Review of Dunrite Heating & Cooling

I’ve used Dunrite in the past and previously appreciated their professionalism and quality service. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has fallen far short of that standard.

In April, during a routine A/C inspection, Dunrite reported that everything was functioning well. However, during a subsequent home inspection as I prepared to sell my home, a separate inspector noted an A/C issue. I asked Dunrite to take a closer look, and they then discovered a failed compressor. Given my circumstances, I made it clear that I wanted to invest minimally. Despite this, they strongly recommended replacing the entire unit, citing warranty issues and parts availability.

Ultimately, I opted to replace just the part—at a cost of over $6,000. I was told someone would contact me to schedule installation, but no one did. I followed up, only to find out I was already on the schedule without having been notified. The part was eventually installed—but the issues continued.

Within two weeks, my downstairs unit wasn't cooling properly. The thermostat was set to 76°F, yet indoor temps exceeded 80°F. I called Dunrite again and requested a follow-up inspection at no charge. The technician who came was professional and helpful—he diagnosed a leaking coil and offered to reduce the cost by charging only for labor. I appreciated this gesture and proceeded, though it still cost over $3,000.

Once again, I was told I’d be contacted for scheduling. This time I did receive a call, but it was last-minute—fortunately my work schedule was flexible, but that may not be the case for everyone. The team arrived and successfully completed the fix.

Then, to my surprise, my upstairs unit started overheating just 24–48 hours later. Dunrite came out and diagnosed the same issue as the downstairs unit—another leaking coil—along with recommendations to replace three parts totaling over $12,000. That number was shocking, so I opted to replace just the coil at a cost of over $6,000.

Unfortunately, the same scheduling missteps happened again. I wasn’t contacted to confirm a time until I called, only to learn I was already on the schedule. I asked that they come after a critical work call—yet during that call, I received calls and texts from their team saying no one would be arriving and I’d be rescheduled for 8 a.m. the next day.

The following day, no one arrived by 9 a.m., so I followed up. I was told they’d likely be there by 9:30. That time came and went, and by noon I learned the part had been sent to the wrong location, which was closed for the holiday weekend.

I requested a partial refund so I could pursue service elsewhere. I was placed on hold repeatedly and told a manager would contact me—no one did. After the holiday weekend, no technician showed up first thing Tuesday morning as promised, and again I had to follow up myself. I asked to speak to a manager and was routed to a voicemail. No return call.
    In summary:

Communication is severely lacking—I had to follow up repeatedly to get basic updates.

Customer experience does not seem to be a priority.

Pricing is inconsistent, with significant fluctuations for similar repairs.

Escalation handling is ineffective—promised manager callbacks never happened.

To be fair, Dunrite's technicians are knowledgeable, and they do provide thorough inspection reports. But this experience has been frustrating, costly, and time-consuming—and left me feeling unsupported throughout the process.

Regretfully, I cannot recommend Dunrite at this time.

I had a problem with my air conditioner not cooling and called this company for help. Within a few hours a Tech named Andrew came out and found what was broken. He show me the part that needed replacing and ordered it for me. If they treat all their customers this good, they've got my business from here on.

Jeff was a great to work with! He is friendly, professional, careful, and complete!

His thoroughness in checking everything identified a dead run capacitor in the outside unit that I would never have suspected to be a problem!

Jeff talked me through what he was doing and taught me a lot about my system. He was able to quickly identify what was working properly and as he did that told me what numbers and conditions he looked for as normal so we both could see what was abnormal.

Jeff was quick, complete, professional, and friendly as well! I will be glad to have him come out to take care of our systems again!

My repairman was prompt and knowledgeable. Made the repair quickly and informed me that it was working but working harder than it should. Recommended an additional part that would take the stress off the compressor but did not try and push the sale. I told him to do what he would do if it was his house. He replace the part and the total amperage that the unit was pulling dropped considerably. I appreciated the honesty and not hard sale tactics. My house is nice and cool again and running better than ever. Also got early next day service. Thanks again.

