HVAC reviews in Lexington, Kentucky
-
Frustrated is an understatement. We bought this new HVAC system 4 years ago with a “10 year warranty” from Comfort Heating in Lexington. Back in the summer we had an issue of the air not working properly and were told 3 different possible things that it could be. The last tech that came out found the inside unit was freezing up and between the diagnostic to run for a Freon leak and the Freon itself was gonna be around $3000.
I said the hell with that and bought window units and put them in and they did just fine. Fast forward to last week and we go to kick the heat on and it’s not working. The inside and outside units are on but nothing is blowing. Call them out and they diagnose the blower motor being out and will call me with the price.
I’m under the impression that we are under warranty and it won’t be that much. Last week when they called they informed me that the outside unit is under the 10 year warranty but the inside was only a 1 year warranty because it’s a “mobile home”. I argued that we were never told that when we bought it and signed the paperwork and we were not. I threw a fit and they came down from the price of $1350 to $1200.
They ordered the motor on Monday and said they would call me to set up installation because it should be in by Thursday. Hadn’t heard anything and called Tuesday with no return call. Called yesterday twice, spoke to people and no return call. Called again this morning and was told it will be a week and a half now before they can get the parts in.
I have called last week and this week and the person I need to speak to never returns my call or is there apparently. Long story short, it’s gonna be cold next week, I’m aggravated and pissed and y’all NEVER GO TO THEM! -
Wonderful service from Nathan price. He knows his stuff. After 6 people, he figured out the issue and was so nice and didn't make us feel crazy!

This company is TOP TIER!! Every interaction is so respectful to me and my home!! This company does not sell or upsell on anything, they take their time to educate and explain everything so you as the homeowner can make the decision that is best for you! I am so glad and grateful to have called this company.

Ryan was great! He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable/quickly able to answer my questions and offered useful tips for maintenance and optimal HVAC performance. In and out, plus I appreciated that he got here closer to 10:00 as opposed to 2:00, in the given 4 hour eta window.

They got us set up wonderfully. Jackson and Brady, were polite and respectful. Hard working in this terrible heat they did a great job and left no mess. Found out on filter maintenance, filter was not installed. They are coming back to install and not charging us for the miscommunication. I am very hapoy with the customer service and the way they really try to get things fixed. Very polite respectful workers. I recommend them to anyone I can.

I received a phone call from a telemarketer offering a $29 furnace tuneup. I did schedule it and a gentleman came out and told me what needed to be done. Well, I will tell you for $29 you get nothing but just someone to view your furnace. No filter change no blower cleaning nothing if I would’ve known that I would’ve never scheduled the appointment. Very disappointed in their sales tactics offering the $29 special leading people to believe that they’re getting their furnace inspected and the necessary parts that need to be cleaned.

These people definitely don't want to talk to their customers! You can only reach a "customer care" center in Florida and they tell you someone from the local branch will call you back but they NEVER do!! We have been waiting for a part for our furnace for two weeks (after being told it would be a week). Tech was out on the 5th, said a part was ordered. Called to check on it the 10th, was told it would be installed the 18th. Called on the 17th asking if the part had arrived and would actually be installed on Tuesday the 18th as they told me, they said "someone will call you today". No call on Monday. No call on Tuesday. I've now spoken with "Customer Care" three times today and been told they were "escalating the call" because they couldn't reach anyone in parts or anyone at the local branch. Still no call. My next call is to American Express to dispute the charge for the maintenance plan.

I was a loyal customer of Comfort Heating and Air for over 11 years. I originally had them install a new HVAC system and was happy for many years. I enrolled in their $30/month maintenance plan, which included two yearly inspections and filter changes.
This past year, the service quality dropped significantly. During one visit, the technician failed to seal the upstairs air handler properly, causing cooling issues and leaking cold air into the attic. I discovered the issue myself, fixed it, and also realized the upstairs filter hadn't been changed — part of what I was paying for.
At the fall inspection, the technician arrived 45 minutes late without calling. He showed me photos suggesting I needed additional parts and emailed me a quote. He washed the downstairs unit filter, but told me I was responsible for reinstalling it after it dried. He did not replace the upstairs filter again.
I contacted the service manager, who did send another tech to correct the issues — and I appreciated that — but by then, my trust was gone. I called to cancel my maintenance plan and was told it was done and I’d get a confirmation email. That never came. Instead, I was charged again the next month.
I had to call twice more to follow up. Even after they confirmed the cancellation internally, the billing continued with no clear resolution or confirmation sent to me.
Unfortunately, based on the decline in service quality, lack of communication, and ongoing billing issues, I can no longer recommend Comfort Heating and Air -
We experienced a leak from work completed by this company in 2023 and had significant water damage to drywall, floor and cabinets. The leak was repaired, but a follow up with repairing the damage or compensation for the error on their part was never completed.
I contacted the company this year for a check up and asked for the service to be waived due to no follow up last year. No one called me back after going up the chain. I spoke with the tech last evening and he said they could not bill me. I own the home and live out of state, but my senior parents live in the home and they paid the fee.
Not to mention the telemarketing calls received multiple times throughout the day.
Very unhappy with service and now we know...it's time to take our business elsewhere! -
Thermostat called for heat but no flame and no fan operation. Lock out protection had been triggered as unit was getting too hot. After discussion, service man suspected natural gas pressure was too high causing overheating when flame was on first thing in the morning. Checked gas valve and confirmed pressure was over limit. Adjusted valve until pressure was in range.
Should be fine now. Good troubleshooting work by the serviceman. Service call was $109 which is reasonable. -
Comfort Heating and Air, especially Adam, have gone above and beyond.
I would use Comfort Heating and Air again, especially Adam, I just would not install a Carrier Mini Split system.
Also, a special shout out to Rob the service manager.Fabulous service and professionalism!! -
While they have been prompt most of our calls we’ve had 6 different service techs out, multiple different explanations but in my mind the bottom line is when they installed our indoor unit they did not complete the hook up so the emergency heat unit is not functioning causing the outside unit to overwork and freeze up. The inside and outside units were installed about 6 months ago at one point there were parts ordered and brought out here but the tech who had the part swore we only had a 25 amp breaker. We had an electrician out here and he said it’s a 125 amp breaker. The tech from comfort today confirmed that, but the part that was ordered for the repair was not passed to him so still no resolution. To boot they want to charge me for a diagnostic call for that last visit that the tech was WRONG. I would recommend checking reviews before purchasing and making sure all units are functioning properly before the installers leave!

