Petri Pools delivered the pool remodel my husband and I were looking for. Mike and Jeff along with all the crews involved in the project exceeded our expectations. Starting with the estimate process, Mike was very helpful and easy to work with answering all the questions we had regarding the cost and selection of materials. Once the project was scheduled to start, Jeff was very patient working with us on every step of the remodeling process and addressed each of our concerns and questions. Jeff was always up to date on the progress and came to check the work at least twice per week. The crews were also excellent to work with. Our remodel involved demolition of the old deck area, replaced by travertine pavers, new pool coping and tile, and replastered with Pebble Tec finish. I had shown Mike a picture of exactly how we wanted our pool to look and Petri delivered just what we had envisioned. Like on any other project involving many pieces, there were a couple of snags that were quickly addressed by Jeff leaving you peace of mind the issue will be fixed. Because of the pandemic, my husband and I were always home available, checking with the crews to make sure things were progressing correctly. We also contracted their pool service for maintenance, and so far, there have not been any issues with the pool, and have enjoyed very much it this summer. Petri pools just completed our renovation, Mike Rakes was great to work with!! We chose Petri because of the great reviews and were not disappointed one bit. After hearing horror stories about pool renovations I quickly realized I needed a reputable company to handle the job. They were awesome from start to finish!! If your considering a renovation, don’t hesitate to choose petri pools.

We chose Petri Pools over 3 other remodelers based on the honesty and integrity of Justin Petri. He provided a detailed estimate based on our choices for the remodel down to the valves. The masonry work for the coping and spa is artistic, the water feature surpassed our expectations. The project manager, Brenen, oversaw the various crews required to do the complete renovation, ensuring the timely completion of each aspect, making for a very satisfied customer. I would highly recommend Petri Pools for any pool owner wishing to update their pool with quality craftsmanship.

We had our pool remodeled almost three years ago. To this day we are very proud of the way our pool looks!

Justin was very competent and easy to work with. He strived to work within our budget, and as we had a difficult issues with our water feature. Justin came up with a good solution without having a change order that could have cost us thousands more (to redo the plumbing).

Another area where Justin shined was actually where we were dissatisfied and disappointed with some of the work (the water feature). The bottom line is that in construction of any time, it is not unusual for something to go wrong. Justin pushed through and got the problem resolved to our satisfaction.

Three years in and pool looks great!

December 2020 Update: Ricky and his team from Petri responded quickly and professionally to my request to replace the pool pump and filter. They did a great job. Also, I can report that our pool continues to look great after the remodel detailed below. You can use this company with confidence.

Original Review: I selected Petri Pools from 4 bids to remodel our pool after spending hours researching and interviewing companies. They were neither the cheapest nor the most expensive of the bids. Both Petri Pools and Mike Rakes did a great job! The work to our pool included re-plaster, new coping, upgrade to pool equipment and replacement of some broken equipment. Mike was very communicative and readily available. He kept me informed of the work itinerary for each day and responded quickly to my questions. Our pool had a couple of quirky designs that needed extra attention during the re-model. Mike came out with the masonry guys to make sure it was done to my satisfaction. I would absolutely recommend them.

We had previously used Petri Pools to replace our old DE Filter (which they rocked that job). Now, we used them for a full resurface and remodel of our pool. We had Petri do a full resurface as well as replace all tile and coping. From the beginning, Petri was super awesome to work with. I cannot count how many times we changed our minds on the surface finish, not to mention the tile choices. Each time, Petri was patient with us and was there with us the entire time. Once the work was schedule, their project manager, Brennan, was always there informing us of the process as they went. When any issue arose, he was quick to get an answer. We did have an issue with the tile we had chose was no longer in stock. No worries, Brennan, went to the tile store and quickly had alternate samples for us to look at and settle on. Throughout the process, we have multiple design concerns come up and Brennan and Petri took the time to talk with us so we all got on the same page and were comfortable before proceeding. We even had a jump rock put in, which was something we did not go in wanting. In the end, I highly recommend Petri Pools for any repair work and especially for pool remodeling. I will be giving their name to all my friends with pools who need this type of work. Remember, try to get Brennan as your PE and you will not be disappointed.

We received estimates from four different pool remodeling businesses. All were competitively priced and had A+ ratings with the Dallas BBB. We ultimately chose Petri Pools based on their abundance of already existing positive reviews. They almost sounded too good to be true.

Our remodel project entailed cutting out the original cantilever deck edge replacing it with flagstone, replacing our waterline tile, and resurfacing the pools interior.

Pool remodel wrapped up in January 2025 with Petri Pools. We are extremely happy with the remodel and the entire process. Working with Mike on the remodel concept and pricing and with Brennan project managing. I contacted three contractors with two providing quotes. The quotes were a few $$ within each other so I knew that I was getting good pricing. I went with Petri because Mike offered cost saving options, without me asking and allowed me to make the decision with how I wanted to go. Brennan was very communicative with schedule and was there to answer any questions I had and help solve small issues I had with our pool. Being in construction myself, I loved watching the whole process. Great job Petri! We are already in the hot tub! I would highly recommend.

I’d I could give it zero stars I would. We are three weeks in on our pool service. We can not seem to get Gold Medal to remove the sand from construction that is in the bottom of the pool. Regardless of numerous requests. Now our pool is green. Algae growing on the fountain wall. See the pictures for the sand, pool color, and algae! They say they come weekly!! Really!!!

Don’t waste your time with this group. It has been headache after headache during the construction process (that review to come soon!) and now the continued theme of headaches with the service side.

