Independence Landscaping is the gold standard in landscaping and lawn care for Northern Virginia. We had our front walkway redone, the front yard graded, and new sod placed. Every member of the team was communicative throughout the process from the supervisor to the skilled workers. The masons attention to detail was evidenced in a final product that not only looks great but built correctly for us to enjoy for many years to come. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for high quality work that looks great and is done right.

We have used Independence for every lawn care and landscaping project from the day we moved into our house. They have fenced, regraded, and sodded our backyard; re-landscaped our front walkway front porch step (and used the previous walkway slate to build us a custom fire pit); and are currently installing a new patio that’s something over 800 sq feet.

The owner, Chad, is incredibly responsive, and, on short-notice, was able to have a crew come out to temporarily relocate some of our front foliage so it did not get damaged during some renovation work.

We have recommended Independence Landscaping to all our friends and have received numerous compliments from our neighbors for how nice their work is.

I enjoy mowing my lawn, but my shrubs were way overgrown and I was looking for a company that could edge, weed, and mulch my flower beds. I had a holly bush that needed to be removed, three small trees that needed to be limbed up, and a Rose of Sharon that needed to be brought under control. I struggled to find a company that would do the work I needed, for reasons unknown to me. I finally found Independence Landscape through a recommendation and gave them a call. They responded same day that I requested the quote, came out the same week to provide an estimate, and got us on the schedule within three weeks. The ended up having a cancellation so they were able to do the work even sooner. The results were wonderful and I couldn't be more pleased with how communicative, polite, professional and well priced they were. I will 100% use them again. (Note: I forgot to get photos right away, so these are over a week old, but still show the great work they did.)

We have never been happier with our lawn. After using Independence Landscape’s personalized lawn care program with preventative fungicide and seeding…our lawn even looked great in August! We used to try maintaining our lawn ourselves but could never achieved the perfect lawn.

I hired independence landscaping to do some work in my backyard and I couldn't be happier with the results! The team was incredibly professional and easy to work with from start to finish. They took the time to listen to my needs and preferences and provided a thorough explanation of the project, including the design and estimated timeline.

Once the work began, the team worked diligently to transform my backyard. They incorporated a retaining wall and moved our rose bush to better spot and even added sod. They also installed a new patio that has become my favorite spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Throughout the project, the team was always respectful of my property and kept everything clean and tidy. They were also responsive to any questions or concerns that I had, and made sure that I was completely satisfied with the finished product.

I reached out again with some help installing a shed foundation and they even helped install the shed at no extra charge.

Overall, I would highly recommend independence to anyone in need of landscaping services. They are a talented and professional team that truly cares about their work and their clients. Thanks to their hard work, my backyard has become a wonderful place to spend time and entertain guests.

Awesome company, I personally dealt with Chris Oliver via email. He gave us a plan and timeline. When we started in Feb/March our lawn looked like half weeds, half torn-up softball field. It's now October and we have a thick, green carpet for a lawn! Wonderful communication, friendly and timely customer service, reasonable prices. Their signs are all over our development--because they're that good! Highly recommend!

I live on Blu Steel Way in Lorton VA and Independence Landscape are in neighborhood clearing my street of snow and ice and the Driver (Eswin) did an amazing job clearing snow and Ice on my street. I would recommend Independence Landscape and Eswin personally as he did an awesome job. Thanks

Independence Landscape was one of VDOT’s snow removal contractors. Our section of road was not properly plowed by another contractor because he kept getting stuck at the end of our cul-de-sac. So VDOT sent in Independence the next day to finish the job. They did a superb job. Everything was cleared and our road started to dry immediately after they were done. The driver who did all this great work was Eswin, and we could not have been luckier to have him doing the snow removal for us. He made every effort to avoid piling snow in our driveways and even made a return trip to salt our road after he ran out of salt and went somewhere to pick up a new load of salt. Hopefully during the next snowstorm, we get Independence Landscape as the contractor and Eswin as the driver.

Independence Landscaping did a fantastic job cleaning up our large yard, trimming hedges and trees, laying down endless amounts of mulch, and replacing ailing plants. I only wish I had taken "before" pictures to document the transformation. Allen, our project manager, was a great help in suggesting particular plants that would work in our situation. He is knowledgeable, patient, and an excellent communicator. He was on-site a number of times during the two day project and personally cut a giant hydrangea bush to make it look like a tree. Shout out to the amazing hardworking crew, Modesto, Vidal, and Renato. They know their business and made a great suggestion about moving a small plant that I planned to dispose of to a different location. They did all of the edging by hand, and it is beautiful! We are beyond thrilled and look forward to having Independence help us going forward both with regular maintenance and gradually adding more plants to empty beds.

