I called on July 4th 2021 (and left a message) and didn't receive a response back (as it is 7 days later). I called them back after they reached out. Backstory: I had a dishwasher that needed service. It took them 4 months to get the part. The first guy barely looked at it and said I should get Greenbacks from DTE (to get a whole new dishwasher). I knew the dishwasher was fine and just needed a new heating coil (red flag number 1). The second guy (with the part) indicated that the company couldn't be liable for pulling out the dishwasher (and ruining the wood floors). I called back and asked if they could have someone look at it again (as the second guy didn't even look under the dishwasher) to see if it could be pulled out. I wish DTE would use someone different for repairs in the Wayne County area. Matt from Canton, Michigan

Love working with them. They are always willing to help when it comes to helping my elderly mother. The technicians, especially Christy and Kelly the scheduler and DON have all been phenomenal through the several times I’ve had to call them for my mother’s water heater, humidifier and furnace. Call them. You will not be disappointed.

I have used American Appliance on multiple occasions (furnace, AC, natural gas fireplace as well as natural gas hookup for my grill). In addition to performing excellent work, they have been very professional while maintaining a high level urgency and transparency. Would recommend.

We have appliance insurance through Consumer’s Energy and our dryer went out a month ago. Consumer’s Energy sent this company out and they diagnosed the problem and said they would come out the following week to install the new parts.
Two weeks passed without any word from them. We finally called and they said “they had the wrong number and had been trying to call us.” Somehow they had the correct number though when they were calling us to set up the initial appointment. And then they had the correct number again to call us and let us know when to expect the technician to be at our house. So we got the run around and they said it would be another week for the part to come in. I’m a business owner. I order from suppliers every week. It takes 4 days max for me to get my parts and supplies. We know they hadn’t ordered the parts yet.
So they said it will be another week and the part will be in and they “would call us first thing Friday morning to let us know when we should expect the technician.” That was today, and I had to call to see when they were coming. Technician comes today installs the parts. New part is broken. It will be over a month now that this company is not able to fix our dryer. They are an absolute joke. -
The young lady i spoke to on the phone was very nice and professional, to let me know the tech was in route. I was at work and my wife and daughter was at home. They informed me that the tech that showed up was very nice and also professional and that it took him no time to find and fix what was the problem, they also said that he courteous, neat and cleaned up afterwards, i definitely will use again in the future for anymore repair needs that may arise. Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen from American Appliance!!!!!!!

DTE customer. They came out to repair our dryer. Tech could not get the to clip to latch, got angry and started cursing, then physically punched and kicked our dryer. Put six our so dents in the top and shoe marks/dents on the base. Also damaged the computer and more. DTE offered us a $30 discount on our monthly fee but won't replace one of the parts damaged. American Appliances wouldn't even apologize. Supervisor stated everyone has bad days and that we should be able to live with the damage they created. Will never use them again for anything.

Leaving this review for my mom who isn't very tech savvy....
I'm choosing 4 instead of 5 at this point as I'm not 100% sure my refrigerator is fixed yet; but wanted to leave this review before I forget.
AA was sent out as part of my DTE Appliance Service Plan when my refrigerator stopped working I called on a Sunday and they had a tech at my house 2 days later. Though the window of time 12-4 was not kept I get it, service repair techs run into unexpected stuff all the time and most times the schedulers forget to add drive time into the techs schedule. Though they didn't keep their time slot they were FABULOUS at communicating with me the whole day, I spoke to the office lady 3 times when she would call to keep me apprised of my techs schedule. First call came immediately when they knew he wouldn't be here in the time slot.
He arrived fixed the thermostat and went on his way. No reason for him or us to believe it was anything but the thermostat. Diagnosing appliance breakdowns isn't always easy. Unfortunately that wasn't it and the refrigerator still didn't work right, I called the next day and they were great in responding "no problem we can have him back out tomorrow." Without knowing a time yet they promised to call in the morning to let me know when his schedule.
They followed through and called just after 8am to let me know the tech was enroute. He arrived and has now replaced the timer. Let's hope this is it. If not I have no doubts they'll make sure to send him out again. Appliances aren't always easy to diagnose and I get that, so I refuse to blame the tech for not knowing immediately what the problem is.
Reading a lot of the reviews on other sites it seems as though people think 1-they're the only customer this company has and 2 -that a technicians job is an exact science and they should be psychic and 3- that a technician will never run into traffic or problems with a repair making their schedule perfect. Well, I'm a realist and know darn well none of those apply when it comes to complicated machinery or me! -
Using American Appliance to fix my furnace was a great experience. They came out quickly and had everything fixed within a hour from arrival time. The technician Anthony was super helpful and explained everything step by step. I highly recommend them!

