HVAC reviews in Hollywood, Florida

Have called Capital Air many times for various needs from installations to trouble shooting. They once replaced 3 split units for me in one day. They always seem to have a tech waiting for my call. And never sold me more than needed, which unfortunately has become a industry standard. And i don't know them, work for them or have family with them. Always CYA and get estimates.

This company is a SCAM!!!! A home inspector took pictures of our AC & coils and suggested they should be cleaned. We used this company to clean our AC and AC coils before we sold our house. The company charged us $485. We met with Casey at our home and he supposedly cleaned the unit. The home inspector came back after Capital Air said they cleaned it and took pictures again. There was NO difference, the proof was in the pictures! Capital Air showed up but did NOT clean the coils! We contacted the company and showed them the photos, and they came back out and cleaned the AC & coils. However, they would have gotten away with it if we didn't have the inspector come back and check. Shady business practices beware!

Great Service. All I needed was an annual service and inspection. No attempt to up sell. Made a few recommendations on keeping my AC fit. The price was fair, very reasonable as a matter of fact. From the receptionist to the tech, they were polite, friendly and efficient, on time too. I will definitly use them in the future and recommend them for work you might need to have done. Thanks Capital AC for a positive experience.

I am in the real estate business and am an active investor and have worked with dozens of vendors on dozens of properties over the years. This is a family operation (but able to handle large jobs) and are the absolute best, most reliable AC company I have ever encountered. i would not even consider working with another company. Their prices are also reasonable (not cheap but reasonable). At least as important these folks are reliable, don't waste time, don't B.S. (they have come out and told me that something was just clogged and charged me almost nothing )....I don't do reviews of vendors often but they deserve it.

Their repairman Casey just left my house and he did a great job. He was on time, very good attitude, replaced the inside unit aluminum coil in like 1.5 hours and he told me all there was to know about the issue with my AC unit and how these issues came about due to manufacturing changes in 2014 that he called "the year of the coil"
He also showed me how to make my AC filters fit better, how to place these blue pan tablets in the unit, and even checked the capacitor in the outside unit and cleaned out all the sand that was in the bottom of the outside unit.
This AC repair adventure started for me like the plot to a commercial; I came home from work on a Friday evening and my my wife is complaining that it's hot inside the house. The thermostat is set to 75 but the air temp is 82. I look at the outside unit and there's a bunch of ice on middle of it.
Saturday morning I called like 10 AC companies to find one that would come out Saturday morning and they told me I had a leaking inside coil and they refill some Freon and quoted me way too much to replace the coil, so like the cheap suburban American I am I called 10 more AC companies to get quotes on replacing the coil and Capital are was second from the cheapest quote and I'm glad I chose them it worked out great. I even asked for some business cards to give my neighbors.
Thanks again you guys. -
Professional and thorough. Technician who came out to see old unit was very professional and suggested correct size unit for my condo, he measured everything where the unit was supposed to do. Other estimates I had done just walked looked and left . The technicians that came to install were great, fast and thorough. Thanks to all of them now I have a new efficient unit , right on time for the summer . Highly recommend them.

Capital Air’s technician determined that the ballast for the UV light in our air handler needs to be replaced. He recommended ordering the replacement part online at discount price. The manufacturer’s new ballast, however, didn’t work either. The technician didn’t return my phone calls to clarify whether his diagnosis or the new part is to blame. Capital Air told me to stop calling, as I haven’t ordered the ballast from them at a premium. No customer should be dealing with such incompetence and arrogance.

I had a another AC repair man my tenant called tell me my compressor was shot and needed a new compressor for $900. I call Pete the owner of Capital Air who I have used for repairs and new Units at very good prices. I told Pete I needed a new compressor he said let me send a guy by and check it out. He found that the compressor was wired wrong and had it corrected and it is running fine! You will not fined a more honest company. He very well could have replaced the unit and charge me $900 but instead I was charged a nominal service call. I will never use anyone except Capital Air! Very refreshing to find honest people. When I thanked Pete personally for the honesty he simply said "that's what we do"

Great experience with them after our Carrier unit died. Eric the serviceman was informative and made the repairs quickly. Capital responded to my issue and worked fast to get us up and running. Far better than the competition in both price and service. You will be pleased.

Not even close! Beat three other Broward AC companies by nearly $2k for a new 5 ton unit.
Owner Pete will actually take calls and answer questions.
Save yourself time and money and call Capital first! -
I had an very bad overall experience with this company. When I first had them diagnose my home A/C they said it was low on freon and charged me for 1lb of freon for $120 without my prior authorization. I called back later (as they didn't contact me after the diagnoses service call) and asked if there was a leak as A/C systems are closed tight systems and shouldn't be loosing freon. They said no. Three days later, I had the same issue, and they tried to then say my coils are dirty. I asked, how did my system go from being fine to having dirty coils in three days? The service manager then got a nasty attitude with me and never answered my question. They then wanted to charge $400 to clean the coils or $500 to do a leak detection. I called another A/C company (AMI Air Conditioning) and they confirmed that my system shouldn't have lost any freon, and that there is more than likely a leak in my system. With AMI, they are willing to look for the leak or see if my coils are dirty for only $75 compared to Capital Air's $500. Capital Air is a giant scam. I would highly recommend to avoid this company.

