My home warranty company, American Home Shield, assigned ACS Absolute Comfort Heating and Cooling to work on my A/C unit. Mike, the technician, came out to look at the unit. He spent 2 minutes, then called me to let me know that the condenser coil was broken, and that the A/C was only cooling at 50% because of this issue. He told me that I'd need a new unit, and could finance one through his company for $11k, which is far more than anyone else has quoted. He also offered this quote before contacting my warranty company to see if they'd cover it. He left, then turned in a report to AHS stating "No mechanical problem" without doing anything to resolve the problem.
I was desperate, so I got referrals for other local technicians from people in my neighborhood. I had two come out. Both companies told me that the unit needed to be replaced, and that the coil's damage was due to its age and NORMAL wear and tear. One even wrote up an invoice/diagnosis stating that the unit was in good condition considering its age.
On AHS's site, I let them know that ACS Absolute Comfort Heating and Cooling didn't fix the unit, so they put in a ticket for them to come back out. The vendor sent out the same technician, Mike. He walked to the unit and looked at it, then told me to turn my a/c on. IT WAS ALREADY "ON," but NOT WORKING. I mentioned to him what the other technicians said. It's only then that he decided to actually open the unit, instead of standing there staring at it, and looked inside. He used his tester and confirmed that the compressor was shot and said it didn't make sense to replace it because of the damaged coil. He told me that the unit needed to get replaced, but kept repeating that the unit was probably damaged due to pressure washing (which is something that I've never had done to or near my house) or heavy rainfall. He said that means that it wasn't normal wear and tear, so when he submitted his ticket he mentioned "not normal wear and tear," and included that the unit needed to get replaced. Because he said it damaged because of wear and tear that wasn't normal, the warranty company denied my service. They work together to get consumers' money and to deny their service. I guess they figure if they deny the service that the customer will pay to get a unit through them.
I have text messages and videos of Mike telling met that the condenser and compressor needed to get replaced and him blaming the weather for what happened to my unit, yet he still wants to report it to the warranty company the way he did so I won't get my new unit.
Stay away from this horrible company if you're working with a warranty company. They will screw you over and ask you to work directly with their company for services they perform. -
My home warranty company (American Home Shield) assigned Absolute Comfort to come and "repair" our home A/C system as it was not cooling our home for a service call fee of $125. Mike, the technician that came to "repair" our A/C system sent a report to our home warranty company stating the following and this is copied and pasted from "Mikes" notes that were sent to our home warranty co.
*(Non-Covered Costs)
-Replace Evaporator Coil
Reason Not Covered
-Pre-Existing Condition
Notes from Contractor, Mike
"found 4 ton horizontal box coil leaking freon. preexisting and detectable leaking." $3135.00
Total estimated non-covered costs: $3135.00
So after this email we received from American Home Shield my wife googled what an average "Coil Repair" should cost. This what she found. ( The cost to replace an evaporator coil fluctuates between $600 to $2,000, depending on the unit and brand of the evaporator coil.) Furthermore , it was not noted in "Mikes" notes to our home warranty company if he performed a leak test or not (which is standard protocol) so there is no proof in writing to our warranty company that the proper evaluation was completed. Nope , it just stated we need a new coil and it is pre-existing and it will cost the home owner (me) $3,135 to repair. Interesting side note to be mentioned: we purchased our home two years ago last month. We were required to have a home warranty for one full year after the purchase. Not one A/C claim was filed in that 12 month period, No "pre-existing issues" to speak of!!
There are plenty of honest A/C companies in Houston but this one , from our experience, is not one. -
The technician was timely and very efficient. He fixed my issue and gave great information on my unit. I am very thankful that he was so attentive. Houston summers are unbearable without working AC. Thanks ACS!

This company came out on Thursday, June 15th through AHS. Our home was 80+ degrees. Andy stated that there were issues with compressor and evaporated coil need to be replaced. I asked him if he could provide me with an estimate and he said that he had to wait for AHS. Mind you, it's literally 100 degrees outside and I have kids. There was no urgency at all. By the next Tuesday I still hadn't heard from them. I called them twice and again, no urgency for an estimate. I already paid $125, so it didn't make sense to go to another company. I called on Tuesday and again, there was no urgency. The lady said she would have someone call me. Never did. We scheduled a follow-up, since AHS still wasn't showing anything in the system. They were supposed to come Thursday, June 22nd, but ended up cancelling the appointment without noticen and decided to finally send the invoice, which was outrageous. So we have wasted a week of our time in 100+ degree weather dealing with this terrible company. Definitely would not recommend.

