Stephen the AC guy is fantastic! From the moment I contacted him, he was professional, responsive, and easy to communicate with. He showed up on time, quickly diagnosed the issue with our AC unit, and had it up and running in no time. What really stood out was how clearly he explained everything — no upselling, no pressure, just honest advice and quality work.

I had just moved to FL. My AC stopped working. I had a flyer from Action, so I called them. They came out and said the unit needed to be replaced. The guy said that the inside was covered in rust. I asked to see it and he said he already had it closed up, that should have been my first red flag, but again.2 days later they came out to replace it. different guy. They had the unit apart. I asked him where all the rust was? he said he just installs them. That should have been my second red flag. They installed the unit and my next electric bill was 25% higher. AC is 3 seer higher. The unit was sweating badly. Their response was "This is Florida, this is normal". This is their response to everything. They wanted me to sign a form to get it inspected. I was not willing to sign it, I didn't like the language, I've never had to sign something after installation for an inspection from the county. This was 1.5 years ago. They installed the wrong unit, and had to replace a part of it. (I"m certain that my unit didn't need replacing, but just to drain and clean the water line, which I now know in FL you have to do, we didn't where I came from). It started using more energy and started sweating even more. I kept calling Action. they came out and gave excuses, usually "this is FL and this is normal". My drain pan filled up enough to shut the unit off. I called the county on the inspection. They inspected it and it failed. Action scheduled it during the winter. Even the inspector said that shady companies do that because AC units usually work well in the winter. Action came out to fix it. They said it was my filter. A $3k filtration system I bought through Action. They had to disable it and replaced the $300 worth of filters with a 50 cent filter. I called their bluff, I left the filter in, it did nothing, unit still sweat. They called to get it inspected. I told the inspector I was waiting until summer because even though it was still sweating excessively in the winter, I knew it woudl be much, much, much worse in the summer. Summer came, inspector came, failed again. I told him that Action says "this is FL and this is normal" he said "No, it's not normal. It's so not normal that it won't pass inspection again". The condensation coming out of the drain line is fine, it does produce alot, but the inspector said it shouldn't be sweating like that at all, and it can't drip into the drain pan, it has to go out the drain line. Action refuses to do anythng about it. I did put my $300 air filters back in, but left their 50 cent one in just to see. It had zero effect. But my Filtration Unit UV is still disconnected, which they had to to to put their cheap filter in.
I've already sent them the letter FL requires, so a lawsuit will be fortthcoming. The attorney told me this would be an easy case and my cost to have the unit repaired by someone else would probably be about the same as what I'll win, and FL doesn't usually allow attorney's fees (developers pay too much to the politicians to let that happen). But suing and winning will be public record, so I'm willing to take the loss so that they have this in public records. Plus, after that, I can do a civil suit for all of the other damages this has caused and likely can get my attorneys fees there. This has taught me that now, I don't pay anyone until the job is done. If I had not already paid, I would have told them to stop when there was no rust... Some contractors won't work without being paid up front, but legitimate, honest, and reliable ones will... Steer clear of Action, otherwise, all of your problems with their work is just because "this is FL and just normal", even though nobody agrees with them on that.... There are several actions listed, this one is owned by Thurman Whitacre, which I think that they all are... Ft. Myers, Sarasota, and Naples... This is just a small bit of the issues. I could write about many more issues, but there is not the space here.

I had a disappointing experience with this company. During the inspection, they filled out the report saying that the attic insulation was fine and that the system’s pressure and refrigerant levels were good — but the technician never actually measured the refrigerant levels and never even went up to the attic.

I scheduled two services with them: a UV light installation and a deep cleaning for the AC unit. Both were supposed to happen on separate days (the UV light first, and the cleaning two days later). The day after the initial inspection, I was shocked to find a charge of over $10,000 on my credit card — an error that took two phone calls to fix.

In the end, I paid only for the UV light and canceled the cleaning service after noticing several red flags and feeling uncomfortable with how the company operates.

Their prices seem very high, especially after discussing with friends who had the same type of work done at their properties. I also didn’t feel there was enough transparency or professionalism throughout the process. I hope they improve their communication and accuracy in their services.

We are terminating our relationship with Action Heating and Cooling after a deeply disappointing and misleading service experience.

We maintain an annual service and cleaning contract specifically to prevent system failures and avoid exactly what just happened. Last week, during our scheduled service, their technician replaced a contactor and charged us $275.

Yesterday the system failed. A technician returned and found the unit iced over and diagnosed a leaking evaporator coil. After contacting their office, we were told the part was “very difficult to find,” would take 4 to 6 weeks, and that the recommended solution was to replace the entire system for $10,000–$12,000.

    That recommendation was completely wrong.

With a single phone call and less than ten minutes of effort, I located the exact evaporator coil. It is readily available and still under the manufacturer’s warranty. My only cost is labor and refrigerant. Apparently, no one at Action bothered to do even the most basic part lookup before pushing a five-figure replacement.

While researching the coil, I also looked up the contactor that was installed last week. That same part sells online for $18. Charging $275 for it raises serious concerns about pricing and ethics.

At this point, there are only two possibilities:
Either Action Heating and Cooling failed to perform even a minimal level of diagnosis and due diligence, or they intentionally steered us toward an unnecessary system replacement.

    Both are unacceptable.

We have referred this company to friends, neighbors, and family. That trust is gone. We will be sharing this experience so others can make an informed decision before they find themselves being sold a $12,000 system they do not need

We had a great experience with Action Cooling from start to finish. Omar in the office was incredibly responsive, honest, and clear every step of the way. He made scheduling easy and took the time to explain our options without any pressure.

Before calling Action Cooling, we received a quote from another company that was absurdly expensive and based on an inaccurate assessment. Action Cooling was honest in their evaluation, clearly explained what actually needed to be done, and saved us so much money as a result.

Kyle, the technician who came to our home, was professional, respectful, and very thorough. He explained his recommendations in a way that was easy to understand and made us feel confident in the decisions we were making.

It’s refreshing to work with a company that values honesty and integrity. Highly recommend Action Cooling—especially Omar and Kyle!
