We are so happy with our side steps that J&J did for us - beautiful work - Ernesto is an excellent craftsman and the crew assigned to do the work were very responsive and polite and so easy to work with. If there was a weather delay we knew in advance and we were always kept in the loop re project. My only negative is that I want more stonework done by J&J but had to stop at the steps. Highly recommend.

J&J did beautiful work on my patio; charged a reasonable amount; and completed the work on time. The crew was professional, courteous and diligent. They showed up daily and worked hard, making tremendous progress each day. Recently J&J completed our annual yard clean-up and mulching. I was very happy with the work they did this year. We have almost an acre so there are a lot of little nuances to our property, which J&Jbaddressed with no issues. Donnell & Heather are a great team and very responsive.

One of the things I really appreciated was that they were cost conscious and didn’t try to oversell me additional landscaping. J&J serviced my lawn in Alexandria for more than two years. Here's what I have today after spending $180/month with this company. Pictures tell the story.
Workers also piled up lawn debris along rear property line without permission, creating a miniature landfill where poison ivy, small trees, and wildlife took up residence.
Owner was evasive and failed to respond to multiple attempts to reach via telephone. Services terminated. There are other lawn-care companies offering better customer service.

This is an excellent company. I have used them for three different projects of varying size, complexity and cost, and have been happy with all three. They responded promptly to my initial inquiries, provided clear cost estimates, and in the most recent case (a drainage problem) suggested a solution I had not considered. In one instance, when a particular holly tree agreed on in the contract turned out not to be available, they promptly provided a slightly larger one at no additional charge. They are so reliable that for the second project, I arranged for them to do it while I was out of town, and it was all finished (including all cleanup) when I returned home. Highly recommended.

J&J Landscape Service has provided our lawn care for many years. J&J has also done custom landscaping for us in our back patio area. The entire team is extraordinary. Donnell Jones is the Senior Director who has managed both our weekly lawn care and custom projects. He is helpful, knowledgeable about anything with the lawn, efficient and manages a top-notch team. The team that takes care of the lawn weekly does a wonderful job. Neighbors tell us how great the lawn looks and we give credit to J&J! After reaching out to a few companies for quotes on replacing our old deck and stairs with hardscape, we decided to go with J&J and we are very glad we did. James did an excellent job communicating with us, and worked hard to create the perfect design. When it came time to actually do the work, the crew was hard working, respectful of our house and neighbors, and did excellent work. We are very happy with the hardscape and lighting that J&J installed for us and would definitely use them again down the line for any future projects.

J&J recently repaired my timber retaining wall and the team was great. First, I want to say the estimator and company owner talked me out of the need for a major replacement effort given the state of the timber. I was asking for a complete replacement and they said I didn’t need it. Saved a lot of money. As for the team they worked hard through a bitter cold spell and did a neat job and kept things clean. We live in a community where J&J cares for the common area. They also provide individual yard services which we've used for years. We did not know they also do other specialty work on yards (spring and fall cleanups, annual maintenance, plantings, etc.). We recently had them do a fall cleanup and some plantings. Their work was spectacular. Donnell was professional and helpful in helping us organize the work. Jose and Alonso were outstanding in performing the work. We intend to entrust our yard to J&J for years to come. Highly recommend.

Mr. James Derrington's J and J Landscaping team recently came to my home to take care of some mulching and edging I needed. This was my first experience with the company; I didn’t receive any recommendations or conduct extensive research as most Northern Virginians are prone to do — I simply went online and decided to go with them.

The scheduling automation and responsiveness that Mr. Derrington has implemented in his business is the best I’ve encountered and that’s coming from an IT guy with 45 years of combined military and government civilian experience.

The Project Manager arrived right on time to review the requested work, demonstrating professionalism throughout the entire process, and making great recommendations. Within a couple of days I received back a reasonable quote for the things we discussed.

On the scheduled day of the work, J&J’s Christopher and his assistant showed up around 7:15. We went over the tasks once more, and then I left everything in their capable hands. The final result was gorgeous! Wife just walked in from teaching elementary kids all day and the first thing she says upon viewing the completed work were: “It looks fantastic!!” Second thing was: “I didn’t believe it could look this good."

J&J did an exceptional job, and I will definitely return to them without any hesitation. I already have some more work in mind ;-)

J&J did a really great job on a clean up/Sod project in my backyard. The team arrived promptly for three mornings and did a great job, doing a spring clean up and then leveling and laying sod and mulch on a large tier in my backyard. Would definitely recommend their work.

We used J & J Landscape to demolish and rebuild our patio. At every step of this project, J & J walked us through the process and were always receptive to our needs. They worked with us to be sure that we had the patio we wanted. They were prompt and efficient when executing the project. The end product is beautiful.

Highly recommend! James and his team did an amazing job installing a stone front walkway/stoop and replacing the front trees and plants to complement the walkway. We were very pleased with the entire process and love the results.
