Cameron and the whole Barstow & Sons team were amazing! He quickly diagnosed our issue and was able to repair on the spot for a reasonable cost! We will definitely call on them again!

We chose Barstow on the recommendation from our contractor. At that time, they were great. They were responsive and we were able to get a new HVAC system installed as we were renovating our house in a timely fashion. I understand the company was sold and is now under new management. Things have changed and they are no longer as responsive. The change in management has meant a degradation of service.

And here is one of the problems:

We have a Carrier heat pump system.
Less than two years after the system was installed, we had a complete failure of the compressor due to faulty equipment (according to them).

First, I do not think the technician was well-trained and seemed unsure of the problem and the cause.

I was told that because the compressor failed, the refrigerant was ruined (also according to them). While the compressor parts and labor were covered by warranty, we were told that we would have to pay for the refrigerant (ca. $1300). In my opinion, this is completely unacceptable. The refrigerant is a part, or component, of the system. Their equipment failed, resulting in a need to replace the refrigerant, therefore I do not think the customer should have to incur that cost. This does not seem fair to me. What are we to do if it fails again due to faulty equipment? Keep shelling out money for a faulty system?

I reached out several times and even spoke with the General Manager who told me he would look into what he could do. I have not heard back from him. Meanwhile, temperatures are dropping and we are without heat.

Darvin was excellent. He showed up on time.
He was courteous, very thorough, worked cleanly, and took the time to completely explain what wad in need of repair or replacement. We are very happy that he was our service provider today!

Cameron did a great Job getting my HVAC/Heat pump was back up and running during a bitter cold spell. He was super friendly and knowledge and made sure all of my questions were answered. Luckily, I had a relatively easy fix - Cameron also gave me simple recommendations to ensure the efficiency and longevity of my system.

I called Barstow and Sons and was helped immediately and even managed to get a technician out the next day. I was told the tech would show up between 8-9am and Josue showed up at 8:30. Awesome!

Josue let me know the process that would be required to diagnose my unit and he got to work after I showed him where the inside and outside unit.

My issue was taken care of promptly and though it wasn't too complicated, so far, I am impressed with the speediness and the attention they paid to a brand new customer.

Just because of all of this, I'll be more then happy to call Barstow and Sons again for any HVAC issue I have.

Jake and Rick were very knowledgeable, kind, courteous, and professional. They were able to diagnose and fix my issue quickly. Plus they were informative about how to fix my issue in the future. At no point were they trying to upsell me on anything. I would definitely use this company again.

My husband and I are extremely happy that we went with Barstow for our heat pump. Not only was the installation seamless, but the yearly maintenance visits have been prompt, efficient, and reliable. All staff are personable, knowledgeable, and generous with their time. We’ve been with other vendors in the past and have never been satisfied with their services. Barstow makes the extra effort to ensure quality—price, product, and professionalism.

Caleb L. Arrived a few minutes early to scheduled appointment and greeted me professionally. He immediately set to work, both inside and outside, taking great care to not track mud inside which I appreciate. He explained a few issues and consulted on his phone a couple times ultimately resolving the challenges.
His work was clean and professional work and his Barstow & Sons truck was immaculate for so much recent snow and mud out
there. I assume they wash their trucks routinely because it's hard to keep your work vehicles clean and mud free these days. :-).
Recommend him as your next tech.

Carl and team replaced the mixing valve and related piping around the hot water tank. Carl drove out to Annapolis to get the part on the holiday. They laid down towels to protect the carpeting from water and muddy foot prints. They worked quickly and courteously, and restored the hot water for the family! Thank you!

Barstow & Sons did a quote to replace our HVAC. Reggie was on time, polite and professional. He did a thorough job assessing our needs. Also he clearly communicated the situation and our options. I felt he offered a fair and reasonable price for the system replacement. Thank you

Ethan was great! He was extremely knowledgeable, quickly diagnosed the issue with our heat pump, and clearly explained all of his troubleshooting steps. Once our repair parts arrived, Ethan returned and expertly fixed our HVAC system. Overall, he was incredibly professional, very thorough, and extremely friendly. Thank you, again, Ethan!

So disappointed to write this because I've been a longtime Barstow customer. Barstow sold out to F.H. Furr a private equity owned company. (Good for Chuck and congrats on his retirement). Unfortunately for us customers, the good technicians are gone and a call center answers phones so can't get an actual employee who knows what's going on at a given moment.

Our HVAC went out and they sent a technician to come out for diagnostics. Whole time he was on the phone w/ someone else walking him through what to do. (Turns out it was a Jr. Tech they sent out). Promptly at 5pm, he declared he had fixed the one error message on the thermostat, though he noted an error message was still coming up inside the unit. Said he would touch base w/ a colleague and call the next day to check on it . Never heard from him. I called again and a Sr Technician was scheduled to come out and fix the next day. Then the next day I received a text that the same Jr Tech was on his way to my house. Took me being put on hold with CSR for 10 minutes and never coming back and then hanging up on me and then me having to call multiple times before I was able to get through to the kind Dispatch person to help me. (When I reached her, she was not sure why the Jr Technician was sent back out as she had requested a Sr Tech). At that point, I cut my losses and called another HVAC company - one that is actually locally based and family-owned.

Highly suggest you do your research - look into F.H. Furr since it was bought out by private equity in 2022.

Same day service by a very competent and professional HVAC Tech (Nicholas). Customer service responded immediately to my request and were helpful and responsive throughout. Overall a great experience.

Our kitchen drain and cold water line were blocked by the recent cold weather. We called Barstow and over a several day period DeSean, Carl Lebo and Jake Lebo were involved in resolving our problem. All were completely courteous and professional. They kept us apprised of their progress and discussed options for resolution. We were so impressed with the quality of the service that we purchased a maintenance plan from Barstow.

My wife's and my experiences were exemplary with Tony. He was friendly, professional, prompt, thorough and knowledgeable. He treated us with respect and courtesy. And he liked our dog. He readily answered all questions with understandable information for our rookie adventure in dealing with one of life's many challenges.

The company is top notch. From setting up appointment to installing a new faucet in bathroom. Very clean work. Jacob was very knowledgeable. And I have 2 more estimates for later projects. I highly recommend them.

Tony has set the bar quite high. His attention to detail, overall knowledge of systems and their operations is second to none. He made the complexity of the jobs understandable to us layman, putting our minds at ease. And my I add , his level of professionalism and eagerness to over achieve any expectations you might of had, a rare find in today's climate. Tony A+++ and the staff at Barstow & Son's have really impressed us here at the Harris household. Thank you for all that you have done to keep us comfortable in our home.

We called Barstow and Sons and Ethan the technician came out the same day. He was very knowledgeable and was able to check our heating system and make sure it was operational. He explained all the details to us and was very respectful of our property. I would highly recommend this young man and this company.

Robert Carey from Barstow and Sons HVAC just came out to the house for a service call. Write a five star review he was courteous, prompt, or shoe covers when entering the house when he found that the compressor on my heat pump wasn’t working he hooked up the gauges to show me the pressures. He was an excellent tech and explained that since my unit was from 2009, it would probably be more beneficial to replace the unit than just the compressor.

Good job and kudos to United Air Temp for always sending quality repairmen. Jerry, the repair man arrived on time (even though I had to reschedule earlier in the day), properly serviced my A/C system, then gave additional recommendations to extend the life of the unit.

Well it took over a month to get the right part after trying with a generic part. And in between shorting out the control board within the unit I really hate leaving had reviews! I’m simply very disappointed 😔
But glad my 6month old unit was finally fixed
