I chose Yancey for my reroof because of their business longevity. They've run into every situation imaginable and Brian addressed these concerns in the contract. Being told in advance is an explanation, being told after the fact is an excuse. They gave no excuses. The team working was always on time and did exceptional quality work with dry rot repair. The roof looks great and I expect it to work well for years to come.

Tommy was very helpful in explaining the roofing process and itemizing the pricing. He was upfront and honest about policy and interpreting the contract for my mother and I. We are a house full of women and we are always worried about being taken advantage of price-wise but we were not treated that way. Thank you for the excellent service and stunning new roof!

Brian came right on time and was very clear on my options as well as providing some money saving tips. We planned to try to wait to get the roof done but since the quote was $10K less than a competitor we could not say no. We are excited to get work started on our new roof! We hired Yancey for a large exterior renovation that included a new roof with solar, dry rot repair, new siding, and a full exterior paint. Because of the size and complexity, we chose Yancey expecting high-quality craftsmanship and better project management than smaller contractors could provide. Unfortunately, our experience did not match those expectations.

The work was sloppy, and we had to repeatedly request corrections to mistakes as the project progressed. The construction team seemed focused on speed over accuracy, and communication with subcontractors was inconsistent. After completion of the roof and part of the dry rot repair, we decided to cancel the rest of the project due to poor quality.

It took almost two months of repeated calls, emails, and texts before we were able to get a partial refund for the uncompleted work, minus a 15% cancellation fee. This added significant frustration to an already disappointing project.

Summary of our experience with Yancey Construction:

Cost: Higher than expected

Budget: Over budget

Quality: Poor—multiple errors requiring rework

Timing: Delays caused by mistakes

Subcontractor oversight: Limited and ineffective

Communication & customer service: Responsive before payment, but poor afterward

We ultimately hired a small local contractor to fix the mistakes and complete the job properly, on time, and on budget. Based on our experience, I would recommend exploring other contractors before moving forward with Yancey.

This is the BEST company to work with for a whole house fan. Responsive, friendly, helpful and professional. Karla, the office manager goes above and beyond to make the permit process, install and scheduling go very smoothly. Highly recommend using this team for purchasing your fan. Thank you all!

Our mid 60's 3-bedroom single story house used to be very hot/cold due to only around 2-4" of attic insulation. We had the Whole House Fan Co. install an attic fan in the gable, R49 insulation, and a whole house fan. The house fan is incredible using it primarily in the morning and evening. We also run the house fan on low (very quiet) overnight with a couple windows cracked using the security popouts and we wake up to a very cool house (69-73). Yesterday's hot 103 day we didn't need AC until after 8pm. We used to run the AC once an hour, now a couple times a day on very hot days. The Whole House Fan Co. install crew showed up on time, worked until everything was completed, cleaned up and showed us how to work everything. I highly recommend them.

We had a garage and a whole house fan installed at the same time. Gedd and Dominic were very hospitable and did a fantastic job on installation. It’s incredible how quiet these fans are. What a major impact they have on keeping my house and garage cool. I’m expecting using my air conditioner much less and saving money on my PG&E bill.

This is the second time we’ve used this company – 20 years ago in one house, and now in our new house we had an attic fan and a whole house fan installed. Very responsive and very nice – the install was done quickly and looks fantastic.

The Whole House Fan Co. has installed a fan in every house we’ve owned. They had the exact fan we were looking for at a price much lower than other installers. Friendly sales and installers. If we ever move again we will be calling them for a new fan!

We absolutely love our whole house fan. We didn't want to invest in air conditioning since we really only wish that we had it maybe 10-14 nights per year. I love fresh air when I'm sleeping so when I heard about whole house fans I was very interested. We got ours installed earlier this year before the heat came. Once you learn how your house breathes, when to turn on the fan and which windows/doors to leave open it works great. No more sleepless summer nights while baking in a hot bedroom! And didn't have to spend $$$ on air conditioning and ducts! Sales and install crew were both great. Clean install, pics attached of what you will see on your wall (new switch) and ceiling (new vent) everything else is in the attic.

The Whole House Fan Company did a splendid job. The pricing was great and the service exceptional. They replaced an existing whole house fan that was large, loud, and outdated with a new, smaller, and much quieter one. We have been using it everyday since the install and it has made a huge difference without all the loud noise. Because our last one was so big and the new one so much more compact and efficient, they had to patch up the ceiling with new sheetrock. They did a great job with this too! I would highly recommend them!

Since having the whole house fan installed, I haven’t had to use my air conditioner this summer - not even upstairs. The installation took less than an hour - very efficient, professional, and friendly. I highly recommend this company!

Great people and fantastic work!

I don’t usually complain, but the original builders of my house left me with an issue: one section of the home never received fresh air. For years, I relied on portable fans to push air through that area—it helped a bit, but once the weather turned hot, I had no choice but to run the A/C just to make the space bearable. That area was often 10–15°F warmer than the outside.
