Constraction reviews in Sacramento, California

We are very happy with the job the Yancy crew did on our roof. There were many repairs needed and they addressed every one of them to our satisfaction. They were professional and very efficient. Definitely recommend this company.
-
Although the price was excellent, and the materials superb, the process from beginning to end, took entirely too long. The company lacks responsiveness to any inquiries and cannot give you a clear idea of when the work will be done or how long the roof will take to replace. The workmanship and the guys doing the actual work was also excellent, including the cleanup at the end of the day.

The company replaced my midtown apartment building roof in a professional manner. Yancey spent 5 days to tear off and install the whole roof with good quality shingle according to the contract including vents and gutters in a timely manner. there was no issues during the smooth installation. Thanks to inspector Tom, who had done an excellent job.

My experience with Yancey had been superb, contacted Max at there office asking for minor repairs needed for our roof. Needed to meet a deadline by our home insurance, Max attended for our needs promptly, and the work was done within a day… stress free , happy to deal with kind and professional staff… thank you

Brian Speaks from Yancy Home Improvement is Great! Very informative! Very helpful! Would highly recommend!!! 5 STARS!!!

Brian Crane did an excellent job of evaluating our roof, explaining what needed to be done and writing a sales contract for us. We feel confident that we have chosen an excellent company to replace our roof
-
Brian Crane made me feel at ease. He didn't push the more expensive products. I like that Yancey is local, unlike represtatives from other companies that gave me estimates. They also have a long history in Sacramento.

Yancey did a WONDERFUL job on our roof. Very professional with initial contact & during the process. Always on time & went above & beyond their call of duty. Once they were finished, no loose materials or nails were ever noticed. I'd have them to do ANY other project on our home.
Thank you Yancey. You were a lifesaver.... literally. -
The inspector said that Yancey did a good job with the roof install. However, I feel that I was greatly overcharged with a change order for dry rot repair and chimney flashing installation. Five sheets of plywood, nails, misc. wood, and chimney flashing cost me $3,000....no individual item cost breakdown was given because it is their policy not to do that. My estimate of cost didn't even come to $1,000.

Will give a good talk, even sound like a good deal up front, but then find an excuse & hit you with a large over priced change order to make up cost. Act more like flybynight then a reliable contractor you can depend on helping to get the job done right and at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately expect you to pay their entire business operational cost with exorbitant mark ups. Then when have failed to delivery and caused property damage are slow to respond & have thus far failed to offer a solution.

Yancy has been around forever and is definitely your best bet for quality work and a company that stands behind it. No worries over “fly by night” contractors who will be out of business next year and along with them, your warranty. Home improvements can be a huge investment and California homeowners need to do everything we can to protect our investments! I’m super happy with the work I’ve had done by Yancy (a new roof) and I can highly recommend them for all your projects.

Brian was great. Came out did his measurements and gave a lot of detailed explanations of the process and the quote itself. If the roofing team is as good as the estimation process I will be a happy customer.

Buyer beware! Brian came out to inspect my roof and give me an estimate. He offered a 20% discount if I booked then. He stated they had a in-house crew and needed to keep jobs booked. So I asked about dry rot. Brian said he didn’t see any and if there was any, it wouldn’t be much. Repair would be materials and $108/ hour labor. Sounded great!
Start date came, old roof removed and new materials placed on roof. Then Max, crew supervisor, says $4500 in dry rot repair. What! 5 sheets plywood, 3 boards and a piece of flashing needed. I question how less than $1000 in materials required $3500 in labor. Max said he couldn’t give a break down and that was price. Take it or leave it. So, the supposed discount was recouped by the overpriced repair. -
When I learned that a "repair" on our roof would be replacing a large portion of it rather than patching a few problem areas-my neighbor referred me to Yancey Home Improvements.
Brian Crane came to meet with me, he has always been punctual and communicates effectively. He quoted a very reasonable price, never pressured me to buy, and he didn't try to oversell on anything. He kept in touch with me throughout the process to ensure everything went well.
When one issue arose (that wasn't his fault), I contacted him directly and he immediately came out to address it without question.
During the process of renovating my older 4,500 SF home, I have worked with many contractors. Brian is one of two that has been wonderful to work with.
If you need help with your roof and want to work with a company that is honest, fair and reliable; contact Brian and Yancey Home Improvements.
In addition, he took before and after pictures so he could show us what the problems were, and how they were resolved, -
These guys made a real difference. They came and fixed my roof when alot of other companies flat out refused instead wanting to sell me a new one. They worked with me and although these situations are never easy, Yancey home improvements did a really amazing job at working with me to provide the resolution necessary with my insurance company. This was 10 out of 10 experience and I thank them for all the wonderful work they did. They even went the extra steps to try to match my shingles. The entire experience was great.

Recently had our roof done by Yancey. Although we are satisfied with the work, we feel completely blindsided about the price.
We came to an initial agreement about the price and this was what was signed into the contract. Before they start the project, they send a guy over for “inspection” and my husband had mentioned some things we wanted to do like trim the eaves. Never told us this would be an additional cost and this was mentioned to them WAY before they actually started!
They do the tear off and then this guy comes telling me it’ll be an extra 9 thousand dollars!!! What were we supposed to do at that point when our roof is already missing? They knew exactly what they were doing. They could have given us an estimate long before they touched our roof!
The other thing they charged us for is to upgrade from 5 to 7 inch gutters because he hadn’t seen we needed 7. Yet somehow we had to pay for something he overlooked???
We got approved for a loan and we were about 9k under the max. And what do you know, we end up maxing out the loan after the “inspection” after tear off when our hands are tied. They were planning to do this all along.
We chose Yancey because we liked they do a variety of things and we have a fixer upper that will need more done to it but we will not be doing business with Yancey ever again. The work turned out okay but we could have gotten a good job done for a quarter less.
We should have seen this coming when we called the salesman and he told us he had been laid off. Be warned, you will be paying a premium for them being slow. Have told everyone around me to stay far away from Yancey! -
We have had Yancey Home Improvements do many projects on our home: bathroom remodels, a new patio cover, replacement of all of the exterior siding and most recently a new roof and rain gutters. From start to finish each project has gone very smoothly. A big shout out to the entire Yancey team from the sales groups, office and scheduling staff, project managers and all the different crews involved. They were always professional, polite and completed everything in a timely manner. Congratulations for jobs well done!

Brian did an amazing job helping us pick the best system that would meet our needs while fitting our space. He was very patient and kind answering all our questions/concerns. We are looking forward to our installation date and are very thankful we got to work with Brian. Thank you.

I have been working with Brian Speaks on my home project. He is friendly and very professional. He has kept me informed on status of project and went above and beyond in helping me figure out my patio door request. I look forward to continue working with him for the duration of my project.

Yancey team did a great job to design a custom patio cover to replace previous patio that had a very unique geometry. Installation was excellent, the crew lead (Oleh) was very focused, worked hard to get it done, and did an superb job. Would highly recommend this team.
