Appliance Repair reviews in Chicago, Illinois

Jay was fantastic! During the initial consultation, he identified the issue within minutes of opening the appliance, quickly ordered the necessary parts, processed the payment and was on his way. When he returned to complete the service project, he arrived as scheduled, quickly repaired the appliance, ensured all areas impacted were spotless and then almost as quickly as the first time, he was headed out the door. While I wouldn't recommend Sears Home Repair company to anyone with a choice (which I didn't have), I highly recommend Jay!

The technician was knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient and completed the repair satisfactorily. This is consistent with my past experience with Sears Home Service technicians. On the other hand, I had to deal with multiple earlier appointments that were canceled, numerous phone calls and chat sessions to deal with those, and an as-yet unexplained discrepancy between the original estimate and the final cost. It seems like the various systems used to schedule the appointments don’t communicate well, or there is not enough staff, or there is a failure of management, or some combination of these.

The 2 techs fixed my dryer and very knowledgeable about the issue. I would 100% use them again!

Francisco was fabulous. He has a wonderful personality and explained everything. He did a great job.

5 stars for the people I was able to actually meet and speak with. My technician was Horace, and he was great. Very nice and patient with all my questions. Identified the source of the problem and fixed it immediately. I spoke with two representatives on the phone, one before the visit to discuss the problem, and one after many tries after my first visit had to be reschedule. They were both very nice and did what they could to help me.
1 star for the Sears interface, scheduling, website, chatbot, and AI. I got redundant and unnecessary texts and emails every day, multiple times, leading up to my appointments. The web chat has very few capabilities and is only AI. The webpage where I was supposed to get updates about technician arrival time was comically incorrect. There is a 'map' that was clearly just a photo of a map and never changed. On the first scheduled day, my scheduled appointment time was 8am-12pm. By 6:30pm, I rescheduled because I had to leave. There only way to do this was online or by talking to an AI. After a lot of digging I was able to get a number to a real person who was very nice and 'escalated' my case for the rescheduled date. They gave me a number to call if I had any issues. It was the same AI/phone tree number.
Although the actual humans I was able to connect with were helpful and effective, I will not use Sears again due to the very poor user experience. -
After more than a month of techs coming and not being able to fix the machines, we purchased 2 new Speed Queen washers
Francisco was instructed to removed the transmission and agitator that was ordered and the techs were unable to disassemble the machine to install new parts -
Outstanding service on a ridiculous (as in grossly complex due to horrific design by Whirlpool) washer repair. Great expertise.

The technician said we need a replacement part but they are no longer available for our model of dishwasher. He charged us $129 for the visit. He said we don't have a Sears Appliance Plan. It costs $69 per month. It would pay for his visit and also would pay for replacing the dishwasher. If this is true then what are we paying Sears for?

First, he only showed up after two full days of the service being scheduled and being pushed back every hour, but no one ever coming. Then, he investigate the machine and concluded that nothing was wrong. But the next day, the problem is still there and a new problem had been created.

Made appointment for dryer repair. Never contacted day of appointment and no technician ever showed up to scheduled time frame. Customer service is a joke and you can’t talk to an actual person, just a recording and the menu leads to nowhere for help.
Update 24 hours later —
Sears commented here to reach out to their customer service number. Again attempted number provided and still unable to speak with an actual person, leading to nowhere. -
The tech was outstanding. Explained what was wrong and what parts he needed to replace. Ken was great and very pleasant to have in my home and repair my refrigerator.
Meaning he was very neat and had all the tools with him for the repair.
Thank you. -
The Technician was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, experienced and treated my family and I as clients. And for that we are appreciative and grateful. This Technician, I will recommend he become the face and an ambassador of this entity. I hope he is made to train up and coming technicians. The heater is working wonderful.

Repair person Juan was wonderful. Apologized for late arrival because of traffic. Figures out the problem and FIXED it. Fully working now. Didn’t try to sell me anything but what he had to do to fix my dishwasher. Piece of glass in the pump. Took him awhile but he got it out. Good experience. Would recommend him anytime. Your update system is much better but it would be nice if at some point one could speak to a HUMAN. customer Service. But Juan was great.

Sears (Sears home services) whole house appliance coverage is a good deal and I've used it twice now. They don't sub contract repairs anymore which I like. I've had to rely on a stove being replaced and a furnace being repaired. (I had to wait well over a month for the stove repair cause parts couldn't be found. Eventually they replaced the stove with an equally compatible one.) For the wait on the stove being my reason for not giving them 5 stars and also cause I couldn't interact with a real person to set up the appointments. Their system is all A.I. now. I have whole house insurance for 99$ a month which has a 100$ deductible per/incidence. Overall I've been covered for over 2 years now and recommend SHS. They have a lesser plan for 60$ a month that only includes mainstay appliances, excludes HVAC electrical and water pipes.

It took five visits to get to the bottom of the problem with our oven. This was not Abdul's fault (he gets five stars), he was the final one and did a great job... was very helpful throughout the day and though it was frustrating to have to go to Home Depot to buy a new part and gas tape, he was available on the phone to help me get the right stuff. Although the other service people were kind and respectful, some seemed untrained and needed support through colleagues on the phone and in person. The first person assigned to us never showed, then the booker got mad at me saying I wasn't there. The second person who did show explained that that first person didn't show up to work so put it in as us not being here. At least he was honest with me. It took five visits to get it right and so we were without an oven for a month. I would not in good faith be able to recommend this company. I went with them due to the formerly respected Sears name.
