HVAC reviews in Falls Church, Virginia

I was sceptical at first, but Mr. Sykes put me right at ease with his attentiveness and knowledge of what he was selling, he was very professional and wanted to really help me. Did I say he was thorough? Well he was very thorough, we talked as if we'd known each other for a long time, at least that's how I felt, at the end I was thoroughly satisfied and didn't feel like I'd been taken advantage of and for that I thanked him and the company for sending him, he represented Cyprus co. well. Thank you again!

We purchased a gas log insert from Cyprus in November 2021 and are still awaiting the installation. Their service and scheduling team is horrible. They don't communicate. They schedule appointments and no one shows up. I highly caution anyone from patronizing them, particularly if you require an installation of a product.
UPDATE: My logs were finally completed on February 15, 2022. This was approx 2 1/2 months after purchase. Cyprus planned to discuss with me after completion how to make things right, considering all the appointments they had not shown up for or rescheduled. I have not heard from them since the project was finished. I still would not use Cyprus Air again, nor would I recommend them for anyone else. -
The experience with Cyprus has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have gone through, and I have remodeled my entire house. They were responsive and timely, until they received the final payment and then they fell off the map. They did not return my calls, did not show up for appointments, told me they would call when things were ready and never did. After I called them over 15 times, my gas fireplace is still not installed. No matter how many times I ask to speak to a manager or someone that can hear my complaints, they refuse to transfer me to anyone that can actually help. Terrible customer service. Terrible all around experience.

Cyprus Air did not honor pricing available at the time of purchase. They have missed appointments repeatedly, shown up without needed parts, and failed to coordinate with the county inspectors. Their customer service is unresponsive via email, their answering service, and when I manage to talk directly to them, they are unable or unwilling to take action to fix problems. I'll update this review if they ever finish my gas fireplace insert install.
Update: Cyprus finished the installation. The end result is satisfactory. They have offered to refund 20% based on the experience. I've updated the rating above accordingly. -
They offered an enhanced warranty (17 years on AC compressor), which was one of the selling points when I chose them to install my units some years ago.
Now that the unit has failed (within the warranted period), they won't honor the warranty and state that they "can't work on anything that is over 10 years old" because parts of the system are too old and may be incompatible with new parts. So basically this is a fake warranty.
Also learned recently about the shoddy job they did on the original installation. Rather than properly fit the duct work to the top of the furnace, they used a lot of foil tape to cover a big separation/gap. Over the years, this tape became brittle (in the attic) and blew out, so I've been unwittingly heating and cooling my attic for several years now.
They also misdiagnosed a problem with the ignitor on the gas furnace, and failed to recognize that the circuit board was part of the problem (ignitor doesn't turn off after ignition). Had they done a correct diagnosis, the replacement of the circuit board would have been covered under warranty, but instead now it is past warranty and will cost me $$$ out of pocket to replace.
I couldn't recommend this company for service or installation. -
I need a new combo HVAC/gas heat system installed. Since I've heard this company's advertisements on the radio a lot, I thought I would get a quote from them. My appointment window was from 8-9 am, so I expected the person to show up in the middle of that window and that I would be the first appointment of the day. He did not show up on time. When I called to ask why, the agent I spoke to was not able to contact him, either. She finally heard from him while we were on the phone and he had apparently been stuck in traffic. This is understandable, but all other service companies I have worked with seem to have a policy that they call either the customer or the dispatcher to let them know that they are running late due to traffic. The dispatcher I was on the phone with also did not seem to be familiar with if there was a policy they had about calling or not when they would be late. I ended up cancelling the appointment and will be seeking quotes elsewhere. If they can't show up on time for a sales call, there's no way they will be on time for service in the future. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I have been very pleased with the technicians and customer service from Cyprus. Everyone has been polite and provided explanations for any questions that I might have had. I have been without Central Air for 7 YEARS!!! Cyprus' affordable monthly installment plan created a budget friendly way for me to manage this very important, yet major expense. From the estimate to the Installation, I have received excellent service and I look forward to using Cyprus for any future heating/cooling needs that I may have.

