I found CHJ based on the reviews at YELP. They just finished my basement which last over a week. With the quality of work and timely manner they delivered, I feel lucky that I made the right decision to go with Chris and his team for my basement project out of 5 other quotes I received.
Right after I contact CHJ, Chris came out and provided me a detailed estimate which includes installation of drywall, baseboard, chair rails, painting the walls and trims as well as finishing the stairs in the basement and connecting new cabinet with sink in the bathroom in the basement. With the details on the estimate and reasonable price they offered, we started soon after the estimate. It turns out they did an excellent job during the whole process and kept me updated on the project status all the time. This team kept my home clean and is very polite, considerate, detail oriented and well organized. Highly recommended!

This company is the best you can ever hire for interior remodeling to finishing basement from scratch. They are professional, pleasant, responsive, and have great modern taste. They also focus on getting the job perfectly done before asking for their pay. Highly recommend their services!!

Over the past 5-months we hired CHJ do two painting and remodeling projects. Because of their performance on the first project I didn't even consider going to anyone else for the second project. The first project was a small bathroom remodel which included new floor tile, regrouting of the tub/shower, installation of a new toilet and vanity and painting of the room. When the toilet was removed there was obvious leakage. Subflooring had to be removed and the toilet drain pipe replaced. Chris did a great job showing and explaining the problem and was able to get the job back on schedule in relatively short order. The final result was great! The regrouted tub/shower looks brand new and that saved us money compared to replacing that tile.

Our second project included painting of our second floor, painting of our living room ceiling, new tile in our main bathroom, replace carpeting in a hallway with laminate flooring, replace tile steps to our basement with stained wood stairs, replace paneling with drywall and install two wood railings. We requested that the work be split into two parts and Chris had no problem doing that. Overall the projects took about 7-days to complete. Chris and his guys were meticulous in their work, taking no shortcuts and again the results were excellent.

Chris and his guys are punctual, polite and respectful. They clean up everyday and keep the mess of construction to the absolute minimum. They were flexible in working with our schedule. My father owned and operated a painting company for over 30-years and I worked for him every summer. I know what good work looks like and what it takes to satisfy customers. In my opinion you can't go wrong with CHJ.

Following up on this previous review, we once again used CHJ for a painting project where they repaired a cracked ceiling and other stress cracks. Once again the workers were very professional, prompt and the work area was left very clean, The final product is just what we were looking for, Chris was also flexible in fitting the estimate into our budget.

Chris and his team are true artisans, and we have enjoyed working with them on several painting projects over the last several years. They are professional, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering 100% customer satisfaction on each project. 10/10 would recommend. The team worked thoroughly and accurately on our interior paint job, and they were done within 3 days. Ceilings included! The cleanup at the end is a great touch. Granted we just moved into our new condo and had 0 furniture to work around, but the quickness and professionalism was still awesome. We even got quotes from other services, big and small, and CHJ's was one of the least expensive ones.

Chris and his staff are incredibly responsive, thorough, professional and seamless. Their work is perfect every time. If anything is left amiss, they immediately return to make it right. He has worked with us for over 25 years. I highly recommend him for painting inside and out, wallpapering, wood repair, and other general decorating and remodeling services. We used CHJ for a basement remodel. We live in a ranch, so this job essentially doubled the size of our home. They did an incredible job. Chris and his team exceeded all of our expectations. The job was done on time, within budget and with extreme care and attention to detail. Everyone on the team was friendly, professional and efficient and kept an incredibly clean and organized job site. We will definitely call Chris when we do our kitchen remodel next. Chris and his team at CHJ were an absolute pleasure to work with after we had some water damage to our condo unit. They were speedy (completed the job in ~8 days when the original estimate was 2 weeks) but never skimped on quality, which was most important to us. From minor paint touch ups to re-drywalling to wallpaper finishes- everything was restored flawlessly to match the original quality of our unit - you could never tell there was water damage at all! CHJ came as a referral from a friend, and I'd definitely pass that recommendation along to anyone in need of contract work.

CHJ Painting and Remodeling painted the exterior of my house, which included a large portico and three very beaten-up doors. His crew did a very good job and Andre’s prep work on my 70 year old doors made them look brand new! They also found a problem with one of my front bay windows. Chris had his carpenter come to the house to find a fix to the problem. Chris explained what needed to be done and why it was the right thing to do. I trusted his judgement and was not disappointed! The window looked great after the repair. It is rare to find a painter that can also do carpentry work when needed. Overall, I found Chris to be responsive, fair, and pleasant to work with. I would gladly use him again.

My mom used this contractor on her condo for numerous projects and they did a spectacular job. They were always fast and within budget. They also cleaned up carefully after every job and helped my mom out with smaller projects (as well as the big ones). Easy to work with, honest - she recommends them highly.

Outstanding experience working with CHJ Painting & Remodeling on projects for our vintage home. The first project involved tuckpointing and preparing our interior brick basement foundation to be repainted, and they did a fabulous job. Our next projects involved some carpentry work to rebuild our front steps, exterior painting, and interior painting. Great results again. My project was to repair and repaint from and back porches on a 140 year old home. The CHJ team were totally professional and easy to work with. They showed up on time and cleaned up after work each day, They brought people in with specific skills as needed. Most importantly, they did really high quality work. Our small condo building (100+ years old) in downtown Chicago has used CHJ’s business partner (Wojtek at Voy-Tech) for a number of varied projects (new concrete parking area, exterior siding repair and re-staining, exterior brick replacement, and tree removal). We had a wonderful experience with CHJ Painting. Chris was easy to talk to and heard everything we said and totally met our needs. Chris' crew, Igor, Vince and Andre' were the nicest guys and did a stellar job painting and plastering for us in a number of our rooms. They also removed remains of this horrible hard to remove wallpaper. It was so bad I thought it would be impossible to do and the room needed new drywall. Chris said: No need for new dry wall, they can fix it. And when they finished that room, Wow! the walls looked brand new.
They worked here for 6 days and they always arrived on time, prepped all the areas and totally cleaned up every night before leaving. We are in awe of their professional work. We recommend them 1000% and they deserve 10 stars.
