I hired ACV Tech to replace a metal box that covers the AC duct on the flat roof of my house. The metal box was covering the AC duct that takes air to my TV family room. I had to replace my old roof and the roofers told me that the AC box also needed to be removed to finish the flat roof and replaced. So, I’m not an AC professional and all I knew was that the metal box (aka Dog house) needed to be removed and replaced. Well, ACV Tech did that and just that. The main HVAC guy, Darnell Blackwood, showed me pics of the old box removed and the damaged insulation around the ductwork, he asked if I wanted replaced and I asked him if it wasn’t replaced was there going the be water leaks? He said no, he said he made sure to tighten the ductwork and I wouldn’t have any leak problems. So, I said ok I guess don’t need to replace the insulation. Now, I had no idea about condensation and sweat of ductwork and the need for new insulation. So, ACV Tech didn’t explain the issues I could have if the insulation wasn’t replaced. Now, for the last two months my ceiling leaks when it rains and it’s not the roof. After a lot of research of me trying to understand what’s going on and why the AC vent is dripping water, I find out most likely is condensation from the ductwork, because it is not insulated properly. ACV Tech didn’t do a professional job as it should have been done. If the tech had explained the consequences of not replacing the insulation, I would have said yes of course. But, I m not the AC professional and now I’m having so many issues and cost to try to fix this and ACV Tech didn’t call me back at all so I could talk to the AC technician Darnell, that did the work to ask him more questions. This has been causing me so much stress I can’t even imagine why a company would let this happen to a customer. I trusted their word and didn’t know any better. ACV Tech isn’t a reliable, trustworthy company to use. I don’t recommend them to anyone. It’s very unfortunate bc I trusted Darnell’s words and it wasn’t true. I have leaks in my roof and it’s because ACV Tech didn’t do their due diligence as a professional business to make sure the work was done 100% right and they didn’t care for the customer. I left messages asking to have Darnell call me, he didn’t return any calls.

I have known and experienced ACV techs for at least 8 years. They have installed and serviced two of my large apartment homes and now our current 2 floor 4000 sq ft home. . I have found them efficient, cost effective and very responsive and thorough. I would certainly recommend them highly.

Technicians arrived on time and quickly got to work. Very polite and professional. Very thorough and carefully protected anything around the fireplace with mats and dropcloths. Sealed the fireplace with plastic before starting to clean. No dust entered the room that I could see. Finished the job and discussed all issues with me. I was president of my Miami Beach condo association for 3 years so I know quite a bit about HVAC but, when my air conditioner started blowing warm air intermittently, I could not find the cause. So I contacted ACV Techs at the recommendation of a friend and fellow Board member. I cannot stress how gracious, concerned and professional they were. From the start of the call, I felt that they were genuinely interested in me, which is so rare now-a-days. Deanne asked me some questions to see if the problem could be solved without a need for a technician. It could not, so she sent a very nice technician who promptly fixed the problem. The cost was quite reasonable and, I received a call letting me know that the work was guaranteed and the completion of the work was followed by a call to remind me that the work was fully guaranteed. I am hugely impressed and recommend ACV Techs enthusiastically.

I have used ACV Techs over the past several years for all my air conditioning needs. Last week, I had ACV Techs replace the unit in my attic and I couldn’t be happier with the results! They were punctual, professional, friendly, and courteous. I highly recommend ACV Techs to everyone for all their air conditioning needs!

I commend ACV Tech for their meticulous and clean work! My room was always hot although the rest of the house was always cold and we were told that we had to get our entire air duct replaced and that wouldn’t guarantee to make my room cooler. Well, Darnell came and inspected everything and recommended a less complicated approach. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. They came today and I thought it would be messy and look bad but I was proven wrong. It seemed as if no one has done work of how clean everything was and it was done at perfection. Thanks to ACV Tech, my room is now COLD within hours. I will refer them to anybody I know!

UPDATE because Juan continues to go above and beyond in his commitment to providing the best service (this time, gratis). MONTHS after he installed our duct and attic insulation, today I gave him a call to inquire about clearing out our clogged HVAC drain pipe. He could have charged to come out and clear it for us instead, he patiently and expertly walked me through and gave me immeasurably valuable advice about how to do it myself rather than hire someone (even him!) to do it for us. This has happened to us a few times since living here and now I feel so much more confident about doing it myself going forward. Juan is the type of contractor you don't come across often and wish they all had the same integrity and customer service ethic.

bottom line: HIRE HIM. You won't be disappointed.

Wow. Juan is one of the most impressive, professional, and hard working individuals who has ever come to work on our home.

It all started a few months ago during a routine HVAC service visit. I asked the technician from our usual HVAC company Elite Clean and Restoration to give me options for creating efficient air flows to the front of the house where it's a lot warmer than in the back of the house. Since our HVAC is only two years old it seemed strange that some rooms are still so warm and others so cool. The tech went in the attic, said they could replace some duct boxes with wye duct fittings which would redirect air more efficiently and simply blow in more insulation so we'd have roughly 16" (we had around 9" left).

I called other companies just to gather quotes for the same work and Juan was the only person who didn't just give me the quote I asked for. He came to the house, climbed up into the attic, assessed the issue more carefully, and told us flat out he would not do the work because it would be a huge waste of our money if we didn't address underlying problems first (problems that the Elite Clean technician failed to even mention).

His solution was the same as Elite Clean's - replace duct boxes with wye fittings, however, he said it would be a huge waste of money to blow in new insulation without first cleaning up the attic which showed strong evidence of a large animal nesting up there. We actually thought this was resolved previously, and had hired Sweeps and Ladders back in 2021 to seal all of the gaps in our roof, but apparently, the gaps were back and they did a shoddy job on the shingles/flashing anyway. Didn't paint, used mismatching shingles, etc. The exterminator suspected the large animal was "long gone" but to avoid an animal to continue to be attracted to the scent of the droppings, we knew we had to get it all cleaned up. Yuck.

Just from this first experience with Juan that day, I knew we were dealing with someone who legitimately wants to do right by his customers and believes in doing the job right, not just getting the job done and collecting a check.

Throughout the whole project, Juan was extremely communicative and spent extra time helping us navigate an unexpected HVAC issue and did not charge us a dime extra. He even took care to keep us updated on the project schedule when he was dealing with a very personal issue - I would not have expected to hear from him at all during this time and he still communicated extremely well - better than most contractors by far!

We now have 16" of insulation, sealed gaps (contracted out to JPR Construction who Juan recommended and so do we! Very thorough, very professional!), and new wye duct fittings. Come at us, Texas heat. We're ready for ya!

We use Juan as a subcontractor for our customers whenever they express concern or ask us if we know anyone in the A/C business.
He is our go to guy. We haven't received any complaints, we only get good feedback. He is professional and honest about his work.

Juan was awesome! He was able to come into our business, immediately diagnose the issue, and get to work. His knowledge in the HVAC industry is top notch, and his responsiveness was incredible. I highly recommend Juan or his team to knock out any HVAC issues for any job size.
