The services provided by Cut Knuckle is top tier. Our second time utilizing them and we must say that they have become our first and second recommendations for tree and stump removal services. From generating the initial estimate to site clean up these guys communicated through the entire process. Cut Knuckle is also reasonably price so there isn't a reason why anyone should not give them a chance if you already haven't. You pay for what you get :-)

Taylor and his team are excellent. They talk you through the project, their prices are reasonable, and the finished product is as promised. Great work!

Following a high wind storm that took down a large limb on my property line and damaged a neighbor's fence, Taylor responded quickly and gave me an estimate to remove the debris and clean up the surrounding area.

Since he was going to be on the property, I asked him for an estimate to do additional work. We agreed and his crew arrived at the time specified and a whole lot of work in addition to the storm damage.

His crew was polite and friendly and did an excellent job completing the additional work we agreed on.

I have had Cut Knuckle work on my property a number of times in the past and have always been impressed with their performance. Last minute add-ons have been reasonable. They'll be the first to be called in the future.

Cut Knuckle did an awesome job inspecting the property and making recommendations that benefited the property owner. They removed a couple trees, pruned some very large limbs and cut/removed vines from around two very large trees. They cleaned up and hauled off the debris from the performed work just as promised and noted in the well constructed contract. Cut Knuckle did not suggest unnecessary work be done that only benefited the company which is very appreciated. Taylor is knowledgeable, professional, trustworthy and arrived on time. I trust his judgement and was very pleased with the work his company performed. Will definitely hire Cut Knuckle for any future tree work.

Cut Knuckle is a great company to use for tree removal services. They are more affordable than more widely-known companies in the Tidewater area, and just as experienced.

Taylor and his crew did an excellent job removing two, very tall pine trees in the backyard of our rental home in Norfolk. One of the trees was dead due to being struck by lightning. It was a serious hazard to our rental house, as well as the neighbors. Large branches had already fallen from the top of the tree and damaged the neighbor’s house as well as our rental house, fence and deck. We were relieved that the tree was cut down before more serious damage occurred.

Taylor is a very trustworthy business owner who can be relied on to provide you with great customer service at a very affordable price. I highly recommend Cut Knuckle Incorporated.

I recently contracted with CutKnuckle for some tree service at my home, cutting limbs on two large trees away from the house and roof. The guys at CutKnuckle were great! They were friendly and courteous and industrious, too. They wasted no time in getting the job done, and they did it with care for the trees while following my wishes. I can’t say enough good things about this company! And the price was reasonable, too!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Cut Knuckle. I tried to get in touch with several companies to have some work done on some trees and shrubs on our property. I couldn't get companies to call back - at all - after calling them multiple times. I tried Cut Knuckle and they called back when I hadn't even left a message - just to check to see if I needed something. We scheduled a time to meet to get an estimate and Taylor was flexible with my schedule needs. I had an estimate within an hour, and it was less than we were expecting. They were able to get us on their schedule within a week of accepting the estimate. The crew arrived on time and walked around to make sure they understood exactly what we wanted to have done. They were polite, professional and knowledgable. The crew lead checked with me a few times to make sure I was happy with what they had done in each area. They even mulched a branch for us that had fallen in the storm. The cleanup was impeccable - in fact my husband mentioned our driveway was cleaner than he had ever seen it. Cut Knuckle went above and beyond my high expectations with everything from business practices to tree work to clean up. I couldn't imagine ever working with another tree company. So glad we called them.

Year after year I keep having Cut Knuckle come back and do work on my property. Why? They do an excellent job! I've never had a contractor employee ask, "is there anything else you want me to do?"

In the pre-walk through, Taylor, the owner, listens carefully to what is needed and offers suggestions. When the estimate arrives, it is not just a "lump sum" number but an itemized listing of what each task will cost--giving the owner an opportunity to "pick and choose" what needs to be done with an eye to the pocketbook.

The post-work cleanup is detailed. When the last truck pulls away, there is nothing left to indicate the crew had spent a day cutting and trimming. Leaving the owner, me, highly satisfied.

Excellent tree service. Fair with pricing considering they brought out bucket trucks and other equipment to knock everything out. After everything was cut, they cleaned up nicely. Will use these folks again for future work!

Cut Knuckle did an incredible job!!! They were respectful, family friendly with my 1 year old son and 88 year old grandfather. We are all so happy with the work, the cleanup, and the total end result!

Cut Knuckle actually came a day earlier than promised, a big help to my work schedule. Crew was professional and continually checked with me to ensure their work was to my satisfaction. Started work mid- morning and were done mid afternoon, no lunch break. Trimmed trees as I had asked for plus removed dead wood. Trees looked terrific. Great job cleaning up, right down to leaf blowing the street and yard. Very safety conscious, all limbs close to house roped down. Third time I have used Taylor and his crew; another terrific job. It is a pleasure doing business with Cut Knuckle.