Be careful with their subscription (and be very careful about given them a sensitive credit card). It’s a very sketchy business what they are doing.
Today I called customer service (falls church location) and spoke to a girl that seems to be determine to find any excuse to not help you. This led me to cancel my subscription (basically, she did not want to send a technician over and she did not want to erase my credit card information even tho I was requesting to do so).
Here is what will happen to you (based on my experience):
-The first winter in my new condo was in 2022. I called this company to get my fire place checked/repaired/maintained.
-first technician came on December 2022 or January 2023 (during winter). He sold me into buying the subscription. One of the main reason was because he told me “next winter, we will come and do a quick maintenance/check up to your unit so you are set” …that meant winder that started end of 2023 to early 2024.
-called customer service today and talked to this girl. I told her I have a subscription and that I would like to schedule the routine maintenance for my unit now that winter is about to start. She told me that I cannot until October of 2024!… I was very surprised that she didn’t want to send someone even tho I was requesting to… she said that I’m currently paying for their routine visit of 2024 and that I have 2 payments left and that my subscription will auto-renew on January 2024. Given that she wasn’t going to schedule someone to do a routine maintenance this year, I asked her to just go ahead and cancel my renewal. She then told me that she can’t because I have two more payments. I told her that I can do those payments but after that I don’t want to renew. She then told me that she can’t cancel my subscription until all payments have been process and that I’ll need to call January 2024 if I want to stop the auto-renewal (today is October 2023) and if I call after it has renew then I can’t stop payments until 2025! That was madness and what she was saying made no sense and it was unheard of in any business.
So, I can’t get anyone to come do maintenance to my fire place before this winter, they have my credit card and will continue to charge it unless I call January to stop auto-renewal. I finally told her “look, I’m missing two payments, go ahead and charge me for those two payments and cancel my subscription now” and she said she will send a note to accounting and they will see what they can do hahaha unbelievable, I felt like I was in a hidden funny camera show or something. So, I have to go through loops to get my credit card deleted from their system (very sketchy), and when I do that, I would have paid for two routine maintenance visits but they only are going to provide one. -
Was billed several times without actually being serviced. Company claimed to call me several times to schedule service when I told them to reach out via email. They also had the wrong phone number on file so how could they have called me many times. HQ refused to discount or remove services visits that were never performed. Office employees need be removed and gutted instead of forcing invoices. Already sent a BBB complain, avoid this company.

Stay away from these people. Not sure how they are still in business. I ordered the installation of a gas fireplace. I was told a schedule that they did not keep. The installer failed to come the first day. On a different day, another installer came and told me he would have to run the gas line in front of my house and under the sidewalk and I would have to find someone to dig under the sidewalk. This was after I was told that they could connect to the gas line that feeds the furnace. Another installer came and wanted to tear up my finished basement and then drill a hole in the wall in my den. By this time, I had enough. I did receive most of my money back, however they “stole” $300 for a fireplace cleaning. I didn’t need the cleaning since they are unable to install the gas fireplace. Terrible company, terrible customer service. Do you self a favor and find another company.
Based on your response, I have some additional feedback. If you want to improve your customer service, hire and train competent people. In addition, refund the money you took from me for a fireplace cleaning that I didn’t need. -
First off I dont appreciate getting flipped off by your rude tech
When Im in my residence driving to get out of the neighborhood, your tech is on the side, talking to a buddy in their vehicles, who are blocking the lane in order for me, or anyone behind me to get out of my own neighborhood
And he has the audacity to flip me off
Are you kidding
This happened on Rutherford circle, sterling va 20165, 350pm, 1-3-23
Absolutely unacceptable and grounds for dismissal -
I felt like I was being taken advantage of and paid $139 for the technician to just make notes, take photos, and threaten to charge me an additional $110 if he was there longer than 30 minutes. It was a sales call and not anything else.
He estimated $800 to clean my compressor coils and said he couldn't do anything for my drain line because it was a condo.
He recommended $1200 to kill algae which I don't believe I have - and even if I did - this unit is on my balcony so the cold weather will take care of it soon.
He was unable to figure out how to check the pressures because he had no idea how to hook up the valves.
He did point out that my filter was dirty. No shock to me - as I told the person I made the appointment with - as well as this technician when he arrived - that I just had some drywall repairs done and I was waiting until the service call to put a new filter in.
I lived in Florida as an adult for 50 years and have had countless service calls on my HVAC units.
I went to Home Depot when he left and bought a drain line cleaner and a can of no rinse coil cleaner for a total under $20 which seems to have covered the estimated $800 service.
Nothing but a refund of the $139 I wasted meeting with your technician will make me happy. -
Cypress air cleaned my Fire Place and replaced the glass fire place enclosure with the one in the picture. The glass screen was supposed to be new but it only lasted a month before it fell apart. I have called Cypress air numerous times in effort to resolve this issue..They said someone would contact me but no one ever calls. It’s getting Dangerous, My Pilot light in my fire place just went out.

