I would not recommend Farnen & Dermer and I feel cheated. We bought a brand new HVAC system through F&D in 2020. They sold us on the 10-year warranty, which was too good to pass up. They require you to get maintenance on the system twice a year to keep the warranty and it’s about $200. We apparently missed one (which I already prepaid for) because the emails went to my husband’s junk mail and I wasn’t on the mailing list yet. So I had to pay for the maintenance again. And apparently it voided the labor warranty now. So… fast forward to last week when my heat wasn’t working, and I asked F&D to come out to look at it and do the maintenance on the machine. It turns out there was a refrigerant leak in the outdoor unit’s coil. To find the leak, it cost $975 to perform a test!! They also charged me the $200 for the maintenance when the machine was already broken!! To fix the machine they told me it would take 4-6 weeks to get the piece in and it would cost $6,800 to repair and I’d have to run my emergency heat for that time. I called the office crying asking if there’s anything they could do and Zach said he’s get back to me and never did. I found a local HVAC company that said they can get the piece in 7-10 days and it would cost a FRACTION of the price F&D quoted me (which was JUST the cost of labor). I’m sorry but they lost me as a customer for good. I feel taken advantage of. They charge an obscene amount. I will never work with them again. BEWARE!!!

Really good experience with Farnen & Dermer. However, I feel the sales person who initially looked at our broken system tried to upsell us with a UV light for an A/C only system - even though he said he wasn’t trying to upsell us - that was only six years old and had no real issues with mold. I also felt that he was abrasive in the beginning of the appointment and couldn’t really communicate or articulate how he liked to work best (specifically, he asked me to stop asking him questions and told me he needed to figure out the situation before giving me the solution, which is fine, but he should’ve expressed that before he started working so that he didn’t come off rude when I was simply trying to remain informed about our system). He obviously was much friendlier once we put in a purchase order later that day with him. He also got us a discount to meet an original quote we got from this company months ago before we knew the system was broken. On top of that, my initial experience with him was all made up for with the incredible installation and service after we purchased the new system. Not only were they able to replace our system the next day, but the installation professionals were extremely communicative, helpful, professional, and honest. Would highly recommend them If you need an installation!

We recently had our HVAC system and ducting upgraded/installed in addition to having an old oil boiler replaced with and electric water heater. The crew came was always punctual, respectful and very efficient. We're very happy with the services and highly recommend Farnen & Dermer for your HVAC and general plumbing needs.

We wish we could give more than five stars! From the time we called Farnan and Dermer to the finalization of our service, we couldn’t be more pleased. Farnan and Dermer installed central air conditioning.and heat in our historic home restoration 19 years ago. What a coincidence when one of the same people who worked on the project 19 years ago showed up at our door. We needed an entirely new system as the current one was old and worn out. They provided service within 24 hours to include rental of a crane to lift part of the unit on the roof and install a very difficult carrier in the ceiling on the fourth floor in a very tight space. The crew was professional, very informative, and extremely expeditious. We couldn’t be more pleased. We will continue to use Farnam and Dermer in the future, for all of our HVAC needs. To our surprise, we received a large box full of goodies from the company, which was extremely thoughtful, but certainly not necessary. What I like this about the company is it every person that is coming out to work your project, has a little bio and a picture about themselves professionally and personally to introduce themselves before they get to your home. I don’t know of any company that is that personal In addition to being professional. Thank you, thank you thank you!

I felt that the company’s business model is to push you to switching out a system for 5-digit costs even when a component repair is a better option. We are moving so we don’t want that type of investment, which I shared with the tech. The tech only gave me a verbal quote on the repair, and gave me 3 separate formally documented $10,000+ system options. He also suggested that the part might be back ordered - no way of knowing when it would be available.

I was able to order the part online minutes after the tech left and it arrived the next day. I installed it myself and saved thousands vs their quoted repair cost. I am thankful as the tech did confirm what I thought was wrong within minutes of arriving.

FYI - when you book online and it says “no dispatch fee”, that doesn’t mean they won’t charge you for a visit. I was happy to pay for the diagnosis, but they should probably clarify that to avoid confusion.

I’ve had the pleasure of having Farnen & Dermer guys work on my systems throughout the last couple of years, my most recent problem being my hot water heater. Shout out to Glenn, John and RJ those guys were so kind, thorough and professional, same as with all the guys. I highly recommend them to anyone with HVAC issues😊

My experience with Farnen and Dermer was excellent. Both techs who came did a great job of explaining their work and answered any questions I had.

The initial sales experience was also great was also very east. Believe me, this was not a purchase I was looking forward to but they took a lot of the stress out of it. I would recommend them to anyone in the same situation.