We had scheduled another tree company to come out (Scott Lane Tree Service) For 4 days no show and no calls. When we called them it’s a lot of back and forth bla bla reasons but promised always the next day. We called Taylor at Cut Knuckle, immediately sent a quote and scheduled for Monday @. 8:30, they were here at 8:35! They went beyond what most tree companies would do, the guys were respectful of our property and cleaned up everything!! We are talking about a two day job for our 50+ year oak tree that was dying. They grind the stump and cleaned up were you can’t tell there was a tree. I would give them a 10 if I could! Thank you so much Taylor and the guys!!!

Unprofessional and Rude – Would Not Recommend

I reached out to Cutknuckle a couple of months ago for a tree removal estimate and wanted to wait before posting this review to remain anonymous.

When I initially called, the owner answered directly—no receptionist or answering service—which isn’t necessarily an issue, but he was abrupt and asked me to text him my information instead. He later arrived for the estimate and, after a quick assessment, mentioned the removal would be fairly easy and that he had availability that same week.

However, when I told him I had one more estimate scheduled before making a decision, his attitude completely changed. He became visibly irritated, raised his voice, and accused me of wasting his time, emphasizing how valuable it was. His reaction was completely unprofessional and unnecessary.

To top it off, his quote ended up being much higher than the other estimate I received. I ultimately hired another local company that provided excellent service at a better price.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Cutknuckle. The owner’s poor attitude and lack of professionalism made the interaction unpleasant, and there are much better options available.

Expert advice from Taylor on all the trees on the property. They did tree trimming and one tree removed. Crew was very efficient and left the property better than when they found it. True professionals. Will use again.

Definitely recommend Cut Knuckle Inc.! Timely service to assist with removal of snapped tree limb in backyard from storm that occurred on 4/16/2023 in our area. Also did additional tree pruning.

This is our third time to work with Taylor and his crew, they are on time, clean up well, considerate, and very knowledgeable about pruning and tree health and appearence.

Dealing with this tree service was a real pleasure, I received a free estimate, told them I was getting another estimate and did. Cut Knuckle Inc. Was a little higher but they provided me a few extra services. Great job and cleaned up everything. Thank you Guy's.

They took their time and were very meticulous with quality and safety. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Definitely will use this company in the future.

Randomly one August night, our live oak tree decided to drop a limb (which made up a large majority of the tree and in shown in one of the photos). I called Cut Knuckle and they were able to come out in a few days to give me an estimate and talk to me about my options. Taylor arrived slightly ahead of schedule. He was very knowledgeable about the type of tree I have and about the situation. He told me that this phenomenon is called "sudden/summer limb drop" but is quite rare to see in the type of oak tree that we have. He suggested to clear out the limb and lighten up the other side of the tree to help balance it. We really wanted to save the tree and Taylor really didn't want to cut it down. We weighed a few other options of what to do but ultimately agreed that his original suggestion was the way to go. His passion for his job is the reason I felt comfortable hiring his company to do the work. As you can see in the photo showing their completed work, I have no regrets. The tree looks fantastic and I couldn't be happier! I will definitely be calling Cut Knuckle in the future for anymore maintenence I need done on my trees.

After getting what I thought was a high estimate, I emailed the owner to thank him for his time but that I was going to get more estimates and not use his services. He replied with an insult.

Update: I just happened to be looking at reviews I've left and noticed this business actually replied to my review.

I had only been in my house about 3 months when we had a hurricane. A huge limb from an old pecan tree in my backyard had snapped and was lying on my roof. I called a couple of tree removal companies, and this company agreed to come give me an estimate. I'm not sure why the owner claims they were "bending over backward" for me. All they did was send someone to my house to check out the tree. Isn't that a normal part of a business like this???

I'm a single mom with a budget, so I thought their estimate was high. The guy that came to my house was polite, but like I stated, when I communicated with the company that I wanted to get another estimate, the owner was rude.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that my name here on Google is "keep anonymous." I had someone threatening me a few years ago, so I tried to keep my name hidden. I love that this owner purposely called me out by my whole name. Not just my first name. Thanks buddy!!

And I did actually find someone cheaper and ended up having the entire tree removed.

I attached pictures of the limb so you can see it wasn't "technically an entire tree" I needed removed from my roof as the owner suggests in his response.

Completely unprofessional and hid valuable information that ultimately resulted in land mitigation due to the area my home is in. Was even informed by one of the employees that he just so happened to “forgot” to tell us this key factor about where our house was located. This key factor would have delayed the tree removal service due to required approval from the city prior to tree removal. Of course, that would have delayed or potentially stopped the job, so the company hid this information and proceeded forward with the tree removal. This has cost me several thousands of dollars more than the actual tree removal service, and time spent having my property inspected by the city. Plus the fact that dozens of new trees have to be planted by myself for mitigation. The company also cut down a tree on the property that was not contracted to be removed and left it on our property for us to deal with (about a 40-50 ft. tree), which we were ultimately punished for as well by the city for being removed. When the owner was contacted about all this information, I was met with snide comments and a very rude attitude. You would think the professional that you hire would be forthcoming and honest with important information, but this company was not. Based off my personal experience, I would never recommend this company to anyone looking to perform tree removal on their property.