In August 2022, my AC stopped cooling. My home warranty company sent ACS Absolute Comfort Heating and Cooling to my residence to diagnose the issue. I was told by the technician (Danny) that the capacitor burned out and that he would replace it. Danny replaced my old capacitor with-what I thought was-a new capacitor. The AC seemed to be working until now-October 2022, just 2 months after the capacitor was "replaced". At this point, I did not trust the work ACS did, so my home warranty company sent another contractor out instead. The new technician informed me that capacitor that was supposedly replaced back in August had burned out. He also stated that the capacitor was old and used. And the worst of it: my home warranty stated that I've passed my 30-day deadline and would have to pay AGAIN for the same services.
As a senior and a paying customer, I do not appreciate lazy, incomplete work. This company is unprofessional and did not perform quality work. I feel taken advantage of, and I'm not happy with the service I received. I will not be using this company again, and I have informed my home warranty company of this situation. -
I have lived in the Houston area for almost 10 years, and Mike Phan at ACS Absolute Comfort is one of only a few contractors who I trust completely to figure out what my problem is, tell me what it will take to fix it, and then do the repair at a fair price and on time. Mike has been servicing my HVAC system at 2 different homes I have lived in for the past 3 years. Just today he came to my home and fixed a problem I had with a clogged AC drain pipe that I had tried to fix on my own without any luck. He quickly took care of the problem and showed me what he did, so if the pipe clogs again in the future I will know how to fix it myself. He also told me how to keep the pipe clean so it's less likely to clog. If you have any problems with your heating or cooling, just call ACS Absolute Comfort and ask for Mike Phan. He will take good care of you.

This company’s technicians are a joke! They only provide bandaid service to get your claim money.
The last technician was rude and not personable. He left our attic seal open causing hot air to come back onto our house. He told my husband one thing (that our condenser was going out, he would request a replacement, and to cool it down with the water hose if it over heated again), but reported something completely different (that our unit was damaged—a lie!) to AHS causing them to not cover our claim.
It appears this company is out to get your money in their pocket. We will never use them again. -
AC was leaking and there was no secondary drain installed in my house. Called them and the tech said the previous tech switched the wires so the pump should be working correctly now. That night my entire attic is flooding and has caused installation and ceiling damage. Have called and left messages as well as text messages and they are not answering my calls. Paid for a service that I did not receive
*updated: had another trusted company come out where we share ACS’s findings and they said they were wrong. The unit wasn’t leveled, wires were crossed. So ACS’s reply is STILL wrong! Glad my AC is working properly now due to a TRUSTED company. I still stand by I would never recommend this company -
This had been a terrible experience with this company. They came to my house Friday. My AC blew for 4 hours and shut off. I had to call them back and they did not return until the next day. He came on Saturday and said something was wrong with the hookup and disconnected my heater saying that this would fix my AC problem. My AC blew for about another five hours and then completely shut off. I caught the technician back on the following day and he told me to call him back when his business office was open. I asked him if he sent a report to my home warranty company and he reported yes. He told me a bold-faced lie because when I spoke to the Home Warranty company they said they had not received it. Furthermore, they called the technician and he told them that he had not sent it. He is a definite liar and very untrustworthy and very bad customer service. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

This company has provided the worst HVAC service i've had yet - and given my ongoing HVAC issues, I've experienced ALOT.
+ they have terrible communication and poor response times - I was assigned to this company on a Mon and wasnt able to get an appointment scheduled until Wed for them to come out Thurs. My AC stops cooling intermittently and I've had temps inside reach 89+ degrees so slow response time from this company is actually pretty significant. They have an answering service that takes your info and advises that someone will follow up.l reached back out Thurs about the diagnosis from the tech who came out and til today (Sat) have had no follow up
+ they provide terrible service - the tech (Kenny I believe) spent about 15 mins looking at my system (I've had techs out who spent 2hrs+ looking into everything) and came up with a totally bogus issue. He said my compressor is bad. When i questioned this, he told me I could get a second opinion but there was nothing else he could say. He then told AHS that the damage he noted was due to not usual wear and tear meaning that they would not cover the repair. I sent the picture of the damage he noted to two different HVAC technicians who were like 1) thats not extensive damage 2) it wouldnt cause the compressor to overheat and stop working and 3) that it looked like pretty common wear and tear. Further, having looked at my system themselves, they said theres no way the compressor could be bad given the pressure levels they noted and the fact that fluid was still moving through it.
TLDR - this company is a joke, Kenny the technician sucks -
I will always use ACS for my AC work. Their technician David is just amazing. He totally understands the systems, works really hard to balance the system, and do everything to give the customer a top notch system. These guys Rock!

