Protocool has been maintaining our home’s air conditioning unit for many years. When we finally needed a new system, they gave us a very fair estimate and did the installation soon after we accepted. The crew was professional and highly competent. Like anything new, it needed a few adjustments, so Protocool sent a technician and even the owner, Chris, stopped by to make sure we were completely pleased. I highly recommend Protocool for air conditioning sales and service.

We had a major issue with our old air conditioning unit and we had called PROTOCOOL and had spoken with Chris Pompilio who gave me some ideas over the phone about possible issues and I decided to make an appointment. Chris came to the appointment as scheduled and he was very professional and honest as we had dealt with other companies prior. After Chris analyzed what our problem was he went over the best options to reconcile the issues. After going over everything including the prices my wife and I decided to proceed with having the work done. Chris and his team again came as scheduled and got the job done in a clean and timely matter. It was so nice to finally deal with a company that was professional, competitively priced, and for most honest.
Thankyou Chris and the PROTOCOOL team for keeping us cool -
Definitely worthy of the 5 Star rating in the Broward Top Picks record! Dan the Service Technician was extremely prompt, very polite and professional. He quickly determined the problem and fixed it fast! Even those in the office over the phone were so helpful and kind. I will be using Protocool for all my A/C needs in the future and making recommendations to all my family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful first experience with your company!

I shopped around for several companies trying to get the best buy for my money. I found Protocool Cooling Solutions to have been well worth the money. Chris was an exceptional salesman who answered & educated me on every aspect of the installation. The technicians were extremely professional and courteous and went the extra mile. I paid more but it was well worth the piece of mind that the job was done right! I give this company *****5 Stars across the board*****

A few years back, I had my AC unit serviced by Protocool and when my unit stopped working again, I thought they'd provide good service again, right? Nope. I called late-June in Florida. I have tenants in my loft literally dying of heat. A technician went out and notified me that my unit was beyond repair and I needed a new one. I'm not sure if this company has developed an allergy to money or what, but after 4 phone calls asking for a quote, a woman apologizing for not getting back to me and assuring me I would have a quote emailed to me - Almost 2 weeks later and I have no quote, no correspondence. Take your money somewhere else, these people don't want it. I called one last time today to let them know I would be writing this review - again the same woman who took my email twice previously was very ready to take it again to "send me a quote". Too little too late, people.
Oh, and PS: A neighbor of mine did in fact get a quote for a new unit and it was 2k higher than another local company. FYI -
I called Protocool to service my 2 year old Trane unit that was not blowing property. They determined the fan motor was faulty and needed to replace it. They agreed that the part was under warranty, but the labor to install it was not. Total labor charge: $680. Total time to replace motor: less than one hour. Needless to say I was not happy. I asked to see if they could do anything regarding the charges. They said no. That was their standard charge. I am now disappointed I hired them to do my initial install, which at that time went very well. Their service techs are very nice, but their pricing on service was rediculous.

After contacting Lowes protocol subcontracted my air conditioning work. I found them to be and outstanding company. They were able to temporarily repair my air conditioner pending receipt of my new system that they installed. The Workman were excellent. I am very satisfied with this air conditioning company and would recommend them to anyone in need. Professional, experts, and great customer service.

We have used Protocool for several repairs and purchased multiple new units for both our business and residential. They have always given fair pricing, and fantastic service. Everyone is very professional from the front office to the back office, and the techs are always on time and very informative on options for repairs or replacements. I highly recommend them!

The technician who was dispatched to our home to service our air-conditioner was very courteous, prompt and very tentative to what was going on. Unfortunately, the situation was a bit more than he had been trained for so we have to have a second technician come to complete the task. I explained on the initial call when we made the appointment that I already had another air conditioning company come in and paid them $200 without a resolution to my problem and I did not want to continue to throw money at this issue and would like to have it fixed the first time. Hopefully, when the second technician comes out it will be fixed and I won't be charged another service fee for the visit, unless parts or extent of work need to be done.

Don’t waste your time and money with this company. My mother had a brand new ac installed 3 years ago in her condo. Indoor and outdoor units. 3 years later because her ac is not turning on at all, we find out they incorrectly did the installation without access to a drainage pipe. So here we are, only 3 years later having to PAY THEM to do what they should have done the first time around. We have yet to find out why the ac won’t crank at all though…..

Pros: The company is very responsive.
Cons: Charges ridiculous prices. A Capacitor went out on my AC unit, $12.00 to $35.00 everywhere, questioned them about it and was told its the cost to have it on the truck. They charged me a total of $480.00 for the part and the 6 minute installation, which includes $135.00 diagnostic to see what is wrong with unit. All other companies waive this fee if you hire them to do the work. I called 4 other AC companies and was quoted $170.00 for the part and installation complete. I will be looking for another company that offers a greater value to the customer. This company does not work with the consumer. Sure feel ripped off now. -
I’ve used PROTOCOOL for years and they are the best of all the other companies that I’ve dealt with. Several years ago I owned a large home with two A/C units. If I ever had a problem, PROTOCOOL was at my home within hours to fix the problem. Now that I’m in a condo, I still use PROTOCOOL for service. During our last hurricane, a tree fell on my A/C unit crushing it. Chris was at my home within hours with a new unit and I had A/C restored within two hours. Two days later, the HOA’s service rep showed up and wondered where my top of the line unit came from. (They use cheap units here). Since the new installation, my electric bills have gone down and it’s very comfortable here when set to 78 degrees. Fantastic company and service.