I’ve been a customer of independence Landscape for several years now for their lawn care treatment plan. I tried with other companies for years and even tried maintaining my own yard but I could never get a nice lawn. I finally decided to hire independence after reading reviews online and I’ve never been disappointed. Their crews do excellent work. My account manager Allen is always friendly and ready to answer any of my questions or concerns. My house is on a corner lot so there’s always a lot of people walking by my home. I always get compliments on my lawn now and I’ve recommended Allen and Independence Landscape to many of my neighbors. I’m very happy with their quality and service and will continue to be a proud customer.

Sam and his team are amazing to work with. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive. They took my yard from overflowing weeds to a beautiful oasis. Their maintenance plan keeps my yard gorgeous. Extremely happy with the results, professionalism, and work. Highly recommend.

Mark and his team did an incredible job on our spring cleanup and refresh. The crew was professional, efficient, and left everything looking renewed and ready for spring growth. I especially appreciate how thoughtful they are around our native plant gardens. The team takes great care to support reseeding/regrowth and the long-term health of the perennials we’ve planted throughout. I use J&J each and year for fall and spring cleanup and mulching. They listen, walk the yard with me, and ensure I am happy with their work before calling it end of job. J&J does a great job taking care of all the common area landscaping in our townhome community, so we hired them to do some work on our back patio. Donnell was very communicative, and the crew took their time and was very thorough. We could not be happier with the result!

I am extremely satisfied with the work done by J & J to fix the drainage problem from my sump pump overflow. The workers were polite, professional, and so thorough that I couldn't even tell where they had dug up the grass to install a pipe when they finished the project. I highly recommend this company!

We were looking to undergo an extensive landscaping project for our home. We initially tried multiple "highly rated" landscaping companies near Oakton, VA and met with many of these companies. However, after being "ghosted" by many landscaping companies, likely due to size/scope of project (RulyScapes, South Side Specialties), or being quoted with outrageous prices and paying $3500 for a kindergarten-grade landscaping design/blueprint (NOVA Landscape Construction), we finally met with J&J Landscaping.

From our first meeting with Jamie Derrington and Donnell Jones, we immediately noted their professionalism and extensive knowledge with landscaping. We completed a walk-through of our project which entailed installing brand new mulch islands with magnolias/crape myrtles/ boxwoods/peonies/ hydrangeas / daylilies/azaleas/daffodil/etc., completely tearing out our existing foundation beds in front of our house and planting extensive plants/shrubs/mulch, building a retaining wall for an elevated foundation bed, clearing out/leveling/placing topsoil/sodding a 1/4 acre parcel of land, and putting in dazzling accent lights in the islands/walkways/retaining walls. They confidently accepted this challenge and started within 2 weeks.

What impressed me most about J&J Landscaping was their constant communication with me, always keeping me updated on their progress. In addition, I tasked J&J Landscaping with coordinating with Pascual Irrigation in installing a sprinkler/irrigation system while they completed our project. Again, J&J Landscaping handled this coordination with aplomb. They seamlessly coordinated for Pascual Irrigation to install the sprinklers right after they had built all the islands/foundation beds/retaining wall, but before leveling and placing the topsoil layer for the 1/4 acre sod area.

The J&J Landscaping work crews were also extremely professional and showed the utmost pride in their work. As our project progressed, we made many changes and expanded the scope of the work. The many changes that we incorporated did not faze J&J Landscaping - they were able to easily adapt and forge ahead with the new direction. This is a testament to their competence in landscaping and customer care.

In summary, I cannot laud J&J Landscaping enough with their professionalism, knowledge, and quality of work. Their fair pricing undercut the exorbitant charges of other landscaping companies who charged almost DOUBLE the price that J&J Landscaping quoted. It was truly a pleasure to work with Jamie Derrington, Donnell Jones, and the J&J Landscaping family.

I use J&J for all of my landscaping and hardscaping needs at multiple properties that I own. Recently, at one of my properties, J&J built a retaining wall along my driveway. The crew led by Yovanny did an excellent job. They were thoughtful and careful in the overall design and construction and always acted in a professional manner. At another property, J&J finished my spring cleanup and mulching. Kareem and his crew were fantastic. The time and attention they gave to my home was really incredible. My yard has never looked better. Thanks to both crews for all of your hard work! It is greatly appreciated!

A fantastic job start to finish. The J&J Crew arrived on time every day for two weeks and finished our new patio on schedule. Their attention to detail was spot on and their workmanship absolutely flawless. The beautiful design has transformed our worn out and overgrown old brick side yard to a beautiful new outdoor living space. The oyster blue flagstone is absolutely stunning.