The company offered a free spring air-conditioning check. The young gentleman came out to my house and after about 30 minutes, sat down with me and told me both my attic and outdoor units needed to be replaced ASAP. That I had a coolant leak and the unit would not last for another two months. The fee $20,000.
I told him to put that in writing in an email which I never received.
After he left, I checked, and he never even changed the filter which I asked him to do.
I had another air-conditioning company out and they said my unit is fine. No leak. Has plenty of coolant.

    This company is extremely dishonest.

Very thorough and attentive technician. He took the time to explain the issues and drew pictures so I would understand better. I didn’t feel forced into purchasing anything. He met my budget needs.

Jeremy was prompt and professional. Worked hard on my problem and was able to isolate my problem to electrical issues. I have scheduled a appointment with an electrician. Jeremy has promised a follow-up if the issue is still no resolved
Jeremy offered some insights in maintaining older appliances that were valuable

We had a clog in the PVC pipe that goes from the attic to the bathroom down stairs. It would fill up the overflow tray and stop the air conditioning.
They keep coming back at no charge till all the clogs were gone after 25 years of debris . It was so nice to have air-conditioning people that were so knowledgeable about what was happening. I will definitely use them in the future.

I received poor service from these people. They installed a 5 ton unit at my house. On a post installation visit, they told me that I needed $7,060 more work done or the unit wouldn’t work correctly. I no longer trust their work.

Dun-Rite replaced our entire home HVAC system in 2023, and their service is great. This week, the capacitor in one of our units died, leaving us with working fan but no cold air. They were able to fit us in same day, and were onsite within a couple hours of my call. The tech was professional, polite and clean, and checked the entire system before presenting us with the diagnosis and our options, with complete all-in pricing. After we decided how to proceed, he left to get parts, and returned shortly and had us good to go in no time. Cold air in hours in the first triple-digit heatwave of the year? Priceless.

I called DunRite on late afternoon and was able to schedule an appointment the next morning at a window from 8am to 10am. . At 8 am the next day, Mark W. was our Tech that came out on our service call. He was extremely polite and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem. We are thoroughly impressed with the service provided by DunRite and would recommend them for your HVAC needs!

Best experience that I have ever had! I call and someone came out the same day. The customer service was great and Michael provided grade A service! I highly recommend them for your business and/or your home.

From the moment I called requesting service till the job was completed, Dunrite did an awesome job. Antonio, our service technician explained everything he was doing and showed me his findings. We discussed options and came up with a service plan that met my short and long term needs. I highly recommend this professional team for your HVAC needs!

Dun Rite took over the company I had originally had (who was local in Bertram) and my expectations were still going to be high. They did not fail and it helps that the technician who made the call to our house is the son of the owners of the former company! The company has shown it's great customer service by returning my call and voicemail in a very fast manner, scheduling my inspection the same day and showing me the problem and what to do to help prevent it in the future!

Josh, with Dun-Rite HVAC was very knowledgeable, kind and efficient. He arrived in a timely manner and listened to my maintenance concerns. He serviced my AC and advised me on various filter types. I am glad I decided to hire DUn-Rite to do my quarterly maintenance plan as I have special medical needs. I look forward to a long working relationship with DUN-RITE.

Zachary was very professional and found my problem and explained the repair with some other things that I might address in the future without being pushy. The price was good and I will recommend them.

I had a total failure of my HVAC system earlier this year. The team at Dun-Rite did a great job, replacing the unit. More recently, I had them out to calibrate the pilot light for the heating unit. Andrew was the tech who came out and after he adjusted the light 0.1 units it was perfect. I have had electrical issues previously, not related to the failure of the 20-yr old system they replaced a few months ago, and when Andrew came out and I told him about the electric problems, he suggested a surge protector that I am getting installed this week. I am a very satisfied customer.

Antonio was very polite and personable. He seemed to know what he was talking about. This service visit was free and was more like an evaluation of my system, which was installed in 2013. Of course it has issues and I am considering them. He was not pushy.

Dunrite came out and repaired our heater. This review would have been done sooner but I needed to wait till it got cold again to make sure it was working so far so good. It is nice to have heat when you need it.

Zach was very professional, worked quickly and thoroughly and explained everything to me. He worked to make sure the problem was fixed and clearly knew what he was doing and how to get there, even with an older unit. I really appreciated his work!
