I’ve worked with 5 Star HVAC on two occasions, and I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.

The first time was in November 2024. They diagnosed my unit and recommended a full evaporator coil replacement. I paid approximately $3,200 for the job. In hindsight, I wish I had gotten a second opinion. That part is on me.

Fast forward to January 2026, when my HVAC unit stopped working again. I called 5 Star and they were responsive and arrived promptly. The technician, Rick, entered my home at 12:34 pm and left at 12:51 pm. Based on my camera timestamps, he was onsite for about 17 minutes total, including initial setup. His diagnosis was that the heat strip needed to be completely replaced.

The following day, I received a quote for $1,237.55.

At that point, my instincts kicked in. Even assuming Rick is the Michael Jordan of HVAC repair, it was hard to understand how such a major conclusion could be reached after such a brief inspection. HVAC systems are complex, with many components and variables, and it seemed reasonable that a more thorough diagnostic process would take additional time.

I decided to get a second opinion and contacted another HVAC company that came highly recommended. They spent roughly 45 minutes performing detailed testing. How do I know? Because I was present in the attic with them the entire time, watching the process and asking questions. Their conclusion was that the issue was a faulty contactor. The repair, including parts, cost less than a quarter of what I was quoted by 5 Star.

I recognize that 5 Star has many positive reviews, and that may reflect other customers’ experiences. This review is simply an honest account of mine. I encourage others to trust their judgment, ask questions, and consider getting second opinions when faced with major repair recommendations.

I called them as a second option because the first company I called was 3 hours late. I let them know I had a baby at home and the house was warming up fast since our a/c was not working. Jack was sent out right away. He was fast and straight forward with what he did and did not charge us labor as he didn’t find anything wrong. It just started working as he was doing his diagnostics. That’s how you know they don’t try to upcharge you. Will make sure they are my first option next time something goes wrong with our a/c!

If all the people I deal with in life were like those at Arthur Heat and Air, I would have no stress in my life!! I had a new heat pump installed last winter and bought the maintenance plan Arthur offers. Both Nerio and Abel are knowledgeable and efficient, and just fun. Abel was just here for the spring check up of my system and helped me understand how it works best for my home in summer. Call the office, Katy is a dear and will get you set up.

Wanted to take a quick minute to say how impressed I was with Jack. He is definitely an asset to your company. His knowledge, ability to help me understand things, and friendly demeanor was refreshing. Even if we are not able to connect at this point on current work (not decided yet), I'm definitely going to let friends know that they should try you guys out plus keep you high in my AC contact list. Niero came out same day and was able to determine the issue I had nearly right away! Although we decided to go with another company, we had a great interaction with a great service technician. I'd recommend doing business with them any day even though I didn't.

The technicians were timely and courteous. Did not leave any messes and answered all our questions. We highly recommend this company!

Arthur Heating and Air took my early Saturday morning call and within a couple of hours, they sent out service technician Abel. He was friendly, knowledgeable and a very good listener as I had many questions. He also explained everything he was doing in detail as he checked all aspects of my A/C unit.
Abel found the problem, had the parts needed to make the repair and had the unit up and running in no time. Thank you Abel for your outstanding service and kind nature.

I had a positive experience with the technician, Neiro, who was both friendly and knowledgeable. He performed maintenance on my HVAC unit with great care and arrived on time for the appointment. The quality of his work was impressive, and I would certainly recommend his services to others.

Jack is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He fixed our issue in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommend! The girl I spoke to on the phone when scheduling was very pleasant as well.

Arthur air is fantastic. Our tech came out when he said he was going to and did a wonderful job. Can’t recommend them enough. We had two units they had to check out and it all went perfect.

So last Friday, 4:00 P.M. wife calls me at work; A/C is out. It’s 20 year old unit and we been nursing it along last few years. Call the folks at Arthur’s and greeted by super friendly Katy. Tell her about my dilemma a/c out we got 90 year old mother living with us and all. Less than 1 hour later Nerio shows up proceeds to tell me what we’ve been expecting last few years anyways. Shows me the exploded compressor. Keep in mind it’s now 6:00 P.M. Friday evening, my household is nearing panic. Nerio gets busy. Next morning (Saturday) Erik and Co. show up at my house I’m at work. By the time I get home,, 5:00P.M. Erik and the crew are gone, cleaned up and my house is ice cold with new a/c running silently. Complete inside , outside, new thermostat, latest state of the art equipment finished star to stop less than 24 hours. Got nothing but great things to say about these people.

Jack was amazing!!! He diligently went through the entire system, then gave us multiple, well-thought-out options.

Nerio did a great job. He identified very quickly what the issue was with our system. I was also very happy with the price and how professional he was. Definitely calling Arthur again for our next hvac needs!