Outstanding service all around. Wallid took my call, scheduled a repair in 30-45 minutes! Anthony (my service guy) was awesome. He walked me through the process, fixed my problem in 15 minutes and even cleaned my A/C unit after the repair was completed. I highly recommend using American Appliance Heating and Cooling. Thank you for the OUTSTANDING service.

While I’m not thrilled with DTE not honoring their home protection warranty, I am certainly thankful for Jimmy who came out from American Appliance today and saved our family Thanksgiving! He replaced the part(control board) and my oven and stove are up and running. Just wanted his company to know he was pleasant, knowledgeable and I will be requesting him if I ever need service again! It’s that time of year to be thankful!

This company was used for the service component of our home appliance warranty. Our dryer was no longer heating up and our refrigerator was leaking. The technician was able to repair the dryer on the first visit, and ordered the needed part for the refrigerator. They fixed the fridge on the 2nd visit - extremely thorough and professional. Thank you to the technicians for getting us up and running again! I highly recommend.

I normally don't write reviews but in this case I thought it would be best to let anyone that is even considering calling American Appliance to do it. I had them out to my house twice this week; once for my washer and another day for my air conditioning and I tell you they did a fantastic job. It has been so hot and the repairman took his time and took apart the air conditioning; installed new parts and had my house cool in no time. I can't say enough good things about them.

DTE customer, what a trash place, they sent out American appliance heating and cooling to repair my dishwasher, they didn’t come the day they were suppose to, the day he came he said it was a bad seal…note I had just replaced that seal a week prior hoping it was that easy. They came the next week to replace it after having to order the part and he spent 5 minutes didn’t even test it…guess what it still leaks…shocker. I ended up pulling the seal, cleaning behind it really well and now it works. An appliance guy couldn’t even figure that much out? I’m also canceling my dte protection plan as I guess they always use this place now for Wayne county.

I am a DTE appliance repair plan customer. American Appliance came out to home to repair my refrigerator and subsequently my dryer. There was a part that needed to be ordered for my refrigerator and I was told that the tech would bring it when they arrived for the appointment to repair my dryer on Saturday. They also advised me that I would receive a call. I did not receive a call, the tech rang my doorbell at about 8:15 am. This would be okay had it not happened in October when they were out to check on my furnace. I was advised that I would receive a call when the tech was on the way. When the end time for my appointment window arrived, I had not received a call so I called the office. I was advised that the tech was running behind and would be at my home beyond the 6pm window. He did not arrive until about 8. It was determined that I needed a new furnace so I went with them because the were indeed contracted through DTE. I was provided with an estimate and I was told that someone would call me the next day after 10 to set up an appointment. This was on a Monday, on Friday I still not received a call so I called them. I set up the appointment for the following Friday and I was told that I would receive a call the day of for the time frame. I took the day off from work on Friday, waited for the call and did not receive one. At about 9:30 I called the office and they advised me that someone would be out between 10 and 10. They arrived, replaced my furnace and advised me that they would be back out to replace the temporary cardboard fillers. They also said that someone would call me in a couple days. This was on a Friday, it is now Thursday and I have not received a call. As a result, I called them and I was told there had been a rush placed on the parts and someone would call me. I am disappointed and on top of all of the delays, lack of professionalism regarding contacting the customer, they got the top of my basement stairs dirty when they removed my old furnace and they got dirt all over my basement floor as they carried the old furnace out. I paid them in full so I guess I am now on the back burner to wait until they decided to come back out. Wondering if they will call this time but not holding my breath.

