Due to Hurricane Milton that stormed thru Florida on Oct. 10 in the early morning hours, my thermostat went off. On the next day I called Service Star A/C about 5 minutes before closing. In less than 10 minutes they returned my call. Donny, pleasantly was able to walk me thru in getting my thermostat to read again.
    Thank you again.

They replaced the capacitor in the outside unit of my HVAC for $430. It burned again in 25 days, called them, they refused to replace it and claimed something bad on my system with false evidences (a photo of my airhandler outlook, nothing wrong). I wrote a review here and they responded by posting my personal info to retaliate; telling a false story; and claimed us as foreigners.

It is very bad to feel that this shop discriminate foreigner, refuse to carry warranty services, and treat their customers as idiots. We are local residents in florida. They should refund the money.

Latest Update: I replaced the capacitor with the right values ($20 dollars) and it has been running since then without any issue.

latest update, we complaint on BBB. The owner of this business totally ignored the request from BBB. They refuse to resolve the issue and totally blame faulty on the client. They also post the clients private info publically here, which is already breach the consumer law on privacy. Will keep fighting our consumer right here.

The business owner already broke "Florida Digital Bill of Rights (FDBR)" twice. Next time, I will have my lawyer to directly file a case. They are lawless people.

Our AC unit on our rental was having problems freezing up. I called Service Star AC and they were able to come out the same day to inspect the unit. They said that they could replace the AC the next day starting at 9:00am. They were there by 8:30am and around 3:00 they were done. I really appreciate them coming out so quick and getting the job done right away.
I have also used their services for yearly maintenance on my unit they are very responsibly priced.
Thank you for your great service

They were quick to arrive after I made the appointment. They presented me with a short term fix that I could use while getting my money together for the long term fix. Very professional and knowledgeable about the field.

We had an issue with our AC at 9 pm at night. Donny called within 15 min and talked myself and my mother through the issue. He also gave us tips for continuing maintenance. Because of him our AC is working again. I would highly recommend service star if your looking for someone reliable, knowledgeable and efficient.

Received a flyer in the mail that it was time to get HVAC system serviced. I recently bought this home, so I thought it was a good idea. Upon inspection, the technician discovered that an ignitor was out on, which he showed me. He said it would run me THOUSANDS of dollars to re-place the ignitor, and since my AC unit was a 2015 model (which means it's 9 years old), I should replace the entire unit and then upsold me on a 12,000 new HVAC system. I'll add that I am a single woman who lives in a 55+ gated community, and I guess I looked like a sucker, lol. I can't do business with a company this untrustworthy.

UPDATE WITH RESPONSE TO OWNER: I am a new owner of this home, and was never told about previous inspections or suggestions. With that being said, it's absolutely ridiculous that you would justify giving me erroneous information on the replacement of a single ignitor. I did not schedule service because my system was malfunctioning. I scheduled the service because I am a new owner of the home and did it as pure maintenance. I am grateful that the tech found an issue before I turned on the heat, however that does not change the fact that your tech told me I needed to replace my whole HVAC system and quickly because AC units were getting scarce because of the hurricane. If he had been more honest, I would have been more than happy to have him replace the ignitor, which is what he should have offered to do instead of disregarding that completely and upselling me on a whole AC unit. Even the gas company thought the outcome of the service was ridiculous. My AC unit is not even 10 years old! And it doesn't need complete replacement just because the warranty is expired. AND, if it does, I'd have to go with a more reputable company that I can trust to not give me egregious, erroneous information just to make a sale. Shame on you for even for even trying to justify that! Even your comparison to a 9-year-old car with 100,000 miles on it is crazy - like comparing apples to oranges. I don't NEED a car like I NEED a properly working HVAC system in Florida.

Came home to a hot house on a hot day and called service star, they were able to come out within a few hrs and get the system back up and running quick. Having a 3mon old baby at the house and no ac is not a good combination. Thank for for the quick and honest work!