Of course we have called the office…but they are busy….and the hold times are very very long. Typical of poor quality groups…..that’s my experience. They are busy….We had to try and get traction with the construction side…hope it works! Oh did I mention that if you ask for the owner they will tell you he won’t take your call and won’t talk to customers! This is from the receptionist! You would think of you were in the service business you would speak with your clients!

Our PM Keith was a pleasure to work with! He was friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. He also had a great response time whenever there was a need. He informed us with much detail every step of the way. We are two months into enjoying our pool and could not be happier with the outcome! Thanks Gold Medal!

Logan Barker is a rock star and we highly recommend Gold Medal!

Before starting our pool, we had heard multiple horror stories from our neighbors on their pool installs (none of which were gold medal!) so we tried to be realistic going into the project that it would be incredibly difficult and frustrating. But, Wow, did Gold Medal and Logan blow that all out of the water in the most positive way!

Out the gate, Logan was upfront and honest with us so that we had clear expectations going into the project.

Then at each step Logan had amazing communication with us, and if he said he was doing something he always followed through.

Our pool was completed with excellence in 7 weeks. Whoa!

Overall, I highly recommend Gold Medal pool installation and ask for Logan! ;)

We had a pool and outdoor kitchen designed and built by Gold Medal pools. We had an absolutely atrocious experience. It has taken me some time to write this review due to the extreme frustration that I had with this company but it is necessary to inform everyone. It took us almost 2 years for the pool to be completed due to multiple errors on Gold Medal pools. To list only a few things that were wrong in the building process, please see the following. First, they installed the outdoor grill and kitchen. I proceeded to grill on this outdoor grill and the following day they placed a cover over the Pergola. Only then did we find that there was a large gas leak from the grill that filled our entire house with natural gas. Luckily, we did not explode or catch on fire when we were grilling. Second, they were contracted to build the pool and the outdoor kitchen. They proceeded to build the kitchen and the pool walls with completely different stones. These did not come even close to matching (see attached images). GMP continued to argue that they were from the same stones and the “elements of our yard” changed the stone despite that they were only 15 feet from each other. After arguing with the company for over six months, they finally admitted that the stones did not match. Once I finally have them admit this, without any apology, they eventually replaced the stone on the kitchen in the pool. Third, they installed an electric outlet less than 3 feet from the pool. The state law says that it Hass to be over 5 feet. If this was a certified electrician, they would know this. When they moved the electric box, they filled the holes in with gray caulking on our brick. Fourth, our project manager was horrific and never present. Several mistakes should’ve been noticed by him and fixed prior to us being involved. Instead, when we pointed out issues he blew us off and told my wife that she was “having a bad day and just needed a hug”. Fifth, never received any formal final walk-through, or closer to the deal. They already had our money from the start, and did not care to keep us happy, or to complete the project in a timely manner. Sixth, they destroyed our Pergola when building the kitchen and had to replace this. When they replaced this, they only placed one layer of varnish on the wood. They then argued that it could not be stained more, which was proven wrong when we made them place more stain on the Pergola. Unfortunately, they didn’t cover the grill while staining and caused unremovable damages to the grill cover and had to be replaced. Seventh, while they were installing the pool, they attempted to build a kitchen right over the only faucet in the backyard. I personally caught the gentleman building the kitchen and stopped him. He told me that this is what he was instructed to do, and that I would have to reach under the grill, around the corner, and under stones to turn the faucet on to fill the pool. This was nearly impossible to do. We then had to pay an additional fee to have the faucet moved. That should have been figured out in the planning of the pool.

I could go on and on with all the issues that we had while having this built as these were just a few. We specifically picked Gold Medal because we were told that they were more expensive but you would not have to deal with any hassles and they would do premier work.

The overall construction turned out well after two years of dealing with nightmares. One of the biggest issues that I have with the whole process was that even when I brought all of these issues up with the company, including directly emailing the owners of the company, I have never received ANY form of an apology by voice or print. Bottom line, this company has grown way too big and are using unqualified contractors. They have lost the desire to provide good customer service and quality. I have spoken to several people that had pools built at the same time, including one with the same project manager, and they also had an awful experience. Do yourself a favor and find someone else!!

Mary Sandler designed an awesome pool for us. She went through all the details and made it as large as we could in our backyard. They also were the only one’s that could execute an additional bathroom outside so the kids didn’t have to come inside to shower or go to the bathroom. The patio cover and outdoor grill was excellent also. They were professional and made us feel like family. Josh and Mary are top notch. Thanks for making our pool building experience so fun and easy.

When we purchased our home, no one from this company ever reached out to let us know that we had a free 1-month trial. Later I found out it had already started when the previous owner moved out and ended right after we moved in—so we only had about one week left to use it.

We had a small issue with our pool, and they promised a technician would come the same day or the next day at the latest. Instead, it took three days before someone finally reached out to set an appointment. On the day of the appointment, the technician called and said he would be arriving five hours earlier than scheduled, which didn’t work for us. He promised to return the next day—but never showed up.

I had to call the company again, and they sent a different technician who also never showed up. Finally, two days later, the original technician reached out and showed up late. He told us they would send pricing for pool cleaning, pool classes, etc. I followed up multiple times—three calls—but every time they had a new excuse: wrong email, system error, or some other reason.

Long story short: no communication, constant delays, broken promises, and endless excuses. If this is how they treat new customers, I can only imagine what regular service looks like. Save yourself the frustration—avoid this company.

It has been a pleasure to work with our new pool tech, Luke. He is always quick to acknowledge my dog, Tex, upon arrival and is helpful to answer any questions I might have about service. He’s friendly and does a great job taking care of our pool. Keep up the great work!
