I had a great experience with Hecox from start to finish. Their team is quick to respond by email, and I liked the email and text notification system for appointment confirmation and billing. Eli and Zach were on time, professional, and courteous. They worked efficiently and carefully on the AC tune-up. The payment system was also simple, and I liked that the invoice showed all the tasks they completed, and indicated what items should be looked at for next year's tune-up. I highly recommend Hecox.

Had a very bad experience with this company and its technician, Eli. They failed to properly diagnose the issue before the home was sold and charged twice for a diagnosis even though the technician admitted to having missed the issue the first time.

The previous owner of the condo brought this company to fix the AC that would randomly would stop cooling. The technician, Eli, said that there was nothing wrong and that the AC was "fine." I had started to have the same issue with the AC two weeks after the sale. The same technician came to look at the unit, which seems fair since it was his mistake and it only made sense that he would come take responsibility. He showed up and said that he had missed the issue the first time. He said he would send an estimate on how to fix the issue that night. That estimate did not show up that night. A couple of days later I followed up and they said that Eli was out sick (he was uncontrollably coughing when he showed up at the condo). Two weeks after the second visit, Eli sent over an estimate for $7,500 to replace the entire unit. I called to check why it was so much money and the person who answered did not know. Eli did not respond until the next morning with another estimate for $1,200. He explained that he sent the first estimate because he hadn't known how to send the real estimate the first time or was not sure if the part that needed replacement was sold separately. He didn't explain why he had just sent the first estimate without any explanation. Both diagnosis visits were charged ($165), even though they made a mistake in the first one.

Our go to place for annual check ups on our AC and furnace. Technicians are courteous and on time. Prices are very reasonable and they never try to upsell you.

Hecox Home Services was highly recommended to me a few years ago by a good friend. It was sincerely the best recommendation I have ever received.

This company is an absolute gem. We unexpectedly needed their service again today - Hecox rearranged their schedule to ensure we wouldn’t go without heat tonight. In less than 3 hours Eli was here. Speaking of a gem - Eli is a gem! As always, he provided exceptional service in his personable and pleasant manner. Eli is clearly not only an expert in his field - he’s an expert at explaining the problem and solution to us laypeople.

Every time I do business with Hecox I am left feeling sincere comfort and gratitude for the 100% trust and confidence I have that this company is not only exceptionally skilled, but HONEST and FAIR - not so easy to find in today’s world. I’m holding on tight to Hecox - a true gem.

Our 3 year old AC unit wasn't cooling our house anymore. Gave these guys a call on a sunday (same day!) and everything was fixed in an hour. Service and new refrigerant total was $550. He explained what happened clearly and honestly. He even detailed how we should go about reimbursement/claiming warranty with the company that originally installed it 🙂

These guys are definitely in your corner when it comes to costs and repairs. VERY highly recommend.

Hecox Home Services solved my boiler issue saving me thousands of dollars. Before I knew about Hecox, I contracted with a different company, who also has a great reputation, to install a new boiler in my home. Immediately, two of my radiators stopped heating. The company I originally hired came out twice and couldn't figure out the issue. I almost paid thousands of dollars to replace the valves in those two radiators. But, per recommendation from a neighbor, I called Hecox.

Gayle, the owner of Hecox, came to investigate the issue and discovered that there was an issue with one of my pumps: a quick fix that saved me thousands. I highly recommend Hecox, and I hope this review helps others who are struggling to find HVAC companies who really understand boiler/radiator heating systems.

Zach was a great and knowledgeable service tech who took care of my downstairs unit checkup without issue.

I informed the company when I made my appointment that they would need a 30ft ladder to reach my rooftop unit. I was assured that they would either send a tech with such a ladder or let me know that one was not available. Neither happened, so only one of my two units got checked out. Their installation team has one, but they are booked through the summer. No big deal, just would have liked to know beforehand.

Hecox continues to amaze us with how wonderful their service can be. Not only was the original install last year a 5-star review, but so too is their continued warranty support and servicing this year (even while being inundated with appointments during this heat dome). We couldn't be more pleased with our decision to have gone with this company and I will hands-down recommend them to anyone in the market.

They are great! Ordered a new programmable thermostat. It was installed promptly by Eli. He opened and registered our account immediately. Nicole, the representative who answers the phone for Hecox, was terrific too. She suggested I send pictures of our old thermostat and then showed them to the technical representative to ensure that the new thermostat was compatible with our old system. We will always use Hecox for any future heating/cooling needs.

1 star for the scheduling and estimator service. Called in and made an appointment a week out. On the day itself and at the appointed time, I called them to tell them I've received no text confirmation, and to ask where the estimator was. The estimator apparently came 15min later and was knocking my door but I heard nothing as I was on the 3rd floor (the house has 2 doors, like many houses here in DC). They apparently tried to call me but had a completely erroneous phone number on their records. No idea why or how that happened. I waited 30min and called them back asking where the estimator was and they said he had already left after knocking for "25 minutes" (which is honestly nonsense because I only went back up 10min later and there were no knocks).

The issue could have been spotted earlier if Hecox had a system of pre-visit SMS confirmations. I was also told (during my call back) that they do not have installation slots all the way until 1.5 months later in August!!! If that was indeed the case, they should have said that upfront during the appointment scheduling so that I wouldn't wait a week for them. The poor estimator is overwhelmed making all these visits and their poor systems and inconsistent call service made it worse. I was told by the call handler that they "always" tell customers now that installation slots are only available in August and again, nonsense. Because then who did I call to make that initial appointment with? Their competitor? I called Hecox and they said no such thing.