A tech from another company told us that our A/C unit was not cooling efficiently, suspected leaking refrigerant and recommended a $250 leak check, potentially followed by thousands of dollars to replace the coil. Donnie from Service Star took one look at the unit and diagnosed it with a dirty air intake that just needed a tough cleaning. Definitely impressed with his honesty and willingness to solve the problem without trying to upsell us on hundreds of dollars of unnecessary work. I'll definitely be contacting Service Star for any future A/C issues.

I hope that one person finds this review helpful in your selection process of an AC company because how a company appropriately handles a customer’s concerns should never be overlooked! I called Service Star in an emergency as my home was above 80 degrees in the evening. They informed me my almost 20 year old Lennox HVAC unit had finally become inoperable. The price to get a new HVAC unit, Rheem, would be $8800, which I thought was pretty steep but didn’t do my due diligence and get another AC service company to see if they could beat their price. It was more so the house was hot and needed a replacement ASAP. They installed the unit and within a week that unit stopped working. I called them back and the technician tells me he doesn’t know how it happened but my copper pipe underground has a hole. They quoted me $2750 to fix it. I was so devastated, but this time I called a different AC Service company to do their own diagnostics. That company waived their diagnostic fee due to the circumstance. They agreed the copper pipe had a hole which they thought was strange due to the unit being newly installed. Their price beat Service Star and they were even surprised Service Star didn’t even offer a discount to replace the copper pipe. Because of their low price and great customer service I went with them. The duo comes and install the copper pipe but also informs me the HVAC unit has tons of moisture which is concerning. That team spent an extra four hours removing as much moisture as they could from the unit. They literally have a candid conversation with me that I needed to call Service Star about the unit having too much moisture. Even if it worked that day it may fail quickly down the road. I get on the phone with Service Star and both companies talk to each other about what was done and what is currently the issue with the unit. Service Star realizes the newly install HVAC unit was inoperable and they would be out $5k for a new one to be installed. As the customer, I had to split the difference of their loss and pay an extra $2500 for them to come back to install a new HVAC unit. The other AC company was flabbergasted I had to pay anything for the new unit install, even questioning why Service Star isn’t taking the full loss and paying for it themselves? They said next time go with their company as this wouldn’t have been the outcome. To the reader, the grand total for the new HVAC: $8800 + $2500 = $11,300! Service Star wouldn’t budge any further. To add to the frustration, they instructed me to change my electrical panel from 30 amps to 35 amps to accommodate the unit per the “new” requirement standards before the Inspector comes out. I paid an electrician to make the change ($200). The inspector arrives and checks the electrical panel and inside unit and says “you got to be kidding?” He double checks the panel and inside unit again and then the outside unit and proceeds to tell me the panel was incorrect. The inspector said he will let Silver Star know. A few business days later and Silver Stars is SILENT! I call them myself to discuss why the inspector failed me and was put on hold then I didn’t hear from anyone. I finally get a call the next day from the owner and it was the most gaslighting I’ve had to endure. In the end they sent me a check for $200 for me to call back the electrician to change the amps back to the original. Because of this experience, I’m unable to recommend this company.

Absolutely phenomenal service from Service Star Air Conditioning and Heating! I've been a loyal customer since 2017, and once again, Cathy and her team went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction.

Cathy's dedication knows no bounds. When I came home at 6 pm to find my AC not working, I called Service Star, and Cathy personally made sure that a technician was dispatched to my home, even late at night. Her commitment to customer care is unmatched.

DJ, the technician who came to my rescue, was simply amazing. He was incredibly patient, answering all my questions and providing valuable suggestions to keep my AC in top working condition. His expertise and professionalism were evident from the moment he arrived.

I cannot recommend Service Star Air Conditioning and Heating highly enough. Cathy and DJ exemplify exceptional service and dedication to their customers. Thank you both for your outstanding support and for always going the extra mile!

I have used Service Star Air Conditioning and Heating for several years. When I bought my house, I got a flyer for an A/C check, which I figured was needed. As with several other reviews have mentioned, they said my system was too old, and couldn't guarantee that they could recharge it and it could damage the system. They recommended buying a new one, which I agreed to.

Within a year, I developed a leak in my refrigerant line, which several other reviewers have mentioned, and Service Star said it had nothing to do with the system, that it was a coincidence. Ok, I guess that was fine. $2000 repair.

