Zero customer loyalty. I bought a plant for 15 dollars without enough soil. When I went back and asked if they could put more in they said it would cost me 12 dollars. When I said I wouldn’t pay 12 dollars for a handful of dirt they said it was “labour costs”. What an absolute joke.

I just called to try and order a couple of plants for pick up. I started the call by asking if it was possible to order over the phone to limit in person interactions and was told yes. I asked for Impatiens and the woman on the phone tersly responded that she only had limited colors. I asked which colors and she said "Orange". it was a somewhat odd interaction and seemed like she was annoyed that I asked. I followed up to ask about the size of the planter container. The next question I asked was if they had Million Bells, and she audibly huphed and said " you know what, this isn't going to work, I can't take your order over the phone I have other stuff to do". All it all it was very odd because I started the interaction by asking if I could order over the phone. The rudeness of the response and subsequent dismissal was surprising given that I would have been willing to order online (not available) or called another time if now was a good time but was told it was ok. I'm disappointed because I'd rather purchase from local businesses but I've had better experiences and more selection at Home Depot. It also was upsetting because while I was polite and up front about my request the tone of the call was so rude I was taken aback. I guess it's back to big box stores.

We get plants put in our window boxes here every spring. Take your own planters or buy them here, choose your plants, and return in an hour (sometimes more, depending on how busy they are) to pick them up. If you park nearby, they'll even bring their cart over to pick up and drop off to your car. Nice, helpful and cheerful service.

Hate to do this but I feel really deceived. I went in looking for some plants and I settled one three small $20 plants. They were nice and offered to help me move them into a bigger potter since I had mentioned wanting to plant them together. It took all of one minute and we finished up. When I went to pay they added $15 for labor, $15 for the plastic potter, $12 for dirt. All of these charges were not disclosed to me up front. They stuck arbitrary charges like 20lbs of dirt even though the whole thing weighs 7lbs.

I spent almost double what I had expected to without any warning. I know they’re a small business and I prefer to spend a little extra to support them but this is not cool. Hope that they can make this right and at least warn people what they’ll charge in the future.

We live downtown and we've made a tradition the last few years of walking the 45 minutes to this place to get our tree because really, it's the only place we know of within walking distance. The trees were nice the first few years and the last 2-3 they've been mediocre (and overpriced!!) looking trees that dry out about a week after being bought, so already, not the best experience. ($250 for a 7-foot, old dried out tree.. a bit much.) But okay, we love our little tradition and we don't know where else to go so, this year we did the same. We get there the Sunday after Thanksgiving, thinking we'll have first pick at brand new trees and honestly, we were SUPER disappointed. The trees looked awful. Think sparse and dry IN THE LOT. So we ask when the next shipment is and decide to come back then. That day comes and I CALL earlier in the day to check that they indeed got a shipment (I am told yes) and that they have 7-foot trees (I am told yes.) Ok great. It's FREEZING that day so I don't see walking 45 minutes in 20-degree weather so we actually pay for an Uber (because with 2 people, grabbing a bus and a train would come out to the exact same price.) We get there and it's the same dead-looking trees they had the day before. I ask about the shipment and I'm told that nope, they didn't get a shipment today, they're getting one tomorrow (are you kidding me?? Thanks for wasting our time and costing us $20 in Uber rides.) I'm getting real sick of going ALL the way to this place so today, I call AGAIN in the middle of the afternoon to make sure they ACTUALLY got a shipment. I called, get this, TWENTY TWO TIMES and no one could bother to pick up the phone. So you know what? You clearly don't need our business. There are 2 lots near each other in Lakeview and that's where we're going from here on out. WE'RE DONE Old Town Gardens. Buh-bye.

I've purchased live Christmas trees for YEARS!
The place we would normally buy trees was temporarily closed. We bought a tree from Old Town Gardens on 12/03. Mind you, all the trees I've bought in the past would live until 1st or 2nd wk in January. When the tree was delivered a lot of the stems were broken. The tree started wilting after the 1st week. I called to share the issues and no assistance was given. I would never return to this place again. I would never recommend. I would normally pay $225 max for the tree including delivery. They charged $290 including delivery. Very very disappointed!!

Absolutely amazing staff, knowledgeable team, friendly and helpful.

I loved the plant selection too! I went for one plant and left with 8!

Old Town Garden is fantastic! They have very knowledgeable staff, they’re friendly, and so accommodating! Their selection of flowers and plants is wonderful too!

