Great help in the garden center...

They need to get more specialized in the paint dept. Sporting and Automotive. Store seemed clean and fairly stocked up.

I had asked another local company to help be with my yard drainage problem. They were too busy. Not so with Hampton Roads Irrigation & Landscape. Bert Voight called back the next day. He came by at my convenience to give a fair assessment and cost. His people came out within the week and took care of everything in two days. They came back a week later to care for any problems. Bert Voight is an honest and professional business owner. I could not ask for any better.

Bert and Hampton Roads irrigation and Landscape built a flagstone path to our back patio and completely re-did our front landscaping. They did a fantastic job - were on budget, on time, and cleaned up after. Couldn't have asked for more!

Disappointed with the customer service over the past couple of years. Had always been satisfied but it seems like they are not hiring enough people to do the jobs they book. I've been with them 9 years and have had several service issues the past few years and worse most recently. I pay for the "premium" maintenance plan so that I can schedule appointment days when I needed service over the years. I was told today I cannot schedule a day for service and that they would call me the night before when they could "fit me in" but couldn't offer the first clue as to when and that this process works better to support all their customers best. Then why am I paying for a "premium" plan??? It places the burden on the customer which is a poor practice no matter how convenient for the company. Also I have had issues on two occasions where they did not honor their "freeze guarantee" which is the entire reason I purchased a maintenance plan. They are understaffed and it always feels like they are trying to run a big business on a small business budget and need to hire more people. Just being honest with what I've experienced and seen change first hand with them.

Great experience! One of my pipes was pierced by an aerator and sprung a leak. They got out to me quickly. The technicians were very professional and explained everything to me about the fix.

Mark was a great representative for your company. He was personable, knowledgeable, and did his job quickly and cleaned up afterwards. Great service call!!

Hampton Roads Irrigation was an outstanding company to work with. We contracted with them to add on to our irrigation system. The work they did for us was done on schedule, they showed up on time, performed the work as they described and took very good care to restore our property as it was before the work started. We are so pleased to finally find a company that does what they say and actually cared about us.

These guys were great! We had an entire driveway that sloped to the back end of our house and it was tenant occupied. We had to install a French Drain and a collection bin and have it trenched out over 100 yards past the house to accomadate the lake that pooled every rainstorm. They were professional, efficient and the work has stood the test of the past few months flawlessly. These are the guys if you need work done.

All the staff at Hampton Roads Irrigation & Landscaping are very very friendly, professional, prompt, courteous and easy to work with. They delivered a turnkey well and irrigation system at a great price and at my request added the equipment needed to eliminate any iron in the water so I wouldn’t get any of those rust stain that you see so may wells produce. I would highly recommend them to anyone choosing to install a new irrigation system.

Hampton Roads Irrigation did a full yard irrigation system for our next door neighbor. As we watched the work being done, we were impressed with what looked like a fast-paced crew intent on getting the job finished! When it was done, we immediately developed "irrigation envy" and decided to have our own yard done.

We had our front yard done last fall with a system split into five zones to accommodate flower beds, devil strips, etc. The job was done in one day. Some post-installation adjustments were needed to get the various sprinkler heads perfectly aligned and requests to have those adjustments made were answered promptly, without question, in a totally friendly way.

This summer we decided we needed to go all-in and have our back yard added to the system. Once again, we were totally pleased with the way the crew worked, answering all our questions and explaining why certain things needed to be done to make the system efficient.

I almost NEVER give five-out-of-five or ten-out-of-ten ratings because I believe there is always room for improvement. This is one of my rare exceptions because I can't think of a thing HRI would do to make things better. Kudos all around to the crew and the office staff. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Bert and his crew (Jason, Brooks, etc.) were very responsive. I know because I asked many questions and never felt like I was being rushed and always received answers to my questions. They didn't just perform a service, they left a customer educated. Exactly what my wife and I are looking for in every contractor we hire. Very professional and thorough. We're absolutely repeat customers...next, hardscape!

I went with this company in the summer of 2021 with a grading, soding, & sprinkler system install for my front lawn. Also had a paved short pathway built in. They did great work & price was good too.

However, I must say that I'm not feeling their maintenance plan. It's pretty high considering I only have 3 zones & I pay for the lesser expensive one...I cannot choose when they come to shut the system down or turn it back on.

As of 22 Mar 2024, I am still waiting for them to turn my system on. Its usually turned on by the second week in March. I've had to go out and manually water my lawn a couple of times so far. My grass is turning green with me doing the work instead of my sprinkler system 😠.
I've paid but still have to just wait? 🤨👎

Well, I'm glad it's supposed to rain tonight, so that I won't have to drag myself outside to manually water my lawn yet again. HRI has made the neighbors laugh at me 😖.
Looks like it's time to move on from using this company.

We have nothing but praise! From start to finish, we were impressed. Bert gave us great input on the design choices. They were on time with installation and the crew was amazing. When they were finished they cleaned up every trace and left our area in great condition. We love our patio!!

The woman on the phone had a real attitude problem and basically told me it wasn't their fault that a pipe was leaking on the manifold that 3 days prior they had pushed and tightened with a lug wrench. Then she said no one could get to me for a few days. I told her she would be responsible for my water bill. Then she lectured me on how to talk to someone to get something done. If they had done the job properly, I wouldn't be in a position to have them come back to repair their mistake in the first place. Her impertinence was insufferable. I do not have the time or patience to deal with insufficient people. Do not use this company.

Outstanding Job with everything! From the 1st time Bert arrived for the estimate till his crew was finished with the project...100% on target. Had an entire new system installed while coordinating install of new sod for entire yard. System had to be up and running as sod was laid down. Everything works perfect and I'm a very happy customer. My neighbors are asking who did the work and I'm pointing them to HR Irrigation. Thanks Bert!

My experience with HRIL was outstanding. They were willing to take on repairs and adjust costs as the condition of my sprinkling system was better than expected saving me thousands. The repair crew were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Their work was outstanding, exceeding expectations. Highly recommend HRIL.

We highly recommend Hampton Roads Irrigation and Landscape. We hired Bert and his team for two projects. We had them install an irrigation system for our front yard and flower beds as well as a series of French drains and a driveway drain. The estimates for both projects were very fair and were less expensive than competing quotes we received. The final cost was very close to the original estimate with no surprises. The owner Bert was very transparent and didn’t try to oversell me on anything unnecessary. The workers that did the installs were professional and expeditious. They went above and beyond and didn’t cut any corners. If you need a sprinkler system, drains, or landscaping I’d recommend hiring Hampton Roads I&L.

Hampton Roads Irrigation has serviced our house for several years. They are very professional and always show up at the scheduled time. The technicians are very thorough ensuring that all zones are working properly at the spring start up. The office staff Joy and Kelly are terrific in answering any questions. I would highly recommend them for any irrigation needs. Note they also do backflow testing as well for us and have handled the paperwork with the City of Newport News which has been a huge plus.