In June of this year, my A/C stopped working with an locked inverter. I called Service Star, they sent a tech over, who diagnosed the blower, board and chip were bad and said the charge would be $1200. However they can't find the parts, and don't know when they will be able to... I thought that was an unreasonable price, as well as wait time, so I decided to get a second opinion. I called another service, who tested my blower, and found it working. He diagnosed that the problem was on the condenser, and repaired it for half the price.

I won't be using Service Star again.

This was the best customer service experience that I have ever had! Cathy responded to my request immediately and provided multiple methods via text to troubleshoot my issue until it was fixed. She gave me easy to understand directions, information regarding the warranty on my model, and probably saved me a ton of money in the long run. My family did not have to sleep in the heat last night! I really can't thank her enough!

Great response time from call to visit. They did the tune ups on both of my AC units and assessed one for further work. Will possibly be replacing a unit in the near future with them for sure. Good stuff.

This company is truly INCREDIBLE! I’ve always had tough luck finding a business I trust to handle my unit. I fired the last company because they had no idea what they were doing and just replacing parts without proper diagnosis.

Service Star came out to perform some overdue maintenance as well as inform me on some preventative maintenance to help prolong the life of my unit. Spoke to me professionally, as well as breaking down technical terms to help me understand and not feel lost in an explanation. Informed me how to perform general maintenance to the drain to help me not have anymore overdue maintenance that could cause problems / premature failure.

The work ethic and customer service are absolutely top notch! Definitely feel more comfortable with this company and will be using them for any of my AC needs! 10/10 recommend!

Sept 16, 2017 - Great Service!!! Thank you to Louis R. and his team for excellent service !!! And only days after HURRICANE IRMA

After getting our power restored to our home in Cocoa Beach Florida , our older 14 seer AC unit compressor failed. I assumed it would take days, if not weeks, to find a company who could get us a replacement. My first call was in the late afternoon to Service Star, Orlando. To my surprise I was told they could arrive the next morning! Wow! Thanks!!
Louis arrived around 10am. We discussed the options for replacement. He gave us detailed info to help us pick the unit we were comfortable with. We choose to replace with an equal level. The Price was very good and reasonable. (I had talked to my neighbors earlier about prices since they recently got a new AC) His team arrived about 2 hours later and worked 4-5 hours. They left the work space clean and in excellent condition. They kindly explained how to use the new system. I would call Louis R. and Service Star again. Thank you Louis.

6/18/24. I purchased an A/C system for my small home at a cost $8000 from Service Star and after 1 year and a few weeks it stopped running and froze up. I called for a service call and was told that it would cost $50 for a service call and would get up to 1lb of Freon. After the tech arrived I was told I would also incur a charge of $85 for them to turn on my heater and him to stand here and wait until the ice to melt in addition to the $50 service fee. The Manufacturer warranty is 10 years on parts only. The owner whom I spoke with named Donnie was very rude and would not extend the courtesy of waving the ice melt fee a few weeks out of standard warranty even though I’ve been a customer for 8 years with them in my other condo. I am a senior on SS. He would not work with me in any way. I plan on spreading the news of his poor customer service to all my friends and neighbors. I definitely would not recommend Service Star Air Conditioning & Heating. Judi U,

David our technician was amazing! The most genuine person I’ve met in a long time. He deserves a raise a bonus because it’s so hard to come across genuine people these days that care for others. Great and effective job!

We called Service Star at 6:30pm fully expecting to wait a day or two for service. Donnie showed up an hour later and had us sorted out within ten minutes. It was our third experience with Service Star and it’s great service every time.

Made an appointment over a gasket leak, and Donnie and his tech were able to come out quickly and get it fixed and better than ever. Always appreciate their attention to detail and willing to explain the issue to me and how to avoid it in the future. #lifetimecustomer

Been a Service Star customer since 2017 when they replaced our entire system. Since then we’ve had a number of urgent trouble calls, and they’re always prompt and in good spirts! Happened again this evening. Noticed the A/C not working at 8 PM, and it was fixed by 8:45! Nothing but great things to say about this company!
