Needed to get a heat pump replaced. Got a quick same-day site visit which was great. Received a quote the next day and was able to negotiate on the price. The replacement was scheduled for two days later. Three techs came - one prepped the space and then left. The two others came with the replacement heat pump and air handler. The replacement took essentially the whole day but I was kept informed all the way through and the techs did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves. It has been a week since the installation and everything seems to be working well with the new unit. I was very impressed with the high level of personalized customer service and overall professionalism of everybody I dealt with at B.L. James & Son.

We had 2 different companies come to resolve a drain issue. I’m glad that we finally found BL James and Son. They were incredibly thorough, kind, well priced and professional. More than anything they finally resolved our issue after trying with two prior companies. I could not recommend this company more.

I had a sewage backup emergency that caused flooding in my house, and I needed urgent help. I couldn’t use any drains in the home. I called BL James and Son, and within 2 hours, they had a technician, Aaron, at my door. He was professional, efficient, and extremely clean, making sure to resolve the issue quickly. He snaked the drain and cleared the blockage, preventing further damage.

The service was reasonably priced, especially for an emergency call, and the response time was impressive. Good unit, but frustrating install
I had BL James install a new Daikin heat pump. The unit itself is performing well, but the installation process left something to be desired. During install, the air handler and my closet door were slightly damaged. Knowledge of the unit was poor, with some wires being pinched in an access panel rather than routed correctly, but more concerningly, the installer was unaware that the new thermostat could control the boiler (as aux heat), leading to improper placement and an unnecessary hole in the wall. Also, the line item to run a new duct to a bathroom was ignored completely, with no reason given. Other minor issues included the drip pan not being connected to its drain line and the supply air plenum being poorly sealed to the new unit. The promised follow-up on some of these items never occurred, and overall it felt like the team was focused on just getting the job done, rather than getting it done right.

I could not be happier with the service I received from this company. I used them to replace a heat pump in a condo I own and rent. The company installed the air handler inside and began installation of the outdoor unit. There was construction going on in the courtyard and the contractors could not have access to the outdoor unit to complete the job.The company came back a few months later when the courtyard work was done to complete the installation. Pleasant workmen, cleaned up both times. Shoutout to Jose, who was very helpful. Glad to have found this local, family-owned company.

BL James did a great job! I was very pleased with their communication, fair pricing, and quality of service. The technician was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Overall, a smooth and positive experience. I would definitely recommend them.

I was given a quote to replace my current PTAC unit of nearly $3000. The unit itself was between $900 and $1000, apparently because the company has a particular deal with Amana. The warranty was approximately $250. So, maybe $1250 or a little more for the product. I questioned why labor was so expensive given that there was an existing sleeve and the unit is essentially plug and play, and they stopped responding. I ended up buying a better unit and installing it myself for $1700. As a former contractor, it bothered me most that they stopped responding once I questioned the utterly unreasonable labor cost for a plug and play product. Very disappointed.

Given next day appointment but happily got called later same day as techs were running early on finishing other jobs. Team of 2 arrived and used high power snake to clear kitchen sink clog all the way to main line. Warned me early of possible costs and that one or more pipes might need replacing. Happily, techs were able to reuse same pipes once cleared. Polite, prompt, knowledgeable, careful, clean & effective -- everything you want from a plumbing service.

Great company to work with, They gave me a good price and installed my new heat pump within 1 day. They were very efficient and cleaned up afterwards. I have used them several times over the years , and very pleased with their service. I highly recommend them.

Our gas furnace was malfunctioning putting out dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. Maurizio and Aaron diagnosed our problem. The furnace needed a new heat exchanger and the vent had been improperly installed. We decided to replace the gas furnace and aging air conditioner and reroute the vent. They gave us space heaters to keep us warm. The project was completed the next day. We are very pleased.

Our furnace stopped heating around dinner time on a Sunday evening when windchills were in the single digits. BL James sent someone out that night with space heaters, and were out first thing Monday morning to fix the system. When we had an issue with AC over the summer, they did the same but with window AC units. If they can’t resolve immediately they’ve always been able to at least keep us comfortable in the interim, which we’ve greatly appreciated as it allowed us to have minimal disruption to our day to day. They’re all always kind and professional. We love working with them!

George was amazing to work with. He provided a detailed inspection of everything we needed serviced and what was more urgent versus what could wait. He took his time to explain everything in detail. The pricing is very fair and the quality of the work is excellent. I highly recommend them for anyone in need of a good honest plumber.

I called BL James & Son to diagnosis a leaking HVAC ceiling vent in my tenant's home. The technician Mauricio came on time and he was great with my tenants. He was able to diagnose the issue and fixed it on the spot. He even took a look at the other HVAC units in the house to make sure they are working as intended. I appreciate the professionalism of this company, their skilled technicians, and top notch communication through out. I highly recommend BL James & Son for all your HVAC needs.

My electric car charger had stopped working - and the BL James tech was very knowledgeable and familiar with chargers. He was able to pinpoint the issue and fix it within 10 minutes. It wasn't something I could have done myself nor something obvious. I was very pleased with the outcome.

Mauricio did a great job helping me troubleshoot a noise in my air conditioner. He was super professional, neat and helpful. After taking it all apart he was able to solve the problem in about an hour for a reasonable price. Will definitely use BL James again!

BL James was quick to respond and schedule a two part service call,. which they were able to schedule during the same window on the same day. The two "teams" showed up and were extremely polite right out of the gate. They diagnosed the problems, attacked it and provided some additional insights- all fixed efficiently and effectively. Even better, they didn't try to upsell or push other services or items.
