Plumbing reviews in Tampa, Florida

Ethan was on time, introduced himself and made sure he understood what we needed fixed. He was friendly and professional and really seemed to care that we were happy with the service call. He also did a safety check of our electrical system before he left.

Extremely happy with frank gays plumbing services for a toilet replacement. Unfortunately, sorry to the tech I forgot the his name but he was so polite. Very efficient and cleaned up everything. I highly recommend them

Our overall experience with Frank Gay Services was Awesome.
Dominic our electrician was Fantastic...the best of the best.

Worst Company Ever!!! I call Frank Gay and was given a price to clean my 2 Inside AC coils. 1 in the attic and 1 in a closet downstairs. The price was $129 total. After speaking with them and I was wondering why it was a different name than Frank Gay they explained that they were sister partners. I took off of work today because they were supposed to be at my house between 8-10 AM! They sent me a message saying they were backed up and couldn’t make it until tomorrow. Obviously I was mad because I took off of work all day. I complained and they sent out a technician that showed up around 4:30 today to give me a quote of $2000+ dollars even though I was told it was $129 total
I spoke to management and they listened to my recorded phone call and said I was completely right and that they would make it right for me about the $129 quote!!
After all that the $2000 plus dollars never changed……..
What a SCAM -
I initially gave 5 stars because the technician did a great job and the service was quick. However, I removed a star because they left promotional stickers on both of my units. The stickers say ‘this may be under warranty,’ which is misleading since they only replaced a fuse and didn’t install or replace any major components. Plus, the stickers are difficult to remove.

Just had Jamie and Harold out for a major repair on my ac great team very good quality work and very knowledgeable which got ot done quickly. Very happy. Runs better than ever. Seriously great work. Thanks Jamie and Harold.

Everett holt was fantastic. Very polite, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately he wasn't able to fix the problem because Frank gay is not licensed to work irrigation and he determined that the leak came from the irrigation line, but because of that he walked me through what my next steps were to fix it and did not charge me for the service visit. Would absolutely call him again for future work!

Audley came on Labor Day weekend to deal with our emergency so that the party could rock all weekend! Professional, fast and really cool cats!

Terrible experience. They came to repipe our house two months ago, and the walls are still destroyed and they haven't passed an inspection. They never failed to return our calls, and if they do, they have no answers. We have a little girl who has open walls in her room to the attic. We call every day and feel like they're hiding something from us. No one has any idea why they won't finish the work. This isn't the last review ; expect more of this nightmare history 😩 today 08/26/2025 two months waiting .

Hector did a great job installing our wall oven! He was thorough, careful and clearly cared about doing a good job. Frank Gay comes through for us again.

I just had Kelvin and Willie come out and do a demo in a bathroom. It was a big project. They were so respectful of the property and covered everything in plastic. They were so careful and they really did an awesome job with the demo. They answered our questions. Then they did an amazing job cleaning up after they were done.. They even vacuumed after themselves. It was a job very well done and appreciated.😊

I don’t typically leave negative reviews and prefer to highlight positive experiences, but I feel compelled to share our recent interaction with Frank Gay Commercial.
Our tenant in a Florida-based commercial property reported that the AC unit wasn't cooling properly. Since we’re out of state, she coordinated directly with Frank Gay Commercial. A technician came out, performed maintenance (for which we were charged $1,010), and provided an estimate of $1,220 for a potential follow-up service: an Electronic Leak Detection with Micro Leak Solution. This follow-up was to be done only if necessary.
When the technician returned, he determined the additional service wasn’t needed because the system was maintaining the correct temperature. Despite that, we were charged the full $1,220 for the estimated work that was never performed.
Both our tenant (who spoke directly with the technician) and I made multiple attempts—via phone calls and emails—to get this corrected, but we received no response. After over a month of follow-ups, I finally reached someone who said the issue was still pending review.
Very disappointing experience. Communication has been lacking, and we are still awaiting resolution for being charged for work that wasn’t done. -
Response when there is an issue is very poor. When it came time to get their money they were great afterwards they could care less. Would not recommend using them.

I would like to say thank you to Matt Warner for coming out and doing an awesome job changed out a shower manifold. He’s an excellent worker and has a great work ethic and we really appreciate the work that he has done for us.

Do not leave a deposit unless you are sure you are going to be using their services. It has been a month and still have not received my deposit back. They told me refund was approved on 2/9 but still have not mailed me a check. When i call i get told the accounting department will call me back but have not received a call back.