I think the final straw was really the way they tend to make excuses when I interact with them. The first call I made it during a public holiday and there was no answering machine to alert callers that they are not operating (though its unexpected for a HVAC company because then they can't do emergencies). The second call where I got an appointment the call was missed at first, and after the person called back she said that she was "busy". During the final callback where I was trying to understand how we missed an estimator appointment even after I've made plans and stayed home, and called them right at the start of the appointed time, the call handler was telling me "I've had 45 calls since 3pm! I couldn't have seen your number" which btw, I did not insinuate that she should have spotted the wrong number, she just went defensive on her own... Also their common refrain "we're a small family business". You know, I really would like to support small family businesses and I can understand the limitations of lean teams. But this is a lack of systems and a lack of consideration for customers. I would avoid them with these warning signs that they're breaking at the seams.

Hecox is a reliable, and friendly and fast service company. Reasonable prices. They put in our HVAC system 12 years ago, provide smart and sharp service. They are a community and family company around for many years—and their reputation is still strong

I just started using Hecox. I moved to them as the company I formally went to was sold and service has gone down and prices have gone up. After doing a lot of research, I chose another firm first. After they can came out, I did not have a high level of comfort, so I tried Hecox.

I won't go into the details, but several major components of my system failed within a few weeks. If they had failed at the same time, we would have chosen a different route than we did originally. That being said, Hecox worked with me to find a solution that did not break the bank and works very well.

Several Hecox folks came out to do different elements of the work...they were all exceptionally professional and knowledgeable (but reached out to Eli, the guru, for advice when needed). I will definitely be sticking with them moving forward.

    I highly recommend Hecox.

Hecox is by far the best HVAC contractor we have ever used. It is an excellent family owned business that places high value on their employees. From the initial visit by Martin who prepared the estimate; to the 5-member crew who managed the installation including Zack who was in charge the day of installation to Gayle, the owner of the company who personally installed an additional complicated supply duct from the basement to the 2nd floor bedroom going through two closets, to the office staff, they are all highly professional, knowledgeable, friendly and dependable.

We solicited estimates from 4 different companies to replace our aging 26-years old Lennox AC system and to install additional supply duct to our bedroom on the 2nd floor. Hecox’s proposal was comprehensive, giving us 3 easy to understand and clear options and by far they were the most reasonable. The 5-member crew installed our new Lennox Elite system and the new duct in 4 hours. They laid drop cloths upon arrival and then cleaned up after the job was completed. I can’t say enough great things about the team at Hecox!

During the selection process I emailed Martin at least 5-6 times and he promptly responded with clear answers. Overall, we had a very good experience and it was a pleasure to work with Hecox.

We only wish we had found Hecox sooner! We hired them for a second opinion, and we were blown away by their meticulous attention to detail and depth of knowledge. On top of that, their customer service is exceptional. Now that we’ve found them, we won’t use anyone else!

Paul was great and did a thorough check of our HVAC system. The price was very reasonable. We recently had a furnace breakdown emergency and Zach and Eli saved the day and Carolyn is also very helpful. I highly recommend Hecox Home Services!

We had a situation arise in which we needed service on our HVAC system with a winter storm and cold stretch looming. Our regular HVAC service company was unable to help us, so we needed to find someone else. Having to go with a new, unknown service company always causes anxiety, as it can feel like a crapshoot as to whether you will find someone trustworthy. Several friends and family members suggested Hecox Home Services, so we crossed our fingers and gave them a call (on a Saturday!)

Gayle Hecox fielded our call, asked a few questions, and asked if we would be home in a few hours later that same afternoon so he could stop by and check things out. We were surprised - but thrilled - that he was able to help us so quickly. Mr. Hecox was thorough and extremely personable and friendly. He checked our system, explained what he was doing, patiently answered many questions. I know this sounds over the top, but his service call felt more like a visit from a knowledgeable friend helping us out ! And finally, the charges for this service call were more than reasonable.

This review is based on only one service call and interaction, but our experience was absolutely “5 Star” and our family will choose Hecox Home Services for our needs moving forward.

I can’t thank this company enough. They were the 3rd place I called because I knew my system was not end of life. The first 2 companies tries to sell me a whole new unit when this one is only 8 years old. The technician that came out was the nicest guy and very knowledgeable. I am sure I asked too many questions but he answered them all. He said that my unit should have a couple more years and that it only needed a couple parts. He saved me a ton of money and at this time of the year that’s all I could ask for. Thank you to Michael Bonsby HVAC. I will recommend you to anyone that asks.

Kevin, our electrician, was knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly. He worked quickly and cleaned up after himself. We will definitely call him with any future work we need to have done.

Brian Gehle, with MichaelBronsby, reviewed our project with us. He recommended very sensible solutions to meet our needs, then provided a quote on the spot. We have always found MichaelBronsby to recommend excellent solutions and do the work with high quality tradecraft. Thanks Brian Gehle!!

I really appreciate Kyle level of professionalism. He was concise with his inspection, and he let my hubby and I know up front what the issue was. We're better able to move forward with the work bc of Mr. Kyle's expertise. Looking forward to working with your company! Thank you.

Sam came out to perform an on-site estimate for a whole-house humidifier installation and did an excellent job. He was professional, polite, and thorough--taking the time to explain multiple options and clearly outline the pros and cons of each approach. He provided all the information we needed to make an informed decision, and his attention to detail was much appreciated. Highly recommend!