Very upset with this company. I bought my first house a month ago. I have an inspection report where the AC was performing perfectly. Then, it went out. My home warranty company contracted out this company to come diagnose the problem. The technician, Andy, said I had a leak in the condenser coil and it needed replaced. He quoted me $4,500. No problem, I thought as this should be covered by my warranty. The next day upon checking with my warranty company they say the report ACS submitted shows this is a pre-existing condition, and therefore is not covered.
I have the inspection from just a month and a half prior showing a perfectly functioning AC. How is this pre-existing and how can ACS assume that? I called ACS and asked them to send me a copy of the report that was submitted to my home warranty company. They were unable to provide me with that information.
I requested a second opinion through my home warranty company. The other AC company came out and the technician could not find ANY leak whatsoever. He literally was working on it for 2.5 hours trying to find the supposed leak that ACS reported. The problem he identified was the capacitor needed to be replaced. The capacitor was replaced and now my AC is working perfectly. Did the leak patch itself up? Lol.
This company incorrectly diagnosed the problem and then tried to overcharge me on repairs. I suspect it is because I am a young woman and perhaps thought I didn't know any better. I am extremely unhappy and would not recommend this company to anyone! I can’t believe I had to pay a service fee for terrible and faulty service.
ACS replied to my review and stated that just because it isn't covered with my policy doesn't mean they give incorrect diagnoses. However, that is exactly what happened. I understand that not everything is covered. But the problem I had was completely missed and made out to be something else and that is why I am leaving a review. -
My technician was Andy and he was awesome. I was skeptical about using my warranty because of previous reviews. I’ve even had similar experiences my self with another company but I was desperate and it paid off.
Andy was patient with his trouble shooting and got my heater working properly. Will use the company again for sure. -
Our furnance went out during this current freeze, great service from beginning to completion. Great price, company went over and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Highly recommend for you ac/heater needs
-
So I've seen all the bad reviews and attempted to have someone else come do the work, but it was several hundred dollars over my deductible from AHS insurance, so I went on and stuck with ACS.
Andy, my tech, replaced a part and had my AC working within 10 minutes. I guess I lucked out. Quick and easy fix, and he had the parts already.
I'll update if anything goes wrong. -
Do not use this company—they are untrustworthy. They tried to overcharge me and flat-out lied to my face. I got two other opinions, both of which were completely different from the diagnosis the first person gave me here, and they matched each other. Those companies were also willing to do the work honestly, while this company is a complete rip-off.
I will be taking my business elsewhere and will definitely not recommend this company to any friends, family, or neighbors. Communication with this company is absolutely horrible as well. Good luck getting anyone on the phone after they come to your house—fair warning. Do not use this company. If you had a good experience, they probably duped you. -
ACS Absolute Comfort has consistently provided outstanding service for over 10 years to include excellent customer service, quality products, punctuality, professional knowledgeable, great value, fairness, integrity, and trustworthiness. Mike and David are very knowledgeable and patient. I will definitely continue to use ACS for ALL my AC/ heating needs and highly recommend this company. ACS has restored my faith that professional AC/ heating companies still exist. Thanks for all you do! I refer all my friends to ACS Absolute Comfort with confidence.

I had a 5-ton and 3-ton AC system installed 2 weeks ago. I can't thank Michael and David enough for their professionalism, pricing, and utmost customer care. I highly recommend them for your next project.

This company has been contracted through my warranty company American Home Shield for my broken AC. Temps inside my house have reached 97 degrees I have a young medically dependent child in the home and this company has no sense of urgency. Took a while for American Home Shield to get in contact with these ACS for approval of my service. Once approved thru the warranty I was told ACS would contact me to schedule the repair. No one did. I sent a text message which shows it was read by Ismary, but no one responded. I called and spoke with the receptionist who took all my information and said someone would call back. No one did. I call the next day and left my information again no one returned my call for 3 days. In the middle of a heat advisory temps outside being 110 degrees! I finally called American Home Shield to request another contractor although it would cost me another $125 and finally American Home Shield was able to teach ACS and now they have to order parts and wait for them to come in. I’ve been without air conditioning nearly two weeks. Still no resolution as of yet.

SCAM alert. The technician reported to my home warranty that my condenser was bent through "not normal wear and tear" and needed replacement when the unit sat completely untouched looking brand new and not bent at all. He also reported that my compressor was shot.
Another technician from a different, non-scam business came and confirmed that not only is my condenser perfectly fine, the compressor is also working and the problem is a coolant leak, which ACS had failed to report. The leak is obvious as you can sea the cooling liquid on the ground below the location of the leak.
The ACS technician also left the unit running full blast which the other better technician said, because of the leak, was at risk of *actually* causing damage to my compressor.
In short, never ever do any business with ACS. If your home warranty send them to you, demand another one.
edit: This is not between me and my warranty. The technician from ACS made a WRONG diagnostic.