Let me start off by saying my techs and people that came out when my hvac unit broke were wonderful. Now on to the problem. I had my hvac unit replaced completely on January 14 th. Fast forward a month later I get a 621.38 bill. I have them come back out immediately and check the high efficiency/ energy saving unit they suggested and I paid over 13500 for looked at. Due to a malfunctioning motherboard and a bad sensor on my brand new unit. My air had been in aux heat the whole time. Never saying it was just saying heat on. I asked for help with the large bill to be told by the manager no. That it was on me. It had been really cold and that was to be expected. Mind you…I have lived in my home since 2003 without a bill that high ever. Only one had it been over 400… due to me not catching my old unit being in aux heat. Paid that. I didn’t catch it. I asked the manager about them now knowing that it was malfunctioning and was told well I don’t know when that broke. Mind you the usage went up day one of them putting it in. It has been one month. I am so disappointed in how this is being taken care of. That’s all for now… but beware. I will say that the manager called back the next day and we came to an agreement and he was very helpful from this point on. Thank you!

The crew I had was both proficient and knowledgeable. They worked together as a team. Answered all my questions so I could understand what was going on. I would definitely recommend them and Comfort Heating and air. To anyone who asks.

Excellent company and experience. They came out and did a quote for me on Tuesday and had a brand new system installed the very next day! I am super happy with how fast and efficient everyone was, we finally have central heat and air after 3.5 years! Not to mention everything is brand new and they took the time to do it correctly. There was a huge gap between the furnace and the ventilation system and they took the time to repair it for us so we didn't have to worry about not being able to heat the house efficiently.

Comfort Heating and Air replaced my whole system and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone I dealt with in the company was as nice as could be. The techs that installed my new system, Logen and Riley, were as professional and knowledgeable about their trade as they could be. I asked many questions and they taught me a lot about my new system and everything they installed was done the right way and they put a lot of effort into my family’s home not taking a single short cut and I’m thankful. They even installed a drain pump and cleaned out my drain lines without even being asked. Comfort heating and Air will be the only company I’ll ever trust to take care of our home!

I had two interactions with comfort heating and air. The first technician was very nice and professional and he told me he didn’t really find anything wrong and I went with that and thanked him, but the issue replicated itself. The second Technician that came out was absolutely phenomenal!! His name is Adam. He was so knowledgeable. I could tell when I described the problem on the phone that he understood what I was saying. He came and he problem solved and then showed me the pictures of the problem and fixed it and it’s the first time since I’ve been in this house that actually felt warm because there was some issues from the builders who wired something backwards and then left some wires for the auxiliary heat disconnected and Adam found the problem and fixed it and I am so thankful to him! My house is so much different and I just applaud him for his expertise and knowledge and professionalism - he was able to get to the bottom of the problem that I’ve been having for years and I’ve had other people come out to look at it and nobody ever found the problem until now!!! Adam is the best!!! I’m not a heating and air expert so when all these other people said they couldn’t find anything wrong I just believe them, but Adam showed me the pictures of what was wrong and I can feel a difference in my home!!!! Thank you, Adam so much! - Comfort heating and air you need to get this man a raise 🤗

Our heating system failed suddenly- on one of the chilliest December days in a while. From my first call to Comfort Heating and Air, someone was available to assess the problem within just a few hours. Every person I interacted with was kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. I never felt pressured to make a decision/purchase, despite the time sensitivity of it all. They were able to begin removing/replacing the old furnace within 24 hours of my initial phone call. This included having to cut a large hole in a concrete patio that was installed over the crawlspace by a previous owner. Ryan took the time to make a cover for this hole despite this not being in the contract or their responsibility. All 4 employees worked hard ALL day in the bitter cold and in that tiny crawlspace. Everything was cleaned up meticulously. Will recommend 10/10 to anyone I know with heating/air concerns. Thank you!

Adam was amazing! Analyzed and fixed the issue quickly and professionally. Clearly explained the issue and the solution. Since I made the switch to Comfort from a competitor 8 years ago they always provide exceptional service!

Matt was extremely helpful and professional. He fixed our issue quickly and our quote wasnt far off at all do no sticker shock. Great guy and quick service before the snow storm of 26

Very prompt. Really liked the guy that came out to give me an estimate. Very knowledgeable and did not throw a big sales pitch.
The 3 guys that preformed the install were younger and enthusiastic, I could tell they were proud of their trade and their work. I enjoyed watching the complete installation, they explained everything as the work progressed. Complete heat and air in less than a day.
I would highly recommend. I could tell right away that they are a top-notch company.