John did a wonderful job with the HVAC system. For some reason I couldn't turn it on and was also time for the maintenance. He spend a few hours looking for the problem but thanks to his expertise, he found it and fixed it. He was on time, came in with a beautiful smile and was very respectful. Went up and down the steps like 50 times and didn't complaint. All employees I have meet so far have been amazing and their work is excellent.

Farnen and Dermer are my go to folks for my HVAC needs. Charlie P was able to identify and rectify an unexpected situation within 20 minutes. He was very knowledgeable about the topic and he was here supporting me through the entire new install a few years back! It's nice to have folks that you know coming back to help. Caleb and his crew installed my hybrid heat pump/gas furnace last week. They were very efficient, professional, knowledgeable, and worked seamlessly as a team. The entire install lasted 6 hours including a layman’s explanation of exactly how the system works. I highly recommend their service.

My heat went out last week, which was one of the coldest weeks recorded. Luckily my coworker recommended this company to me. Charlie came out that evening to check the problem. He walked me through the issues and answered all of the many questions I had; I was incredibly impressed with his friendliness and reassurance. James came out a few days later and worked quickly to get a new unit in place. He showed up at 7:30 and by 10am it was up and running. He talked me through final steps and made recommendations on how to keep it running well so there are no further issues. I’m absolutely satisfied with the work and grateful to Charlie and James for a quick and painless update. Will recommend to everyone I know. Thank you, James and Charlie!

Farnen and Dermer is my go to company for my home. They always offer quick punctual service, answer all of my questions, and make sure that I understand exactly what is being done. I recently had a new thermostat and new hot water tank installed. The technicians are very polite and patient with me and my 87 year old mother asking questions. I appreciate the thorough answers. As a single women I feel safe and comforted by receiving a text with the technicians name and picture, so I know who is coming to my home. Their service is second to none.

This company was strongly recommended by a friend. I can pass along that strong recommendation. This is the kind of family-run company that you hope to find. We first had one of those larger companies (that have locations up and down the East cost) come and give a two-and-a-half hour sales pitch. Being able to talk just 15 minutes with one of the owners of this company immediately made the distinction clear. Rather than sitting through a slide show of how great the company is, the discussion was strictly about the technical aspects of what we needed. They were able to install the furnace the same day, and spent seven hours doing so. There was no rush to complete the job, and they were very patient in answering all our questions. We have complete confidence in the installation, and feel very lucky to have found them.

We made an early morning call to Farnen & Dermer due to a leaking hot water heater. The gentleman I spoke with was pleasant and quickly responded to our emergency. Within less than an hour, we had a wonderful technician named John to come assess the issues. After that, a very reasonable price was quoted, and we quickly accepted to get the job started. Shortly after that, Mike and James arrived on the scene to begin to install. They were professional, extreme knowledgeable, and very funny. It was a pleasant service call and I highly recommend anyone needing services to reach out to them immediately. You will not be disappointed!! Our HVAC system is nearly 30 years old and showing its age. Have 3 companies gave their qoutes and Farnen and Dermer has the most appealing package in price and type of equipment. Charlie checked our system and made recommendations, financing options, explained the BGE electrification rebates, federal tax credit benefits of a new system. Caleb and Mike performed the installation , answered questions and concerns, preventive maintenance, warranties and gave a thorough “tutorial” on the thermostat. Oh and they even shipped a box of goodies. Seriously who does that nowadays. Overall excellent customer service, knowledgeable and competent technicians, highly recommended company.

I have known the principal owners, Luis and Mary Jo Villafania, for over 15 years. They are conscientious businesspersons and strong community supporters here in Reisterstown. Their employees are pleasant and competent. Advanced has my unqualified recommendation.

Luis was very pragmatic, helpful, and fair throughout the process of sales, education, recommendations and logistics. Work was started and completed on schedule. Can barely see those A/C vents! Thrilled that 2018 was our last summer without central A/C! Thanks again to the Advanced Heating and Cooling team.

Never use this company. I paid this company to perform a AC cleaning in my rental condo unit in March. My tenant was present to give the technician access. I checked later that day with the tenant to see if all was done and he said it went fine. The AC is in a closet but the piping in question is protected by rigid pipes -- leaving it in a position where it was not draining would have required effort. This company did not report any problems to me or to the condo management. Fast forward to the end of May to find that the pipe was not reconnected properly after the cleaning in March and that the ceiling in the unit below has been ruined and needs extensive repair. The company rep is now taking the position that the tenant was told there was a problem (#1 -- he wasn't; #2 -- the business relationship was with me, not the tenant) -- however, the tech's report (available in May) did not report a problem. And then trying another tack, he said that the tenant must have hit the pipe and dislodged it. Again, this would require a concerted effort on the part of the tenant. Not sure how this company intends to stay in business, but they will never set foot on one of my units again. A strange way to do business.

Advanced Heating & Cooling did a great job installing our mini duct air conditioning system. All the employees are very professional and knowledgeable. We are extremely pleased with the product.
