Purchased a new tool pouch, I needed one (emergency) cause mine got stolen but it didn’t work out for me because it wouldn’t hold any of my tools but I thought I’d give it a chance, needless to say it didn’t work out for me, when I went to return it, without using it and less than 24hrs later counter guy says he can’t return it because he wouldn’t be able to resell it because all the labeling (or cardboard identification as he put it) was missing, nevermind he helped remove all the packaging on it, there is neither sign nor print on the invoice that states this at the counter or on invoice. As I’m walking out he says “ if you would like I can try and resell it for you “ Completely doesn’t make sense at all, thought he was unable to sell it completely, don’t buy tools from these guys they suck especially that counter guy!

I called to have an electrician go out to replace an electrical box, the representative that answers the calls asked for my name, address and said she would have someone go out on a Thursday. I called Thursday morning to make sure I was still scheduled due to the high winds they weren’t going to send anyone out which is understandable, she said she would call me to reschedule which she never did, I ended up looking for another electrician.

This company gave me a very reasonable price for all the work needed. Secretary was amazing, cheerful & knowledgeable. Scheduling was set up @ a reasobable time. Electrician inspected every need thoroughly.
Looking forward to having a safe home in ordinance with city.😇🤗

My experience was positive. The electricians were professional and their procing for the work was reasonable. I would hire them again.

Don't bother , they are Unreliable! I had scheduled an appointment with the secretary for someone to come out to provide a quote. They were a no show. When I called to ask where they were, they told me that the secretary was out sick. I guess their business can't function without her. They also said they would call me back in 10 minutes....they never called back.

The people at Villareal & Sons are knowledgeable, marvelously kind and excellent workers. My home had lost electricity and so I searched for electricians online and found them. They came over soon after I called them. They fixed the issue and provided a lot of additional information while being extremely professional and personable the whole time. Hector, Kyle and Zeke are tremendous. Also, the prices are excellent and they don't over-price. I logged on here specifically to recommend Villareal & Sons. I will be calling them back regularly!

    Ask questions

This company has done work on my house, in the past. The work was reasonably good, although I started having the same problems again, less than a year after they came out to work.
Here’s where you need to ask questions. If you read through the Google reviews for this company you’ll see one detailing travel charges. This review is three years old, so I wondered if that information is still correct. It is. They now charge $93 hourly. When I asked if they charge for the time they spend driving to the work site, they gave me a roundabout, non answer. When I pressed again they said that they do begin charging their hourly rate as soon as they are in their van and on their way. Be careful. At $93 hourly, that’s an expensive trip to your house!

Ask questions before choosing Villarreal & Sons! We had had great experiences the three previous times we used Villarreal & Sons (in 2012, 2013 and 2017). Something has changed recently. I was willing to overlook the fact that they didn't arrive at the time they were scheduled to come to my home. (I called the office and rescheduled for another day.) I was even willing to pay $75 for the electrician to drive to Lowe's to buy an inexpensive part. (Don't they carry parts on their vans?) A recent change--and a very poor business practice in my opinion--is that they now charge $75 an hour just for driving to your home from their previous work site! When I called to set up my appointment, I asked if there was a trip charge. The girl I spoke with (not their regular manager) said, "No." She did explain that they charged $75 an hour for labor. I assumed that the time clocked would start once the electrician arrived at my home. When I questioned manager Araceli G. today about an extra hour of labor on my invoice, she explained that time traveling to my house (before any work is started) is included in the hours clocked. When I complained, Araceli did remove the extra $75 and for that I am grateful. I was pleased with the actual work done and the professionalism of the contractor. But make sure you ask every possible question you can think of before hiring Villarreal & Sons!

Mr. Gonzalo did an excellent job with the wiring on my patio/pergola. He quickly identified the issue and took the time to explain the intricacies of the job as well of the circuit.

Very happy we found him. We will use him again.

Mr. Gonzalo fixed an issue with my kitchen light that my handyman had created. He was available the same day, carefully examined, assessed the situation, and provided a solution within minutes. From the moment he stepped into my house, i could tell he was an experienced electrician. He was very courteous and pleasant. Definitely recommend!!! Thank you so very much Mr. Gonzalo

Need more work and need to be there for the apprentices more

Great school , apprenticeship is kind normal school but you have to work to get trained over the field

Great school! The new building is amazing. Highly recommend enrolling in the IEC of El Paso. Ms. Navarro runs a great program.

I highly DO NOT recommend this program. As an apprentice, everyone starts off with 0 hours working supervised under a certified electrician. The problem with this program is not only do you have to be hired by one of the “sponsors” (aka contractors), but you’re very likely not going to get hired by ANY of them even if you apply to every single contractor on the list they give you, which isn’t much…. You won’t get hired. Not only that, but all the contractors require apprentice to have experience with pretty much every tool on planet earth. For Example: AMPTX is on the list the schools provides for contractors, if you dig deep enough you’ll see they require 2 years of apprentice experience… the crazy part about that is almost every other contractor has the same standard, so how can anyone new to the field get hired!!!! You need to have construction experience too. Completely outrages how 98% of contractors clearly don’t want to teach any apprentice how to use tools… in other words they expect you to know everything already. The contractors do not directly say you need experience of any kind but they make it damn obvious how lazy and unwilling they are to teach you!

My recommendation is to work under a certified electrician once you get your apprentice license and start getting your hours. Once you complete the hours required under Texas law, study a bit and take the test. This program is a waste of time and doesn’t benefit any hard working people willing to learn a new skill and trade… you’re better off doing it on your own.

This IEC program is a great way to learn the electrician trade. The program will help you learn the theory, codes, and how to solve issues with troubleshooting. As for the use of tools, jobsite knowledge, safety requirements, and skills. The program is in a classroom, not the jobsite. You will have to dig in, learn fast, work hard, and find a job with one of the associated contractors. It is not the responsibility of the IEC to keep you employed. As an instructor for this program for 10 years. I emphasize to every new student. Learn the hand tools, learn to bend pipe, learn to pull wire, understand how to look at an electrical plan, learn from asking, learn from watching. This includes watching a little Youtube, but remember not everything online is correct. As you learn the trade while you are learning in the classroom it will over time make you a much better electrician. Those who do not go through the school avg 6-10 years of work before 12% will pass a journeyman license exam and only after 12-16 years will even get close as .05% pass a Master Electrician exam. That is 1 in 2000 attempts. With the IEC apprenticeship school and graduating in 4 years. A staggering 99% pass the Journeyman exam and 4 years after that 40% pass the Master Electrician exam first try. This to me is worth every penny to spend and attend this school. Time is money. Your life is valuable to learn and move up the ladder, making more money for your family. Would you rather be an apprentice and make $12 hrly and not get a raise for the next 10 years, if you even pass the exam or would you start a little lower at $9 hrly with a 5% raise every 6 months, go to school, and get a journeyman license in 4 years to make $20+ hourly and more with experience. Knowledgeable journeyman can make $27 hrly and a master electrician with experience can make over $35 hrly. Its a hard road to start from scratch and build a career, but you should consider it. I started from scratch and went through this program decades ago. I am a licensed Master Electrician and Electrical System Subject Matter Expert for Healthcare construction.
