I had a great experience with Ruth Plumbing, Heating & Cooling. The team was prompt, knowledgeable, and very courteous throughout the entire process. I’m truly impressed with the quality of service and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Scheduling was easy when I called Spartan. They basically asked "when do you want us to be there?" Even though they were late in arriving for the scheduled afternoon appointment, they called and showed up in the early evening. They were courteous, quick, clean and did a great job unstopping our kitchen drain line. Best of all, very reasonably priced.

There are plenty of great plumbers in DC. Spartan is not one of them. I called for a simple toilet supply valve change. The service call is $89 and then any parts and labor. Ok, great! Kenneth arrives and proceeds to say it will be $248 to replace the supply vale. $248 to cut the old sweat copper connection and apply a compression valve replacement. This is an $8 part at any hardware store and I get it, small businesses need to add some markup. The whole replacement would take no more than 30-40 minutes. But $248 plus the $89 service call; $337 to replace an $8 supply valve?? I questioned him on the work to be done and the price and he said, "I go by the book. I am just the technician." I agreed to the price but called the office and spoke to the office manager. She was very nice and told me she needed to call Kenneth so we were "all on the same page about the pricing." She called back 15 min later and told me that she had spoken with Kenneth and that he told her he had to make a special trip to buy more parts and that the parts were "a lot of money." But she offered "round the bill down to $300 for the inconvenience." Kenneth's car never left the parking space and he went outside to his truck to get a part and that was it. The whole job took no more than 40 mins from turning off the water, draining the lines and replacing the supply valve and turning the water back on... and talking to the office manager. Someone at Spartan is lying and their pricing is ridiculous. Steer clear and find another plumbing service in DC. Picture of the old leaking valve, the valve removed and the replacement part of included in this review. He didn't even replace the escutcheon (covers the pipe and hole in wall). Poor job all the way around.

My agent was Zac. He was very professional and came out for same day service. He took the time to patiently explain the issues with the unit even though I have very little knowledge about HVAC units. Within a couple hours, he had the unit working and the condo substantially cooler. Would definitely use his services again.

I am thankful to Spartan for excellent on time service to SE Washington DC. I found out the hard way that many of the advertised big name companies in the area do not service DC ! Matt and Gary showed up within hours of my call and were done within an hour ! My AC works great now. Thanks guys for excellent service. I won't call anyone else.

Wouldn't know if they do a good job, their HVAC technician was a no call no show. I set up an appointment with them the day before for the following afternoon. When they hadn't show up by 2:30 I called to confirm. Guy who answered phone seemed uninterested in talking with me, general vibe was 'whatever.' I had someone waiting 6 hours for their guys to show. Never got a call to cancel, reschedule, or say they were running late. Pathetic. There are plenty of other HVAC services out there I would never go with this company again.

I scheduled an appointment online, someone call within the hour to confirm the work that i requested and the appointment. The following day the tech called 15 min before the scheduled time, and he arrived on time. He explained his diagnosis of the problem and the remedy. He was very professional. Spartan can count on being called for all my HVAC needs.

I had a major dilemma with all drains backed up and no toilets working in my house. Cleo was sent to my house within a couple hours. He even came earlier when I called back to advise Id be home earlier than I thought. He was courteous, personable, very informative and got the job done expediently. If he were my employee I'd pay him anything to keep him working for me. I have had nothing but trouble with plumbing companies in the past so this was refreshing to come across Spartan today. The reason I choose Spartan was because of their excellent reviews, AND the fact that it is woman owned. Does that matter? Who knows.. but it sounded good! I hope to never have to use a plumber again, but if I do, it will be Spartan/Cleo. Thank you.

I should have been suspicious when they wouldn't give pricing over the phone but I had nobody else ready to snake a clogged kitchen drain that was also affecting a bathroom one. Their scam is a $99 visit fee which is only waived if you go over $500 so they priced it at $495. Later I learned that $250 or less would be more appropriate. Bottom line, almost $600 for what I now know on average is less than $200. Avoid and find someone more honest. Their Senior Citizen Discount is also a joke.

Our Spartan plumber Anil Das was
wonderful. Another company told us our sump pump was corroded and needed to be replaced. I called Spartan for a second opinion and because they installed our sump pump 5 years ago. Anil was so nice, honest and professional. He showed us the sump pump
did not need replacement and there was no
corrosion on it, it was just a bit of dirt. The float and everything was in good condition.
We are seniors and we appreciate honesty.
It’s so unfortunate other companies try to
take advantage of customers. We will stick with Spartan and Anil Das will be our go to
plumber. Thank you Spartan for a great
plumber and great honest service.

