I found 1st Choice Energy through the City of Austin Energy Rebate Program and I am so thankful I did! When I called for an estimate I was scheduled right away. Bill Cook came to my home and took the estimate. He listened to my concerns with the current system, walked me through the entire process, shared pros and cons of each line item they were recommending (complete with hand drawn diagrams to explain some of the concepts), and shared the timeline/next steps for the process with a loan through the city rebate program. It turns out my 1984-built two-story townhome was a unique case, which was confirmed by the city inspector and a 3rd party audit inspector upon the final inspection (this is a requirement of the city rebate program). Even when things didn’t go exactly as planned (see unique case) Matt and Bill were fair, explained everything, made sure everything was to code, and even suggested the most knowledgeable inspector from the city do my inspection to make sure their solutions were correct and to code. All the folks from 1st Choice Energy were respectful of me and my home and they took care to clean up after their work. As mentioned, my city inspection had a 3rd party auditor. Both the city inspector and 3rd party auditor shared unprompted that the solution 1st Choice Energy came up with was the best and safest they could imagine for my home’s unique set-up. The result has been great so far - I had no worries during the freeze in February, and the airflow balance for the hottest room in the house has been much improved. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend 1st Choice Energy to anyone needing new HVAC and insulation installation and would recommend the City Energy Rebate Program if your home might qualify.
