Jeff, the technician, was very, very knowledgeable and did his best to complete the job as soon as possible. Explained everything with patience. He had to replace a smart valve in my system during rainy weather. He waited outside for a while for the rain to stop and told me he’ll come back at a later time; it stopped raining minutes after, and he came back and finished the job! He could’ve said “I left already, I’ll come back later,” but no, he came back. Coincidentally, it started raining again AFTER he left! I definitely recommend this company, got the part and replaced it in a timely matter.

They are very dishonest. They gave us fake quotes for an issue that was never there just to make extra money off us.

Have used Mc Kenney's for several years. Great customer service, professional, but most importantly, honest! Won't recommend service or repairs you don't need!

They were were here very fast. I had wrong parts installed by someone else. He fixed it for me, and explained everything so it was easy to understand. I will NOT go to anyone else from now on. Highly recommend!!

I called multiple outfits out who all stated that the unit needed to be replaced. Mc Kenney's is the only ones that gave an honest assessment and fixed the unit. They have proven there honesty multiple times in the past. I made the mistake of looking for them with the spelling with an i inside of an e.

They were very honest and informative. Didn't try to sell me something I didnt need. Explained and showed us why a seperate heating unit with our air conditioner wasnt good here in Bakersfield. Since getting our new HVAC unit dual pact 15 see 3 ton unit our air is cool and our solar shows we arent using as much energy as before. We are so pleased gave us a high quality unit and had it installed and cleaned up in 1 day. In fact about 6hrs. Polite on time and very affordable. About $5000.00 less than most. I cant say enough about how pleased we are. Installed new thermostat and carbon monoxide reader/alarm also as part of the package. You cant go wrong with Dave and his gang . Thank McKinney's for great service and the cool air.

I was dreading summers because I knew our older A/C unit was eventually going to give up the ghost. Well, it happened yesterday. The technician actually showed up early, spent about an hour and now the system is purring along cooling better than it ever has. The technician, Earnest, was amazing. He explained everything and even showed us a few tricks with our thermostat. McKinney’s A/C is my first and only choice for any future A/C or heating needs.

Tech arrived on time. Explained that he would first check in the attic to make sure everything there was ok. Turn on AC and then checked outside an found compressor was no good. Explained options and checked with his boss in potential cost of compressor. Attempted to pay for service call but stated I would be billed. If I decided to purchase compressor service charge would not be a factor. Tech was very courteous and friendly. Would rate him 10+.

There is not enough praise I could give to this Company for a job well done. They worked so hard in this heated weather to install our new a/c. They were professional and friendly and finished a big job quickly. I would highly recommend this Company. Thank you for everything you did including cleaning up!

I had my AC go down and the next day they were servicing my neighbors house. I asked if they can take a look at it and they did that very same day. Replaced the blown capacitor and had me going within half an hr. Very nice people and sent me an invoice over the mail.

Truly the Rotary Four-Way Test and the 12 points of the Boy Scout Law are commonly practiced by its owners and its employees. Investment properties, commercial property for our business, and my personal home, are all maintained and serviced by McKenny's and I will go no where else. Thru the years they have a working knowledge of my properties equipment and needs that fosters loyalty and a sense of partnering with McKennys as a vendor working in tandem to take care of the upkeep and maintenance of my properties. Always attention to details and if need be, thinking outside of the box. Not just a "pat" answer. Rather, thought out and explained so as to understand the options and needs. I have never once felt that I was being coerced to purchase or have service not necessary to the wellbeing of the HVAC needs of our properties. Clearly, Bakersfield's finest beyond compare!

I am writing this review not out of frustration, but out of a sense of duty to warn others. Crap happens but the dishonesty is truly appalling! And I must say I've had pretty good service up until this point.

About 10 years ago, McKenny's Air Conditioning installed an attic HVAC unit in my home. Last year, during a service call, their own technician identified that the secondary gravity condensate drain system had been installed incorrectly. They proceeded to rework the system, including cutting and resoldering the primary copper drain line -- a process that required sending a second technician to complete. Unfortunately, during this rework, they failed to reinstall a critical vertical vent pipe. That vent is essential to relieve backpressure and allow the secondary drain line to function in the event the primary becomes blocked.

Fast forward: a minor blockage in the primary line resulted in water overflowing into my attic, soaking insulation and drywall, and causing thousands in damage -- because McKenny's left the system crippled. The secondary drain line was completely disabled by their sloppy workmanship.

When confronted, McKenny's tried to distance themselves from the work entirely, falsely claiming they "didn't modify the piping," even though I have photographic evidence and a detailed timeline showing exactly what they did. Their technician initiated the rework, they acknowledged the error in the drain configuration, and they were fully responsible for the modification that caused the failure.

To make matters worse, rather than owning their mistake, they've resorted to misleading statements and deflection. They dishonestly, while blocking my view of his work, tried quickly install a vent pipe which was not in his empty hands but hid in a pocket. When he finally moved from blocking my viewpoint, I commented that that vent pipe wasn't there and I even have photos of it.

This wasn't just poor workmanship. It was negligence followed by dishonesty. If I hadn't worked in claims for an insurance company and known how to pursue this properly, I would have been left footing the entire bill.

McKenny's doesn't just install systems -- they install problems and then refuse to stand by their work. Avoid this company unless you're prepared to inspect every inch of their work and fight to hold them accountable when they cut corners.

This update reflects the final outcome of my experience with McKenney’s Air Conditioning.

After water damage occurred following McKenney’s service work, responsibility was denied and I pursued every available remedy. Although I did not prevail in small claims court, the water damage, repairs, and costs were real and fully documented. Ultimately, my homeowners insurance paid the claim and is now pursuing subrogation, meaning they are seeking recovery from the party they determined to be responsible. Insurance companies do not pursue subrogation unless they believe there is a valid basis to do so.

In my experience, this loss resulted from negligent and faulty workmanship—specifically, the failure to leave the system in a properly functioning condition after service. This was a preventable failure that occurred only after McKenney’s performed work on the system. The legal outcome did not change the underlying facts, but it did leave me carrying the burden until my insurer stepped in.

In my opinion, homeowners should avoid McKenney’s Air Conditioning. There are many reputable HVAC companies that stand behind their work and take responsibility when problems arise. Based on my experience, McKenney’s did not demonstrate the level of care or accountability homeowners should expect.