Capital air installed my ac about 3 years ago, at that time they had the best price on a carrier and the service was great. I needed service now because I accidentally pierced the outside coil, Glenn came over, he was very knowledgeable and professional and fixed it in a jiffy. The ac is blowing like when it was new. Awesome:)

We spent $6000 on a new unit Feb 2018. We had a yearly service in January 2019. Between that time and now (Oct 2019), the unit has stopped working twice. The first time, the unit ended up working again after we had shut it off for a while. The second time, it never started working again. We called to have them come out. We expressed to them that the unit has been installed for 1 year and 8 months and we have had 2 issues and are concerned. We asked the owner to call us back, because we felt like this should be something that they come out and look at for free. He was extremely rude, and refused to send someone out to look at the unit unless we paid him $80. You could have done the right thing. They lost a customer today.

I have been a customer of Capital air for more than 10 years and always satisfied with their professionalism and customer service.
However, on this last service call due to my AC malfunction the service received by Technician Ken was outstanding. His determination and troubleshooting skills to get the unit to work were not only impressive but also very much appreciated during these challenging times where we spend more time at home. Although, I was his last call for the day, he put tremendous effort in fixing my unit regardless of the time and managed to get the unit to work again. It's employees such Ken that keep me loyal to Capital Air Conditioning. -
We bought 2 AC units from them 1.5 years ago. One of them dripped water on our ceiling, and it took them several service visits to determine that the unit was blowing the condensation off of the coils away from the drip pan, and the fan had to be turned down to avoid this. In the meantime, my ceiling had to be ripped open for over a month until they could diagnose and fix it properly, and it took lots of arguing that it was still dripping until they finally fixed it. But the worse problem is the other unit, which started making a knocking noise when it powered down, appears to be a failed actuator (Erie) valve. The owner, Pete, refused to repair it, and said he will no longer take my calls. I don't know how to respond to that. I was not rude or threatening or anything that would deserve such a response. He simply walked away from servicing the faulty units he sold us after we spent over $10K. My only recourse is to sue. I can't understand how they stay in business.

THE worst AC company out there . Not sure where to start . Rude people very unprofessionals, not accurate with diagnostics service person very unprofessional. I’ve been waiting close to a month now for them to finish the job and every time I call to ask the status I get the same answer “parts will be here 2 days next day we will come out and finish the job “ just made a call this morning and James who I spoke with on the phone again gave me the same run around and when I question him he hung up the phone . Save yourself the money and the headache and never use Capital Air . There’s s lot other options .

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY! Completely unprofessional. My wife caught the tech named Scott walking around our property unannounced, he claimed to have rang the doorbell twice and called. When my wife called the office to find out what was going on, The receptionist gave her an attitude and hung up. The tech ended up leaving the job with no explanation. The salesman James was friendly up front when my wife booked an appointment. But was totally short and rude when I called to try and figure out what had happened. Instead of offering resolution or trying to correct the issue he tried to blame us the customer for the problem. Save yourself the trouble and do not use this company. Wish I could give zero stars.

We been using Capital Air for the past 10 years and find them very thorough in their work and in value. I recommend them in a hard beat.

Provided reasonable basic service for our commercial unit for years, which only required the replacement of belts every couple of years with this company.
But, when we had a recurring problem, the technician was confused and said they will let us know how much it will cost to fix the problem, which we never received and made a temporary fix. The AC worked hard for a few days barely working and it gave out.
When we reached out to them, James claimed the motor cannot be replaced because no parts were made for the AC that was 12 years old. He claimed there is no other choice but to replace the whole unit, which required almost $15 grand. 😱
Out of desperation, we called another local company, who came the same day, evaluated the problem, quoted a fraction of the price, and took care of the “unfixable” problem over the WEEKEND. When the technician left, it was blowing at 56. It hasn’t done that in years. Amazing!!!🤩
I don’t like to leave bad reviews for local businesses, but after this stressful experience, we cannot recommend this company to fix your AC problems.
I recommend supporting companies that prefers the old school mentality of wanting to prolong and fix the problem rather add on to the toxicity and pollution that plagues our society caused by the consumerist ideology of just use and replace at the first sign of trouble because it’s easy and/or more profitable to do so. -
Completely unprofessional! We were quoted $405 for a motor replacement , paid the $90 service call fee and then the owner called and said it would be $850+
A tech came to install what we were told was a original manufacturer (carrier) motor and it was a universal motor that didn’t match the specs of our unit.
I called to talk to the owner and the receptionist was rude and laughed and then put the owner, Peter on. He said he had no interest in working with us and hung up the phone. There are SO many places to work with DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY on people that could care less about being honest or the customer experience. -
Used to be loyal customer of this company but got so sick of the smart remarks & attitude from James over the phone . GLADLY taking my business elsewhere. Unprofessional & disrespectful.
