Winston and Nick were the technicians who arrived and listened to my concerns and immediately diagnosed the issue and began the repair. Smart Choice Heating and Cooling: An excellent company

I was assigned Smart Choice by AHS.
Yes, I did have to wait a couple of days in 100-degree weather, but I realize that’s part of the downside of having a home warranty. As a new customer—not one of their regulars—I knew I wouldn’t be the top priority.
When Michael from Smart Choice arrived, I asked how long he’d been with the company. He told me seven years, with even more experience in the field. I shared my concerns about some of the bad reviews, and he addressed them directly.
Michael asked thoughtful questions before inspecting the unit, then spent considerable time on the roof. He came back with a detailed assessment and photos showing the poor condition of the system. The previous company (over a year ago) had done visible patchwork while trying to sell me a new unit.
Michael was clear about what AHS would cover, what they would not, and what realistically needed to be done. I already knew that AHS tends to patch old units rather than replace them, no matter the condition. Importantly, Michael never pressured us into buying a new system. After reviewing the photos, listening to his explanation, and asking questions, we trusted his expertise and were the ones who asked about replacement costs.
He carefully walked us through the pricing and explained what Smart Choice includes with a new installation. For example, an electrical upgrade was included—something my friend had to pay $1,000 extra for with another company.
We ultimately purchased a new unit and feel confident about both the price and the value. Smart Choice isn’t the cheapest, nor the most expensive—they’re mid-range. But after comparing with other companies, I found the prep work, warranties, and included services exceeded what others offered. They even installed two portable cooling units the night before, so we had relief until the new AC was installed the next day.
Michael personally stopped by to check on the installation and even showed us the old unit loaded on the truck, which reassured me we had absolutely made the right decision. It’s frustrating to know AHS would not have replaced it, given its condition—but that’s part of the trade-off of having a home warranty. (I’ve still seen the benefits for smaller items like washers and dryers.)
Michael asked us to give him a call in a couple of weeks for a follow-up walk-through to ensure everything is working properly.
Everyone we dealt with—Michael, Sal, Gerardo, Nick, and others whose names I don’t know—were professional, thorough, respectful of our home and friendly. They even went out of their way to be nice to my small dog! Overall, my experience with Smart Choice Heating and Cooling was very positive, and I feel comfortable recommending them.

Amazing Company! The Technician that came out was knowledgeable and professional and explained everything to help me understand all my options. Office Staff was so nice & accommodating with it being right in the middle of summer. They have gained a forever customer!

Update!! Had the company back out today to finalize everything we discussed at my original appointment. Everyone that came out was amazing yet again!! Just blown away by this company!

Angel was very respectful, knowledgeable and informative. My heater was down and he knew exactly what the issue was within 10 minutes. Before you know it I was up and running. Highly recommend!!!

We recently had some issues with our AC unit. Like alot of people, the summer months can be extremely hard on the AC. We reached out to Smart Choice Heating & Cooling. Not only were they professional, they were prompt and were able to get a tech out the same day. I am grateful and will be using them for any future AC needs.

Adrian and Chris were awesome. They sent an ETA text and email once they were enroute. My AC unit was not cooling before they arrived and it didn’t take long for them to figure out the issue. They were very efficient and had great communication. Adrian also did great at explaining what preventative items I should keep in mind to do soon in order to keep my system running for as long as possible. Appreciate their service today.

Angel Olivas, along with Nick arrived on time and immediately I felt at ease with them. They were through, communicative, and pleasant the entire time Best part, they were true technicians that focused on the job and not salesman trying to sell us a new unit. I spoke to Erica who is the office manager. She listened to my request that these two technicians come back to finish the job once we have an electrician out. She's a fantastic office manager

Ventura and Lamberto were exceptional! They were very thorough, made sure everything worked with the new blower, it was aligned properly, and even fixed a leak in the drainage pan before they left. I cannot speak more highly of them, it's what should be the norm, but so often isn't these days!

I highly recommend both of them for any HVAC needs you may have! Very professional gentlemen!
