in multiple places and original installer was unavailable. It had been installed so poorly that Eric had to reinstall it! And he’s been available every single time that I’ve called him for any work that I’ve needed him to do. His costs are fair. He operates with the highest level of honesty and integrity. We’ve owned our home for more than 30 years and Eric is the first contractor that we’ve ever hired with complete confidence that he will do whatever job correctly and efficiently.

Having VT Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning's help with our bathroom renovations was a godsend. We had 2+ years of delay after delay- it was amazing to see the project keep moving thanks to their help! Highly recommend this family business! They're fantastic to work with- skilled, responsive, efficient and courteous. We're so grateful!

Moving to a new area, I did not know who to call when I realized my house had some major heating system issues. I went to the Efficiency Vermont website and started contacting heating services in the area. Eric from VT Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning was not only the first person to return my message, but he legitimately was concerned about the safety of my home and seemed really excited to do the job. Although he was swamped with jobs, he agreed to install my new heating system, and he did it with top-notch professionalism, great communication, and did amazing work. All of the heating system issues are resolved thanks to Eric. In addition, he is well-connected in the area and was able to refer me to other service providers for other things I needed done. To say he went above and beyond would be an understatement. In addition to providing amazing service, he is an outstanding person who quickly gained my trust. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to Eric. He's the best!

Bernie Gage Plumbing & Heating has been our plumbing and heating services provider for a long time. We own many properties and cannot settle for anything but the best possible service. Bernie, Melissa and their team give us expert service. They are reliable, friendly, and a pleasure to do business with.

Update a year later:
I continue to get exemplary service from the folks at Bernie Gage Plumbing. Bernie, Melissa, Rebecca, Stephen, and all the others on the team are simply terrific.

In mid-July 2023, I emailed to arrange for some plumbing work as part of home renovation projects. I immediately received a response from Melissa to set up an appointment for an initial site visit. Unfortunately, on the day of the visit, I had to respond to a medical emergency for someone needing CPR, so I missed the service tech. Melissa was understanding and graciously re-scheduled for the following week (end of July).

The service tech, Stephen, came out and did a thorough job, took pictures of all of the work I wanted done, even found some problems-waiting-to-happen. He's a super-nice guy, even gave me some advice on raising chickens. When he was leaving he said, "It'll be a while before we can get back to you." I didn't ask what that meant, but it did seem like a weird statement...

I reached back out to Melissa 11 days after Stephen's visit (early August now), just to ask for an estimated timeline. We were going to be going on a two week vacation in September and I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be an unexpected "We can be there tomorrow" call when I was away. I never heard anything back.

And I still haven't heard anything back. Even if Melissa somehow missed my follow-up email, they still had Stephen's site visit info/photos to work with, which should have triggered some kind of re-connection...maybe?

Anyway, a lovely experience until they "ghosted" on me. Pretty discouraging...even an email saying, "Sorry, we're not going to be able to do that work for you" would have been helpful communication. It delayed me in searching for another plumbing company.

I had been a loyal customer of Bernie Gage for several years, but I can no longer recommend their services. Be aware that they bill travel time for all of their service calls—not an unusual practice, perhaps. But their billing begins, not from their headquarters, but from whereever their technician happens to be. If you live locally and you are lucky to be the first service call of the day, you will pay little extra. If they schedule you after a customer in Essex, as they did with me, you will be charged an extra hour of labor ($120) for travel, on top of any work that is done. Their technician even showed me his log. While he had spent 54 minutes at my house, I was billed for two hours of labor. Why should I be responsible for another customer’s location? This is an unfair and arbitrary practice, made worse by the fact that it took four visits to fix the problem I was having with my furnance. None of this was ever disclosed to me until the bill arrived in the mail, and the bill was adjusted only after several phone calls to complain. Needless to say, I will not do business with them again.

Please do not hire Bernie Gage Plumbing & Heating for your service needs. In August, 2023, we had them out for routine maintenance on our boiler. Unfortunately there was a persistent oil smell throughout our house. After two more attempts to fix the issue, we were met with attitude and felt dismissed. We even had to call the fire department due to oil smoke filling our house one evening. At this point, we called another company who remedied the issue quickly.

On a follow up call from BG- the office manager was rude, interruptive, said she didn't have time to deal with our concerns, and even hung up on us. Very disappointed in the customer service aspect of this company and lack of follow through.
The technicians were kind and respectful to our home but unable to diagnose the problem. We don't blame them for the part that went bad on the boiler- but wish we were met with a little more compassion and skill.

Called for repair for a possible leak in my kitchen sink and a leak in my bathroom. Due to them having an emergency had to reschedule. I understand emergencies come up but would've been nice for them to at least call and give me the option to reschedule or thefact that they had an emergency as you shouldn't leave customers hanging. Hopefully they show tomorrow.

I've used Bernie Gage for a few minor repairs over the years and they've always done a great job. But this December was when our boiler broke and the team really shined. They did everything they could to fix it before eventually having to replace it. They fought with the manufacturer for our warranty. From the service team onsite to the staff at the office, everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had heat in time for Christmas. I can't recommend this company enough. They truly care about the people and homes they service.

I wanted to take a moment and share my experience with Bernie Gage P&H . I have a specialty lift pump on my lowest level of my home. I have found in the past that it is difficult to find someone to work on these when there is a problem. I use Bernie Gage P&H for all my normal servicing needs and always have been more than satisfied. I called the office early one morning and was so pleased that they were happy to send someone right out. The company went above and beyond by getting a new motor that runs that pump in their service truck to be prepared because they do fail . I was so pleasantly surprised that they cleaned the other pump and found out it was just a switch that needed to be replaced at $75 instead of $750 for a whole new unit ! This company is absolutely a honest, professional business to deal with. I cannot recommend them enough.

Fast, no fakeouts or unnecessary recommendations, just great service from great people at fair prices for their work. Glad to have worked with them and will definitely come back for future needs. They are great!

John has handled several "old house" plumbing issues for us and is reliable, fair, and experienced. We highly recommend him.

My garbage disposal stopped working and I called John to see if he could come out to take a look. He was heading out the door for a long weekend, but took the time to walk me through a couple of things that might fix the issue and offered to come out when he got back. His suggestions solved the problem! I was so grateful that he took the time to help me. I'll definitely call John the next time I need a plumber!

I was more than pleased with the job that was completed at my house it went very smooth. The 2 guys he sent were spot on the whole time,and they are Get R Done kinda guys I've worked on some of the same jobs with Gould Plumbing over the last many years and they've grown into a nice respected company and theirs a reason for that Thank You Jeff,and his crew

We had a broken hot water heater and called many other local plumbers but know one wanted to tackle it. JA Gould called right back and came right over and had us up in running with hot water in a matter of hours. So professional and went above and beyond to help us out. Even added a few shut off values we need. THANKS again🙂

This is the first time I had used Gould's and I was very pleased with their work. They replaced a valve on a leaking steam radiator. They came out within 24 hours of my call (fit me in around other jobs.) Their employees were professional, polite, and good communicators. I highly recommend using them.
