Landscaping reviews in Tomball, Texas

All of their plants look really healthy! I was pleased with the selection. Not any people around to answer any questions about plants though, just cashiers.
-
This garden center is very clean and organized but the cashiers are very rude, don’t say a word, seem unhappy to check me out.
So sad
Update: Had yo go again the next day to buy more plants, different personal …. All very polite and nice.
Not nice of me to put a bad review for 2 rude cashiers, I really like the place, it’s so clean and organized and will go again. -
I bought plants and potting soil
The employee followed us to the car looking confused. He had been asked by staff to get the soil.
Spoke no English.
Just shook his head, left.
Did not come back.
Went to look for him and he was helping another customer. Start to get e
No English spoken or understood.
Dissatisfied. -
Steady supply of healthy commercial plants year-round

I will give this business five stars for the care and quality of the product but 3 stars for the customer service. I recommend you either go in knowing what you want or using Google to read about whatever plant you’re looking at.

Our family was picking out our Christmas tree. We decided on one at 8:55pm. They close at 9:00pm. They asked us to leave because they were about to close. They lost out on $300+ of business. Their trees looked very poor this year. Perhaps the brutal summer we had? We should have gone to Plants For All Seasons as usual. Get what you pay for. They close at 6:00pm this Christmas season so we went elsewhere for that reason. BUT! We will get an earlier start and find our perfect tree! Not at Houston Garden Center...

It's such a shame.
I have purchased many plants from multiple locations of Houston Garden Center in the past, but I'm afraid that has come to an end.
Let me explain.
They always have a big sign out front telling about their sales. This time, the sign said "70% Off ALL Trees and Shrubs." Since I needed a Camelia, I stopped in to get one. When I checked out, they would not honor the sale, saying that Camelias were not included.
I purchased it anyway, because I needed it and was tired. I thought that maybe I would speak to a manager later in the week.
Nope!
The number for the Tomball location goes to voicemail and the mailbox is full.
So ...
I called the corporate office.
I have no idea who I was talking with, because she wouldn't say. However, she did tell me that Camelias are not included in ALL Trees and Shrubs. When I asked her how a Camelia is not a shrub, she just said, "I don't know, but they're not included." I suggested that, perhaps they should say that on the sign, to which she replied, "OK."

I really like their plants, but I won't be shopping there anymore. There are too many other great places that have great customer service, and are honest. -
I have bought Poinsettias from Houston Garden Center for the past 10+ years, never an issue.
This year bought 4 (2 different days) and they won't stay in the pot. It appears they had just been re-potted with about half the dirt needed to securely keep the plant in the pot. As soon as I pull the wrapper off, the plants fell over in the pot.
For now, they are Beautiful Poinsettias but we will see if they survive.
Glad I wasn't giving as Gifts directly from store.
PS. I still have 2 from last year that are turning red. -
This is a good nursery. They had a wide variety of shade plants, outdoor plants, trees, garden plants and pots. Some of their tomato plants looked kind of sad but it’s also August haha. Excited to come back!

Love getting my plants here and my girls love looking around at the ones I won't buy. Haha
-
Bought mulch and since we're older we went there because they load it for you. The first time great. When we went back for more, no one was there to load it. There was an elderly man loading his own in front of us too

Very well stocked...able to find a yellow clivia and plant hanger 'condoms' to catch water from watering system for the plants. Very satisfied.

I went to the garden center in spring. The pot I found was for a funeral in two days. As I was checking out I said to the guy behind the register and to my husband . We'll I am going to get this one now. If I find a better one I will return this one. They both heard me plain as day. The pot was $80. Well the next day I did find a better one at Home Depot. I went to return the pot and I was told no returns no exchanges. There is no sign at this store. The employee heard me say I would bring it back if I found one to better suit the plant. I was furious. I would gladly do an exchange. I had the receipt. At the bottom of the receipt it says all sales final. I didnt look at the bottom of the receipt. I was talking to the employee. He should have said all sales final. He chose not to say anything to me. But I was told no. This is horrible. I will tell everyone I know. I will post on Facebook and every social media. Horrible business. If I could give a zero I would

I called today 3/27/25 at least 6 times, probably more. No one answered and I was unable to leave messages because their voicemails box is full. Today is a rainy day and the parking lot is empty. I would think that folks are available to answer the phones. Why wouldn’t anyone take my calls? Are they all glued to their phones as has been reported in many other reviews?
I want to replace my shrubs and I am looking for information about current stock and price. I’m going to @Costco #Costco instead. I get customer service there. Houston Garden Center you lost a good sale today. I bought 20 shrubs and it wasn’t at your Tomball store. -
Today it was extremely difficult to find any one who spoke English so we can get some customer service. I went inside to ask the cashier and she spoke enough to say outside and pointed to the right. I browsed every where out there while pregnant in this Texas heat. No lavender. I go back inside to tell her I couldn’t find it, she just simply pointed to a man. Went to him and he said they don’t sell lavender any more. I asked if there are any other herbs he said no they sold out. As I continued browsing for fruit trees I found basil, mint leaves, parsley, sage etc. So much for all sold out and no longer selling them. What kind of people are y’all hiring garden center? They’re driving your customers away! It’s already a disadvantage with no refunds or exchanges unlike Home Depot, but bad customer service too with higher prices? No thank you!

Great prices with the clearance sale. You need to know what you’re looking for and how to Google things because they can’t answer any questions. Don’t look for help because there is none.
-
I used to work with them long time ago, always buy my Christmas trees there, and reminiscent does days been in the floor with all the poinsettias and Christmas trees! 1986. Jones toad location!
-
Be sure to check for coupons they always have them in the paper, the pottery and other containers are a little overpriced but I can't find them much cheaper anywhere else
-
Very dissatisfied with purchasing a Christmas tree from here. I have had it a week and it is falling apart. If you touch a branch the needles all fall out. We have used their recommended life extender formula even. The ornaments are falling off because the needles can’t keep them on. There are branches that were totally full of needles but now are bare. When I tried to call there was no answer and the mailbox was full. Tried calling back and it went straight to voicemail.

My wife purchased a lot of items there, some of the plants were poisonous, we brought them back in 3 days and they wouldnt honor a return. They said we could leave the plants and would have to call corporate. I called Corporate and spoke with Jennifer who was incredibly rude and talked down to me. She said she works for the owner when i asked who her manager was and who i could talk to. Apparently Matt Hooper is the owner that i need to call now and i need to wait 5 more days to talk to him. all over 60 dollars, I've spent at least a couple thousand dollars there over the course of the last 15 years. They lost a long time customer. I will stick with the smaller nurseries like RWS that care about the customers and relationships. I even took a video of where i left the plants at the store as instructed by Raul who was in charge that evening.

I found they have the biggest selection of pots and for great prices! The staff is very helpful.