We are in the middle of a bathroom remodel. Our plumbing company has been instrumental on the project, sometimes in a good way, sometimes not in a good way - specifically scheduling. When we had a problem with our air conditioner spewing water I naturally called our plumber. Both my husband and I knew that the problem was a clogged tube that moves the condensation from the air conditioner to the sink. The water was not moving. It wa pooling around the furnace. The plumbing company sent what I felt was a very green tech. His diagonisis to the tune of 400.00 on top of the service fee made me suspicious. The air conditioner was only three years old so I could not believe his result. He himself did not seem confident in his findings. I said hold on and let me find who put in the air conditioner and called American Appliance. I wanted the tech to repeat what he said. He was reluctant but I insisted. He spoke with Steve at Ameircan. Steve agreed that something was not right. I told the tech I will pay the service fee and sent him on his way. American sent his experienced Plumber Anthony who promptly debunked the techs diagnosis. Anthony flushed the tube and at Steves instruction put in a new part, that the tech was going to charge 400, at no charge. Anthony was wise and funny and helpful. He gave me tips on what to do with the air conditioner going forward, like when to change the air filter and humidifier filter. Anthony mentioned that the average is once every three to six month depending on usage and if there are animals and children, and a full on cleaning and tune up ever two years. Then with a smerk he said actually every month. He had jokes. American thanks for taking care of one of your most strict customers. Steve I appreciate how you took charge of the matter and took care of us, being aware that the weekend was to be hot and it would have been miserable for us to be without air. I recommend American to wholehartedly. if they take care of me they will take care of you.

Sent out by DTE and diagnosed our furnace as in immediate need of replacement. Came out next day to put in new furnace, great. Failed to mention it would be 3 business days for the metal to come in and they were behind in metal work. Left screws all over basement floor after first visit, left old furnace, no heads up phone call, could go on and on....No "Thank You" for your business. Happy our furnace is safe and working but not happy about the overall experience.

In most ways, they were great. They came out soon after I called even though it was right around Christmas. Tim & Joe were excellent in quickly repairing the dryer and at a reasonable cost. Only drawback, was it wasn't until they finished did I learn they do not reconnect the gas, and thus the dryer exhaust which is also in the back. Reconnecting these things doesn't seem like a big deal, but was much more of a pain for an old guy like me to climb and squeeze behind the dryer to do them.

I was very disappointed with American Appliance. We have the DTE Protection Olan. My dryer was making a very loud noise when I ran it. I waS told it was most likely the rollers. American Appliance came out after making us wait all day past the window time, never took anything apart, but determined I needed a seal, new drum and rollers. He also said it would not be covered. A different company came out and literally fixed it in 15 minutes , replacing the rollers. If I didn't call back I would be stuck buying a new dryer which mine is a modern and wasnt cheap. Ill be sure to request Kenwhirl Appliance if I ever have to need service again not American Appliance

Explained during scheduling my washing machine is leaking water from the pipes hooked to it from the back. Washer is running fine otherwise. They sent a technician to repair my dishwasher. Then within 5 mins after looking at my washing machine he said I need to call a plumber. Then he tried to unscrew the cold water line from the valve thinking water leaking from there and did not tighten it back on. I told him that was not the issue, he can put everything back how he found and he can leave since I need a plumber. I turned on the washer after he left and my entire laundry room got flooded from his loose connection.
Wish companies had experienced employees these days and not only worry about making money by conning customers. -
They were contracted to fix my oven through DTE. The first time they returned for the repair the parts were wrong. The second time they installed one part and the issues all persisted. When I called DTE they had advised DTE that they installed 3 parts going over the value of the oven. The oven is a 2020 and they only installed one part. Due to them providing this information to DTE I can no longer have my oven covered by the DTE service plan. It was 1k and is less that 4 years old. Now I have to pay for a service call despite paying for the service plan because this company claims to have installed 3 parts when it was actually one.

Came out and replaced our ac/furnace done in a day. had to return 3-7 days later because air was leaking where it was connected to furnace. every thing is going great so far until the bad weather last week. My a/c did not come on when power was out. I’m upset because I have a whole house generator that the furnace and ac are supposed to be hooked up to. My old equipment was hooked up to the generator so I would think they would do the same thing because all the work had been done for them(wiring, connections cable, etc) well I found out last week on Friday when the my power went out. The rest of my house was on but not my ac. So had to go for the whole weekend without ac ( lucked out because it was cooling down) so I am going to assume the furnace was connected as well until this past weekend. You would have thought that they would have mentioned that they do not hook units to the home generator so we could get it taken care but sadly no. There was no on call. I called Monday morning and explained what had happened. Girl put me in brief hold and came back to tells me “we don’t do that. I was confused at first and did state that the electrical was already done with the generator and should have been an easy hookup and I assumed it was done(but you know what they say about assume). Again was told “we don’t do that”. I am glad I found out now instead of winter when we need heat if power goes out. I gave 2 ( wanted to give 0 stars) stars only because they were at the my home the next day after the quote and installed within in the day. So ask everything when you are getting new units installed if you have a whole house generator
