I had a great experience working with Cogburn’s Heating and Air! Very knowledgeable and had excellent ideas/options on how to solve my heating and cooling options in a bedroom located above my garage. They installed a mini split that fit my budget and without question solved my issues. Installers were great and did a very professional job. They are my new go to company for heating and Air!

Our experience with Cogburn started out well. They installed new air conditioner units at a good price, helped me get a good loan, and they were prompt and polite when we called for service. Their technicians seem were polite and seemed to be good at their jobs, but it seemed that their management restrained the level of warranty repairs they were allowed to do without approval. I do not understand why that would happen, but it seemed like the technicians were restrained from "warrantying out" parts.

I had over 22 service calls for repairs between May and August. The unit normally worked around 3-5 days before it would quit working. Sometimes it worked longer, sometimes it only worked for an hour. The most common recurring issue was "communication" between the indoor and outdoor units, but there were other issues as well (drip pan full due to primary drain line being clogged, vent line fell off plenum, etc).

Cogburn insisted on a representative from the manufacturer come out twice to see if the computer card or entire unit should be replaced. Of course, both times the manufacturer's representative found no faults with the computer card or the air conditioner but instead insisted it was an issue with our home (wiring, air intake, etc.. these issues were corrected by Cogburn and the unit still did not work more than a few days).

In August, I finally gave up on Cogburn and called for Strittmatter, another HVAC company, to look at our air conditioner.

Why did I wait until over 22 service calls in a 3 month period before calling another company? I really don't know.

Unlike Cogburns, Strittmatter did not need the manufacturer to inspect the unit and agree to replace the computer card. Their technician inspected our unit and determined it was probably a bad computer card. They used the warranty to replace the computer card and had the. unit running within 48 hours (time to get the part). It ran with no issues the rest of the Summer.

I expected a better experience after purchasing two new air conditioning units.

On a positive note, Cogburn did at least agree to loan us a small window unit for the Master Bedroom after we were several weeks into the recurring issues with our air conditioning unit. Also, they were always polite and prompt to respond to our calls for service. I was never charged for any of the repairs, they did honor the warranty labor for the new unit.. they just failed to get it repaired in what I consider to be a reasonable amount of time. They would have continued trying to repair it if I had not decided to change companies (after 3 months of issues).

Byron and his team were incredibly professional and quick. We have used their services twice. They replaced our downstairs unit with a more efficient unit, and a year later our upstairs unit went out. Both times, they were quick and efficient, and they also followed-up to make sure everything was working properly. They do routine maintenances check ups and are very fast. Each member of the team is very professional and very nice. I would definitely recommend Cogburn's!

I used Cogburn's today for a spring check-up and I'm glad I did. They discovered a few problems that left unchecked, would have caused major problems. Roger was the assigned technician to complete the original check-up and he was GREAT. The owner himself was involved to make sure the work was done on time and 2 other guys were here as well (sorry I didn't get their names). While I would have preferred to not spend the money on this, Cogburn's provides a fair price and EXCEPTIONAL service. Highly recommend!

My experience with Cogburn's Heating and Air started with a phone call requesting a quote to replace my HVAC home system. I called them first because they were a local company and I have often seen their vans around town.

I was pleasantly surprised by the fast response. The owner himself showed up for a thorough conversation about my problems and possible solutions. His knowledge was clear and he found the time to answer my questions and explain them to my satisfaction during the one hour he stayed in my house. He gave me the necessary information about prices and the possible systems the company offered. It was a very competitive quote.

Although our own constraints led us to another company, Cogburn's Heating and Air receive from us a high score for response time, knowledge and warranties.

The service was outstanding from start to finish! Byron was able to come over the day after we called, which was amazing as no one wants to be without AC in Texas for too long. During the initial visit, he spent 45 minutes with me going over all our options, giving thorough explanations and taking the time to answer my questions. Once we made a decision on Friday, we were able to get the new HVAC installed on Monday. The crew was incredible, kind and cleaned up so it was like they were never there. Further, Byron made sure to have a handyman come by on Tuesday to take care of a few unexpected repairs. When they say “no surprises pricing,” they really mean it. We are so lucky to live in a town where local businesses are the lifeblood of our community, and business like Cogburn’s make it clear to see why.

Cogburn's really saved the day. I had made 4 previous calls around Denton to see if someone could get out quickly and Cogburn's was the only one who could get out within the next hour. My tech was Rick and he was very nice, super helpful, and let me know that if I ever needed to just call up there and ask for help with my AC if it were something I could do myself, they would help walk me thought it. Definitely going with Cogburn's if I should run into another issue.

They were ripping us off replacing the new ac capacitor. They charged us a new capacitor for $438. I took a picture of capacitor and looked up online and it’s only $65.99.

Ricky is absolutely the best! He is responsive, communicative, trustworthy, and caring. He makes Cogburn’s a highly recommended company.

Brandon and Emanuel did an excellent job on my duct cleaning. They arrived on time, were very polite, and cleaned everything up before they left. I would recommend them if tou need that service

We are a member of Cogburn's A/C - Our A/C went out Friday around 4pm - Hubs called the ans service and the Tech got right back with us and was at our house within 1 1/2 hrs Friday night - he advised it was the A/C Coil - so they went and obtained one Sat AM and came back and installed - we are so glad we have them as our A/C experts, they are great to work with and we are back up and running!!! Cogburn’s Heating and Air are some of the most professional and kindest people I’ve met in my life. Emanuel and Brandon replaced my hvac while I was at work, with my permission, and stayed until the entire system including furnace was finished. Even the owner Byron came to my house personally when doing the estimate for a new system. If this sounds like a paid review it’s only because they did THAT great of a job. I will never call another company for these issues. I would, and will, recommend Cogburn to anyone with any issues.

Cogburn's is top notch. I met with Ricky who walked me through the issues with my old ac/heating system. He was extremely professional and patient with me. Then I met with Byron, the owner, to discuss a new system and he is a straight shooter!! No over selling just the facts and what we need.

Cogburn's has been our service provider for the last few years for all our heating & air conditioning needs. They initially handled small service fixes, and then replaced the 20+ yr. old downstairs furnace 16-17 months ago. In all of that work they showed a reliable, courteous, and professional approach to what they do. This past week, late July 2025, just as the daily high temperatures crept into the low 100s, our upstairs ac unit began to show its age of 13 yrs. Byron (the owner of Cogburn's) had to replace the capacitor, but a week later the fan motor bearings began to squeal. Rather than replace that expensive single item, and then wait for the more costly compressor to go out, we went with an entirely new unit. The cost of the recently replaced capacitor was deducted from the cost of the new unit. Byron's team of Manny and Eric worked diligently through the afternoon (103 in the shade, and 130+ in the attic) to put it in. I am entirely pleased with the result and recommend Bryon and his team to you. I will add that with the other earlier calls, another technician, Ricky, if my memory serves, was also terrific in his work.

The furnace and ac units they installed are both Amana products. The warranty of 10 yrs. on parts was a strong selling point. In the 16-17 months since the Amana furnace was installed there has not been any issue with it. It is early in the life of the ac unit but with appropriate maintenance I expect this unit to give good service too for a lengthy period of time. In addition to the outdoor unit and indoor evaporator coil they also replaced the external junction box, and included a surge protector. That last bit seems very thorough to me.

Interestingly, Cogburn's is the first company we have ever used to mention and emphasize the importance of regularly washing the outdoor unit with a hose to maintain efficiency. (Do not use the jet setting on your handheld nozzle, or a power washer. That could damage the condenser fins)

Without reservation, I recommend you call Cogburn's for your heating and AC needs.