Thank you to Spartan for your immediate response to my water heater problem. Within 30 minutes of my call there was a service technician at my door to help - Anil Das was extremely helpful! He was very professional and explained the process thoroughly and let me know my options. and proceeded to take care of the issue. I appreciated being spoken to and treated like a valued customer. I can't recommend this company strongly enough. After using two different home warranty companies, both of which assigned awful contractor after awful contractor, I decided to look up a company myself for a sump pump repair/replacement. Wade from Spartan came out that same day, around 7PM on a Friday no less, to diagnose the issue. Then a week later came out to replace the sump pump and also fixed a low water pressure issue in the kitchen.

Look, I get that home warranty companies are appealing in terms of peace of mind, but after my experience with Spartan, and specifically Wade, I'm cancelling my home warranty agreement and getting a service contractor with Spartan. There are not enough companies out there today with professionalism, good manners, and courteous staff. Wade has been out to my unit twice, and both times, was extremely polite to my girlfriend and I (and our dog), explained what he was doing, helped us understand WHY he was doing it. He took what was an absolutely awful situation with our sump pump/home warranty company, and seriously turned our day around by helping out. We almost had tears in our eyes just from how nice he was compared to the multiple contractors sent out by the home warranty company.

Very prompt response to service request. Nice tech provided a nearly $1000 estimate to repair dripping tub spout with warning cost could go much higher. Another plumber made the repairs at fraction of cost. I wanted to support women-run business but suggest getting a second opinion before agreeing to repair.

I will never call Spartan again. Fortunately, they came to give a free estimate for installing a new gas water heater. When they gave an estimate of over $3,000, my jaw dropped. I purchased a new water heater for just over $400, plus about $50 for some other parts I needed, and did the job myself. It only took a couple of hours, even though it was my first time doing it, and the water heater has been working just fine for over 2 years now.

I know some plumbers gouge their customers, but the Spartan estimate for the work was just insane. The tech did not make eye contact with me, and when I laughed at the estimate, he laughed too. He left very quickly.

I don't know what Spartan is trying to pull, but they didn't get it past me.

I scheduled an appointment for replacement of my water heater. I told the person answering the phone that my water heater was damaged and that the Manufacture had authorized a replacement to picked up from Home Depot. An appointment was made for a window between 8:00 a. m. and 12:00 p.m. The technician arrived at 1:30 p.m. took less than 10 minutes to tell me that Spartan Plumbing does not install customer supplied water heaters (my water heater is a gas w/h); and charged me $89.00 for the service call.
I feel ripped off. Did Spartan only make the appointment to get the Dispatch Fee?
Clearly, the person making the appointment could have simply told me that we do not install customer supplied water heaters.

I wasted a work day for nothing. Very, very disappointed in their customer service

Okay...I really loved the service from this company. Joaquin and Matt were so understanding and helpful and knowledgeable. They explained my issue in terms that I could understand and were very honest about the next steps. They were friendly, funny, and thorough. I will definitely use Spartan again. The serviceman (Joaquin) was VERY friendly, patient, professional, and customer-oriented! He took the time to explain how my gas furnace works, what exactly had been happening, and what exactly was being done! I will definitely ask for him the next time I schedule service with Spartan! THANKS!!!

Joaquin and Matthew were absolutely awesome for installation day. Extremely nice guys, tons of expertise, easy to work with, and got the job done fast before the rain came in.

I’ve been a customer of Spartan for about 8 years now, and I’ve always received great service. I’m enjoying the summer thanks to Joaquin and Juwan. They installed my new A/C unit in June and I very happy and cool. Joaquin is so knowledgeable and courteous and honest. He and Juwan were thorough, competent and friendly.

I was extremely pleased with the initial communication, scheduling, and corporate team that I worked with to set up a service call for my toilet. They contacted me within the hour and got out to my tenants the day of my request. I CAN recommend them for the quick service if you need it.

However, when it came time to diagnose the problem at my property, I was extremely displeased with the pricing for the work. They noted that I needed a fill valve and a toilet handle that needed to be replaced. Working in the property management world, I had an idea of the cost of the material and a general idea of the labor cost associated with this fix.

The fill valves MSRP for around $8-$15 and the handle is roughly the same price as well. This does not include labor and markup.

I was quoted $780 + the $99 dispatch for this fix. I simply could not in good conscious accept that price for the scope of work. I have since contacted another plumber who performed the work for about 20% of this price. I understand a world of inflation and cost increases for both material and labor, but I felt that this was a disingenuous pricing for the work needed.

With this being said, I'd still look at giving Spartan a bid, but understand what you are getting before pulling the trigger.

We have been a customer of Spartan since 1987 and have always been satisfied with their work. Today, was no different! Anil Das was extremely efficient and knew the issue immediately. He was patient and took time to explain what was happening with our water pressure. There is no other company I would recommend to do my air conditioning, plumbing and heating. Great service! Kudos to Anil!