Excellent service….tech arrived on time…was called to advise when Rey would arrive….very knowledgeable ….took care of problem

Protocool did an incredible job with my AC maintenance. I can breathe so much better now. It is obvious that the other company I had been using was NOT cleaning the drip pan properly. And I ended up paying the price by experiencing nasty allergy issues. SO glad I called Protocool! I signed up for the service package and get system maintenance twice a year. Dan was professional and friendly and paid close attention to the details. Great job!

Tech was professional. Every detail of the service was explained in advance and every detail was completed to my satisfaction. The evaporation coil that was leaking had been installed only 7 months and was still under warranty both for the part and the labor. When I contacted the company the day after service, they said that the part had been ordered and it would be a couple of days before delivery. I called back each day and was told that it was ordered from out-of state and it would be a week for delivery. The part arrived and was professionally installed but my labor warranty expires next month and I was told that if the new coil goes bad, the cost of labor will be mine. So, even if this lasts only another 7months, I will have the cost of labor to replacement. They should at least offer a one year labor warranty on the new part.

I am beyond grateful and impressed by the level of professionalism and how quick they responded to my AC needs. My AC stopped cooling and within 2 hours they were at my house taking care of my issue at a very reasonable project cost. I highly recommend Protocool to anyone and everyone! Keep up the great work ethics Protocool team !

Protocool are hands down the best a/c people I have ever dealt with. I am so glad (and relieved) that I found them through highly recommended reviews and suggestions to me on Next Door App. I was very skeptical as I’ve had been treated poorly and ripped off by a previous a/c contractor taking advantage of me since 2016. After talking with Chris (owner) to their office staff, Lori, Jasmine and Monica, to my first two technicians Dan and Justin..I just knew I was in good hands. Everyone is so professional, courteous and most importantly to me, honest and upfront with issues and prices. There are no surprise charges and won’t do anything without your understanding and approval. Technicians are even considerate when they work in your home trying to keep things neat as possible or clean up after themselves. Oh and they are very reliable and prompt !!! So important here in South Florida :-)

Definitely worthy of the 5 Star rating in the Broward Best Picks Reports! Alex the Service Technician was extremely prompt, super polite and professional. The office personnel were also so kind and helpful in setting up the appointment and completing the ticket. I will be using Protocool for all our A/C servicing needs from here on! Thank you so much for a great experience!

I called for an AC repair job at 2:30 pm during regular hours. They quoted me $135 after hours service call price because it took the guy two hours to reach my house so they tell me its it’s after hours. I still paid for the service call. Ray the technician did the diagnostics and said we need to replace the Electrolytic Condenser. This part is $18.85 see photo and they wanted to charge $520. A total rip off company. What a shame.
Save your money and call someone else. -
Pretty much an immediate response to a Sunday call for service when our AC compressor failed to come on. With 90s outside, it stated heating through the morning until I noticed the temp was well over the set point. Not happy with our previous service, I recalled our former neighbors had an AC dealer relative. They sent phone number for ProtocoolAC and called right away. Quick response by receptionist got me to the tech scheduler within a few minutes. She said once tech finished his prior job he would be here next - in about 30 min he was at the gate. Quickly found problem was capacitor starter for compressor was fried. He showed me that previous repair used an inferior part. He installed a new US made capacitor and checked out the full system just to be certain nothing else was in trouble. All checked out and unit has been back up and running well. Considering it’s a Sunday on a holiday weekend, we were thrilled to get such prompt service.

I've used Protocool for my last (3) service calls. The first (2) visits were ok, with a few minor things. The first technician forgot to plug back in a sensor on the compressor, resulting in the second visit due to overheating, but the (3rd) visit was the final straw. My Lennox is 10-years old (it came with the house - I've been here 2 years). Over the weekend, the system randomly shut down/came on intermittently, but would not stay running. The technician did not open the unit or test anything, he wrote in the report, "needs cleaning/flow switch trip." Well, funny thing, Protocool said the same thing on the first visit back in March 2024 and that's what they did - cleaned everything. This tech was not convinced until I took off the front panel myself. I showed him the refrigerant was still running through the lines and the compressor + fan in the condensing unit were still running. Then he did some testing on the thermostat and control board in the unit. He deduced it was not the unit cleaning/flow switch but rather the blower motor that had failed due to age. He never checked the expansion valve, never checked the refrigerant pressure on the system, never tested the capacitor, or even opened the condensing unit outside. After 3 hours (on Sunday), I had enough. I would figure it out on Monday with their office. Well, that was the worst part, I was sent an email with a lump sum proposed amount of $2,100 to replace the blower motor. I tried to inquire about the amount to understand how they got to the number, but the explanation was "It is, what it is.. that is what the national rates are to replace a blower motor." Not sure in what region, but that is asinine!
The blower motor housing is held in place by 3 screws and attaches to the blower wheel with one screw! The Lennox 1-hp motor is $500-$750 max! My message to other customers, get to know your system and go to another HVAC company. I am going to do this work myself this time around, but in the next year or so when I am looking for an entirely new system, I will be going elsewhere.
*IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER:
I only took the front panel off after he wrote up the report that the unit needed cleaning and was getting in his van to leave. I did not trust that analysis, and I tried talking it through with him first, but he was certain it was the cleaning/flow switch (WRONG! I WOULD STILL BE WITHOUT A/C AFTER I WOULD HAVE PAID FOR AN UNCESSARY CLEANING). I, like many, do not have the time to risk fixing everything myself. I want to be served at a high level for the right price, not gouged.
