My first experience with Independence Landscape occurred during last month’s snowstorm. They are responsible for snow removal in my neighborhood under a contract with VDOT. While observing from my window, I noticed one of their snow plows was struggling up a hill, while another truck attempted to tow it. Once they managed to free the stuck plow, it unfortunately veered into both my yard and my neighbor's, as well as knocking down my mailbox in the process.
Witnessing this, I went outside and met Chris, who was genuinely apologetic and assured me they would fix the situation. Once the snow melted, Allen came by to install a new mailbox and it looks great! Chris has also kept me informed, letting me know that once the weather improves, they will repair the damage to the grass in my yard and some of my neighbor’s caused by the plow.
It’s refreshing to work with a company that stands by its promises and takes accountability for unexpected incidents. I appreciate collaborating with a locally owned business that values strong ethics, and I look forward to contacting them for any future landscaping needs. The commitment of employees like Chris and Allen truly makes a difference. They exceeded my expectations in addressing the damage, and I’m very thankful for their efforts. The team at Independence Landscape did a great job renovating our small townhouse backyard. From the demo to the rebuild, the process went seamlessly, which is very impressive because we were very difficult backyard to get into as the middle house. Independence has been performing monthly upkeep on my yard for several years. As a result, my corner lot is the envy of our neighborhood. I have also entrusted them with bigger projects such as burying drain pipes in my yard, landscaping a big area in my front yard, and also spring cleaning, maintenance, and mulching. I am always amazed by the excellent service they provide. From the management team with whom I interface for estimates to the skilled workers who complete the jobs, everything is top-notch.

Excellent experience with Chris Oliver and the Indepence Crew. They did all the work promise, well and a little more, noticing things that would look better doing that we hadn’t discussed. Chris oversaw the project and he worked with the crew to make sure the work done was appropriate for the time of year. Independence Landscaping has been taking care of my property for years now. Neighbors are constantly commenting about the beauty of my lawn and the upkeep of my gardens. Yesterday I had a small crew come out to do weeding, remove unwanted vegetation, trim bushes, and mulch. They worked all day. The men were accommodating, professional, and so kind. I highly recommend this company.

We wanted to provide a brief update as we our nearing the end of our first year with Independence Landscape, who rescued our lawn 😊 In fact, our lawn has never looked better! From the time we consulted Independence Landscape, the communication has been terrific, the entire staff has been professional, reliable, and friendly. The work has been outstanding and customer service is second-to-none! We look forward to continuing our partnership with Independence Landscape in the New Year. My wife and I were so surprised when we came home to the terrific job the team did on our landscape, bed clean-up, and mulching! We can’t say enough about the quality of the job and how much better our yard looks already. We wanted to pass along our gratitude to the entire team and also greatly appreciate all of Sam’s help and level of communication along the way. Thank you again for all your hard work. We look forward to seeing what else you have in store for our yard!

We have been extremely impressed with the customer service, attentiveness, responsiveness, and quality of our service from Independence. Andrew, our account manager and main point of contact, always gets back to me within a few hours and the broader team does a great job keeping our lawn and plants looking healthy and beautiful!

Ben Rupert was instrumental in providing a landscape plan in several areas in my yard that sorely needed attention.

In the back yard, a tree that had been there for over 30 years had to be removed, and it left a desolate area. The large electrical box in front of this area was even more apparent without the tree. When entering the yard from the gate, there was nothing that was welcoming. Ben came up with a plan, and his team implemented it beautifully.

There were other areas in the yard that also needed attention, and with Ben’s help, each were improved more than I could have ever imagined. His team removed my existing paver walkway from the extension of the driveway, hauled away the debris, extended and buried the below grade downspout into the back of the property and installed concrete sand to level and finished the back walkway with Techo-Bloc Eva Pavers. He installed River Jack Stone so that the water from the downspout would help alleviate drainage issues. He created a landscape bed and installed a Forest Pansy Redbud tree and decorative grass around the electrical box.

Ben also improved other landscape beds and installed Techo-Bloc Edge Stone around them. The beds were cleaned, and mulch was installed.

And finally, in the front of the house Ben’s team removed the old Azalea bushes, installed new soil, and installed Camellia bushes and mulch to finish it.

Ben, Connor, and the entire Independence Landscape Team are absolute masters at their craft and some of the most professional, responsive individuals I’ve ever worked on a project with. The job included designing/redoing our frontyard bed, installing downspouts, building a 330 square foot backyard patio bordered by a dry creek, installing natural stone steps leading up to the patio, and designing/executing new backyard landscape beds.

Our backyard - which is on a slope and not a huge space to begin with - looks out onto a shared driveway. Given that, my wife and I struggled with how to create a sense of privacy in our backyard without having a fence installed. Of all the professionals we met with initially, Ben, our Project Manager and Connor, who did a lot of the design work, had the clearest vision of how to get it done. Both were mindful and in tune with what was important to my wife and I. Both were creative in working within the parameters of our space to deliver what is in my opinion, the very best job that anyone could have done. Big credit to the the teams that came out and did the work as well, Cheto included. The results are stunning and my wife and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve been an Independence Landscape customer for 8 months. They maintain my yard, reduce pesky bugs like mosquitos, and remove leaves with excellence. Their customer service is outstanding; my guy Brandon is responsive, helpful, and truly cares about our needs and lawn.

This past week, they installed sod throughout my entire backyard. The job was complete in less than two days and we are extremely happy with the results. As someone who relies on reviews, anyone who is looking for a good landscaper should give Independence Landscape a shot. You will not be disappointed.

This summer I met with the account rep Chris Oliver to over concerns and expectations and as usual, I came home to lawn worthy of pictures! Chris provided the service that I have come to love from this company; and my lawn is all the better for it!