I had a mixed experience with this company. Their first technician was great and was instrumental in our having them replace our electrical panel. Because of the circumstances, I was unable to get additional quotes for the work being done and just went with them. I assume we got a competitive price however I cannot attest to that.
Anyway, the second technician that actually changed out the panel seemed competent and the work was done in a timely manner and for all appearances looks good. I was unable to be here when the work was done so all I get to see is the finished product.
So, later in the afternoon I arrive back at my condo, and I hear someone SCREAMING at the top of their lungs. Seriously, it was loud. I look over at an additional parking area (300 feet or more away) and see their van and the technician standing outside it, bent over and SCREAMING at his phone. I cautiously approached and interrupted him, telling him he needed to take his problem somewhere else. After ending the call he finished up the job and left.
Not a good look for the company, their truck in the parking lot and their employee screaming at someone right beside it. There was an outdoor condo board meeting going on at the same time some 300 yards away and I'm sure they heard him. After this, I'm sure anyone here would have second thoughts about using this company. -
If I could give zero stars I would. My family has been living through an absolute nightmare after hiring Frank Gay Services (Lakeland office) for a whole-house repipe and bathroom remodel that started late October now still unfinished December 2025. What was supposed to be a routine job has turned into tens of thousands of dollars in damage, lies from management, and a home that is still not fully functional or safe. Frank Gay has refused to offer any reasonable resolution and now completely backing out of responsibility.
Here are just some of the major issues their crews left behind over the course of the job:
Exterior
• Corroded copper pipe left in the yard; our dogs got to it and scattered pieces everywhere.
Laundry Room / Guest Bathroom
• Brand-new vanity installed with an extra hole cut too high– tech said “just cover it with the toilet paper holder”
• Broken vanity door on a brand-new vanity
• Vanity leaked immediately after install, flooding the laundry room
• Pipes left completely exposed (new plumber said they could and should have been hidden)
• Vanity installed blocking the doorway (new plumber showed multiple ways it could have been flush against the wall)
Kitchen
• Fridge and dishwasher water lines cut for no reason
• Kitchen vent pipe left 2 inches outside the studs, uninsulated and unsealed – forced us to lose cabinet space with an unwanted build-out
• Hot water to kitchen sink still not reconnected
Promised a garbage disposal that I don’t have.
Left side of sink has no piping still
Living Room & Bedroom
• Random cuts in terrazzo floors
• Large gashes and unnecessary holes in walls – outlined in Sharpie to be repaired, then just patched over (Sharpie still visible)
• Crew knocked over a jar containing our recently deceased cat’s fur – glass and fur scattered across bedroom floor no remarked made.
Master Bathroom (the worst of it)
• No caulk around shower or toilet
• Shower installed covering a window without disclosure; not up to code
• Wrong pipes used – new plumber had to rip everything out and replace with correct copper
• Shower pan improperly installed over uneven concrete; leaked immediately
• No pressure test or inspection ever performed (they falsely claimed it “passed with flying colors”)
• On the reinstall day, Frank Gay tech showed up, said measurements were off, the pan was too big, he didn’t have materials, and left – after the old shower had already been demolished
Drywall & Scheduling Chaos
• Drywall crew had no idea of the scope, left at 2 p.m. saying they had a long drive home
• Multiple no-shows, double-booked technicians, and excuses (including being told on Veterans Day that “no one is working”)
• Project manager had no knowledge of our job and asked “How did you even get this number?” when we finally reached him
• Promises made by coordinator “Sarah” were repeatedly broken. She told me work “ was not that bad “
They had to hire an entirely new plumbing company and multiple other contractors to fix Frank Gay’s work. The new plumber has been shocked at the number of code violations and shortcuts taken.
We have photos, videos, texts, and invoices, documenting everything. Frank Gay has stopped responding to us entirely not and will not offer anything beyond a small partial refund that doesn’t even cover a fraction of the damages and delays we’ve gone through. I was told they could not take any money off the job but would offer a water softener and major electrical/hvac work. They’re best and final offer was To do electrical work that I don’t need, and that they claim would be up to $10,000 to change outlets and add light dimmers.
My family has been without a proper working master shower for weeks, living in construction dust and danger. We simply want the public to know what happened so no one else has to go through this. We just want this exposed so no one has to deal with this company.
I attached a few photos over the course of the process of multiple lies and failures.$40,000 and the mess they left behind is unfathomable. Do not use them. -
After reaching out to several companies regarding my AC, I came across “Red Cap” and it was by far the best decision I’ve made. The tech (Joshua Richardson) came out “ON TIME” and literally had me up and running within an hour. Just wanted to show appreciation and say thanks again….. I’ll definitely recommend this company to friends and family

I wanted to share my experience with one of your superior employees by the name of Mike Kelly who made service call to my home to investigate electrical issue on my main breaker panel in my garage his expertise and knowledge In diagnosing ability was above anyone I’ve ever dealt with as far as a service technician with HVAC /Electrical furthermore, he even went the extra mile to help guide me in submitting a Choice Home Warranty claim . I am requesting that Red Cap recognize Mike Kelly for his superior customer service and knowledge of HVAC/electrical. Five star service. Mike Kelly really deserves 10 star for customer service!!!!

I'm leaving this review solely because of the technician Brandon. He is phenomenal! Professional, friendly and informative. He has serviced our unit twice now and has been very thorough each time. I will be sure to request that they send him out if I need future services.