Me and my husband had a great time finding reasonable priced indoor plants! And the guys there were kind and informative (also great music) 🌱✨

Got a beautiful amethyst hydrangea for an incredibly reasonable price at Old Town Garden Center. This place has an amazing selection! The owner was so nice and helpful. We love this place!

Pretty. Flowers are decently priced. It’s the containers and pots that are a bit pricey.
About $100 to make (I had the soil at home)
The container was $30 and metal hook was probably around $5-10

Great selection of plants, planters, and seeds. The cutest shop too!! We can't wait to go back to buy more as the weather warms up. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable 👍

Called ahead to check for two specific plants that were sold out in a few other shops closer to me. The associate was knowledgeable, attentive and found the two plants in stock at a great price. Looking forward to going back for more!

If you love to be inspired, if plants fill you with joy, and if gardens are your happy place… like me, you will be completely obsessed with Christy Webber. I have found both exactly what I was looking for and also been surprised and fallen in love (here’s looking at you, Siberian Pea Shrub 😘). Just go, you won’t regret it. Word to the wise: you won’t find great deals. However, the love of money is the root of all evil so don’t worry your pretty little head and love some beautiful plants instead.

Sooo sweet and helpful <3 even gave me watering/care instructions on a couple of plants I’d been gifted and knew nothing about! You can tell the people working here really love the work they do and it makes me super happy :)

This is the most overpriced plant store I've been to in the history of plant shops. I thought it was going to be average priced, but definitely not. Houseplants were twice the price of what you see in other garden stores, considering small shops, not the big box stores.

Excellent place to get air plants. Gorgeous plants with amazing selection and service. It's a beautiful store that emitates nature. Just walking inside is inspirational, more than most nurseries. We even got a tour and history. So cool!

I've been gardening for 20+ years. I've been buying my flowers annuals and perrenials at CW for 10 years if not more. I spend approximately $1,000 a year. Not much but all I can afford. I understand that I am not their biggest paying client but I believe we smaller customers should be appreciated too. Every year at the end of May, I put in a special request. The special request is Persian shields, white & purple mexican heather, pentas and especially, vanilla marigolds. There's never been an issue. Within a week, I received a call and I pick up my order. In the Fall, I special request Durango marigolds.

This year, I was taken aback by the look of most flowers at CW. By May 30, they looked really bad and beaten. I was surprised because normally I leave with $400 bill and this time, I could not even get to $75.00

On May 30th, I put in my special request. I was met by a 5'10" older woman with gray hair and wearing a long skirt. As I put in my request with another associate, this older associate started to inquire about my special request. She took over and started to explain that it's late in the season and she went on to berate me openly about waiting to put in this special request. I attempted to explain that I do not garden early - usually the first week in June so the flowers last throughout the summer into the Fall. She continued to question me. I felt I was put on the spot and ridiculed for "waiting". No other year, with no other associate, have I been made to feel this way. I felt embarrassed and shamed. She went onto check her inventory and told me she had 12 racks coming in and they had pentas and Persian shields. The others she would have to check with her growers but seemed unlikely. She said I would have to pick from what's on the racks. I again asked her could she please inquire and she looked at me blankly. I asked if I would be receiving the customary call to update me and she said yes. I knew by her look that I would not receive a call.

I did not receive a call.

I attempted to contact CW offices 12x and there's no option to raise a concern directly. After 10+ years & $10,000+ of supporting CW, I feel so disrespected and unappreciated.

As per your response: Please do not lie. You did not call me the next day, not the next week or 2 weeks. You called me only once you saw my initial review on CW main page. You "pulled" the 2 types of flowers: pentas and Persian shields that I mentioned in this review and never called me to notify me within reasonable time. Once again, you only tried making contact once you saw the review on the CW main page. Do Not Lie against me, furthering insult to injury.
Your attitude was horribly disrespectful, snotty and condescending. Maybe you thought I didn't know better. Maybe you had a bad day. Maybe you thought you could treat me like such and I wouldn't do anything about it. I have never been treated as such by anyone else. You do not need to be in customer service and if you plan on staying - adjust your attitude.

Great selection of seasonal outdoor plants! We go a few times a year to design new planters and refresh our landscape. Year round the indoor plants there too with a pretty large selection of pots/planters.

Was looking for a large plant for my condo which has minimal light. Sara was extremely helpful and explained everything to me. I used to go to Home Depot every couple months for a new plant because it would die all the time and there was never anyone around who had any knowledge on this stuff. It was very refreshing to work with a company whose employees know what they're talking about and show their passion for it. Thanks Christy Webber and Sara! Awesome experience!
