Normally would not put anything bad up about a company, BUT these folks deserve it, royally. Jay and their team have worked on my system since they acquired KS Services a couple years ago and since they have been extremely difficult to even get over to the house to do work. When they do come, all you hear about is how bad everything is and recommend things that don’t make since. They installed dampers for zones that don’t work at all, installed ducts that don’t need to be there and when I asked them to remove them they just taped up the hole they made and left the huge duct sitting in my cellar. The worst part of their company (which is a tough thing to determine) is their attitude and customer service, though. My board got zapped by a storm last Friday and was without AC over the weekend (this is early August, some of the hottest days of the year). I tried calling them probably 8 times. They have an answering service. Every time I called the operator said they have been in touch with them, and that they would call me right back. Of course, nothing. The next Monday morning I start calling again and they would pickup the phone and then hang up. Thought it was a mistake but I called multiple times and heard them pickup and then hang up. Eventually I emailed Jay Douglas, and he said I should contact the salesman from the prior company to get it fixed. What? They don’t exist and they bought the customer book (me). What a coward. Their work sucks. Their attitude sucks. And they will make you miserable if you become a customer. Can’t recommend that you run as fast as you can, like I am, away from this company.

We've used Douglas since moving to Birmingham and each time they come out I am impressed with the technicians and their service. Jonathan Sales, the technician that visited our home today, was no exception. He was on time, personable, professional, communicative, took the time to explain everything so I felt confident and knowledgable, and he was extremely kind and considerate. Jonathan was great to work with. Consistently awesome service, and awesome techs. Jonathan went above and beyond. I couldn't ask for anything more. Thanks Douglas and Jonathan for taking such great care of our home and us.

2025 Update Regarding Plumbing Services: Our neighborhood plumber retired so we were looking for someone to help us out with plumbing needs. We decided to give Douglas a try after having such great experiences with them on the heating/cooling side. It was another great experience with Douglas! Easy to schedule, quick service, and Jeremy was great! He was on time, personable, professional, explained the issue and the solution, fixed it up for us and even came back out regarding a question I had. Thank you Douglas and Jeremy for continuing to care for our home!

Jeremy and Dillon came out today and provided a valuable service snaking a kitchen drain line. They answered many questions about the overall state of my home’s plumbing and i felt empowered to make better decisions regarding future plumbing improvements. Thanks to both!

The only way I knew I had a plumbing problem was I found my backyard full of water. I immediately called Douglas ( had HVAC with them) and they sent Jeremy out within 30 minutes. Jeremy went through the whole house checking every possible place the water could be coming from. It turned out I had a leak in the slab of my house. Jeremy worked diligently along with his helper Dylan to isolate once the area had been identified. They spent two days
chiseling through concrete to find the pipe. It was quite an ordeal, but I am thankful that I had Jeremy and Dylan working on it. I want to thank them for their kindness, keeping me aware of everything going on and repairing the problem. Thanks guys for helping a senior citizen handle a serious situation!!

Douglas Cooling and Heating went above and beyond my expectations! Brandon, the service technician, was smart, thorough, polite, and incredibly informative. Most importantly, he was honest. For years, I dealt with a dripping coil issue that two major HVAC companies misdiagnosed, costing me money, health problems, and constant headaches. One of these companies even had me on a maintenance plan and recommended replacing my entire system for over $20K.

Brandon came in, diagnosed the issue correctly, and fixed it quickly, saving me from unnecessary expenses. His expertise and transparency were refreshing after the frustrating experiences with other “Major “ companies. I can't recommend Douglas cooling and Heating enough—top-notch service!

Great experience with this company. My dogs had chewed up some air duct in my garage, and so I called them to get it repaired. They recommended putting in metal duct in the area to prevent a re-occurrence . Work looks great, would definitely use them again.

Heat went out around 2:00am. Called Douglas Cooling and Heating, and they had a great technician (Jonathan Sales) out later that morning.

Jonathan was professional, polite and personable. He explained what he found and was able to get it fixed quickly.

Plumber and worker arrived a day earlier which was great. Work completed timely and clean up was good.

Douglas Cooling and Heating solved a problem I had with keeping a room above my garage heated and cooled. Keith was able to identify my problem and suggest the Mitubishi Single Zone Heat Pump. Jamie and Terry had my unit installed in 8 hours and took meticulous care with covering my carpet and their walking path to their truck. Very impressive. Ricky and Russell installed dampers to cut the air flow to that room in order to keep the main area of the upstairs cool. They did a great job of not tracking a mess around my house since they had to work in my attic and were finished by mid morning. Again, very impressive. John came to train us on how to operate my new unit and adjust the dampers if needed. Sara was very sweet and handled payment by phone. I am a very satisfied customer and highly recommend the team at Douglas Heating and Cooling.

Jeremy with Douglass came to my home to relocate a gas line for our grill and performed a system flush of our tankless water heater. He arrived promptly on time and got the jobs done in a few hours time. Very pleased with the end results.

Called when my water heater started leaking. Quick response and professional service. Gave me all of my options and prices upfront and encouraged me to research my options before making a decision. There was no high pressure attempt to upsell and I had my new water heater installed the next day. Definitely recommend.