I had the absolute worst experience with Cyprus. I called Cyprus to first review my HVAC as it wasn't working properly. The technician was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary, but where the nightmare began was when they recommended me an HVAC technician. Long story short all the HVAC technicians provided me the wrong location of my HVAC causing mass confusion, and ultimately misguiding the technicians that did complete my job. Then all they did was provide me with more problems for my already horrible problem of a broken HVAC. Example they said I would need to rent a crane for an HVAC that wasn't more then 4 feet of the ground. They said I would need to get the crane. How does one find a crane? Again one of a thousand problems. I could go one, but I wouldn't recommend this service.

INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING! The installation process failed inspection 5 times with the county. The techs who did the installation did not even assemble things as they were shown in the instruction sheet they gave me. I called today (after 7 months) to see if we ever passed inspection with the county. Technically, we did. But only now, after 7 months, have they submitted the final paperwork to the county. And only because I called to check on it. When I purchased the system, they talked me into a “discount” if I signed up for a service contract. It was not really a discount. They took $960 off the price I paid up front and spread that $960 out over 12 months, calling it a “Premier Service” contract. I have now learned that it means I get one tech visit.
I am selling my house. I originally called to talk to them about ending their “Premier Service” contract that automatically withdraws $80 from my bank account each month and only stops after 12 months IF I call to cancel it then. The first service support person I spoke to yelled over me and wouldn’t stop as she angrily told me there was a signed contract. I tried calling again to ask what the contract covered. They hung up on my call after I waited on the line for 5 minutes. I called again. When I finally got through and requested a copy of the contract, she didn’t email me it to me and also did not have someone else call me to explain it to me, as she had said she would do. I had to call another time. And on that call, I was emailed a quick phone pic of the papers that were pinned to the office wall. Every person I spoke with had no interest in helping. They clearly did not want to talk to me and thought I had no right to ask questions. The service people have no understanding for how difficult it is to be their customer.
The fireplaces work great. The service was insulting. -
I’d stay away from Cyprus Air. They were a no-show to a scheduled appointment. When I called they said their online scheduling system wasn’t connected to their network so it was basically fake. You need to call to schedule but be advised it’s a broken system from the start. The woman I spoke with said hundreds of people have been dealing with this issue and they still are incapable of correcting it. Imagine how they handle your home equipment.

I have used Nelson’s HVAC for multiple commercial properties and I can confidently say it’s the best HVAC company in Northern Virginia. Mr. Nelson is experienced and all his technicians are very well trained. I highly recommend using them for anything HVAC related!

A waste of time.....
I have been trying to get a quote out of Cyprus Air for a whole home water treatment system since Sept 2025. Tech came out in Sept., started a quote and then they ghosted me. They called again and I consented to another quote attempt. They were to come today between 2 and 5 pm. At 4:45 pm I called and inquired about the techs visit. I was told that all visits by the tech had been canceled. I made the appointment several days ago and took the day of so I could be home for the techs visit. A complete waste of time. Cyprus Air DID NOT give me a courtesy call to tell me that my appointment had been cancelled but wanted to reschedule so that I could potentially waste a third day. I said no thank you and am taking my business to a more considerate company. DO NOT RECOMMEND. -
Condon-Reed was wonderful to work with! I would recommend working with them!
-
We have been utilizing their services for many years. They have always perform to high standards, solving problems other companies could not even identify.

I called at 1:00 that my heating unit had stopped working and they had someone out there by 2:30. I’ve used them for 18 years and would not use anyone else.
